16.01.2022 A beautiful morning to mark the beginning of a new Belmont business It was a pleasure to represent Minister for Tourism Paul Papalia CSC MLA and cut the ribbon to officially open Quest Perth Ascot. The building and facilities look wonderful and I'd recommend all residents come and have a peak at the soon to be iconic legless horse artwork out the front!
16.01.2022 I know that many Belmont residents are concerned by nitrous oxide canisters (colloquially referred to as ‘nangs’). Whilst nangs can be purchased legally (they are commonly used in the catering industry), the rush of euphoria produced when inhaled means they are frequently substituted as a quasi-drug, particularly amongst young adults in the community. The long term impacts and side effects of inhaling this substance are quite concerning, as they include: ... Numbness Memory loss Incontinence Depression Limb spasms Sudden death Brain and nerve damage I am regularly contacted by residents who are not only concerned about the impacts of inhaling this substance, but the anti-social behaviour often associated with this drug and the empty canisters that often litter our streets. If you agree that more needs to be done to address the sale and use of nitrous oxide, help me and sign my petition! https://belmont.walabor.org.au//stop-the-inappropriate-us/

As part of the WA Recovery Plan, the McGowan Government is also investing more than $300,000 in additional therapeutic and consultation sup...port for foster and family carers across WA. This important funding boost will provide much-needed support to both carers and children in care across WA.

The McGowan Government has today launched a campaign to encourage West Aussies to correctly sort their waste and unwanted items in an effort to reduce the volume of waste going to landfill. The campaign encourages all of us to 'Be a GREAT sort' and adopt simple steps in the home or at the shops:... Gifting (donating, selling or giving away clothing, toys and household goods) Recycling (the 'five': cans, paper, glass, cardboard and plastic) Earth-cycling (food scraps and garden waste into home compost or into FOGO bins) Avoiding (excess packaging, disposables such as coffee cups, and wasted food) Taking to drop-off (special waste such as batteries, chemicals, paint and e-waste). 11.01.2022 This week in Parliament I spoke in support of the Arts and Culture Trust Bill 2020. Art is crucial in nourishing our culture but also in preserving it. It can strengthen social relations and identity, express complex emotions, tell original stories, provide deep insight, bring communities together and translate experiences, memories and moments across time and space.... The Arts can entertain us, educate us, illuminate our lives and enrich our emotional world. Beyond this, the arts and culture has a broader impact upon our economy, health, wellbeing, society and education. And thats why the State Government is committed to promoting the arts and culture sectors and providing significant funding to these industries to help them thrive, especially during this difficult period.
