13.01.2022 Don’t fall into the dodgy deductions trap at tax time. While most Aussies try to do the right thing, we still see a range of false car claims each year, such as... people claiming: Expenses that were actually paid for or reimbursed by their boss Private trips (including driving between home and work, which generally can’t be claimed) Trips they didn’t even take! If you plan to claim vehicle or travel expenses, pump the brakes and read up on the rules first. For more info, visit www.ato.gov.au//Deductions-you/Vehicle-and-travel-expenses

07.01.2022 Superannuation contributions and tax deductions need to be listed on pay slips. It’s a common error we see. Remember while super only has to be paid every 3 mo...nths, each pay slip should say how much you’ve earned that pay. Find out more about tax and super and remember, if you have any issues, contact the Australian Taxation Office in the first instance: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/pay/tax-and-superannuation

07.01.2022 Changes to the low and middle income tax offset announced in Budget 201920 are now law. The amount of offset you may be entitled to, and the amount of any refu...nd, will differ for everyone depending on individual circumstances such as income level and how much tax you paid throughout the year. We’ll automatically take into account any offset you’re entitled to in your tax return, even if you've already lodged. You won’t need to contact us. Refunds for tax returns already lodged are expected to start issuing towards the end of next week and into the following week, which is in line with the normal processing of refunds for this time of year. 02.01.2022 If you’re planning to have a baby, you might be wondering what happens with work, leave and pay when your bundle of joy arrives. Under the Fair Work System, if ...you have a responsibility to care for the child you can take 12 months unpaid leave (as long as you’ve worked for your boss for 12 months). You can also ask for another 12 months off. In terms of paid leave, eligible employees can get up to 18 weeks' leave paid at the national minimum wage under Centrelink’s Parental Leave Pay. You might also get paid parental leave from your work, but there’s no blanket rule on this under the Fair Work system. You’ll need to check your enterprise agreement or company policy. Remember, your partner may be able to get 2 weeks Dad and Partner Pay from Centrelink too. https://www.fairwork.gov.au//maternity/paid-parental-leave
