20.01.2022 Our first Cape York Iron Range tour this year is off to a resounding start. The weather has been kind and already the group has seen all the Iron Range target b...irds including 5 Black-eared Catbirds, 8 Palm Cockatoos feeding on the ground, and fantastic views of the Papuan Pitta, Trumpet Manucode & Magnificent Riflebird. Sea watching has also be good with lots of Boobies & Frigatebirds seen. Lots of other good birds including Marbled Frogmouth and White-Streaked Honeyeater are also on the list. Butterflies are abundant and a Green Tree Python was a good find while native pitcher plants have been an added extra. See more

08.01.2022 Check out this spectacular Golden Bowerbird (Prionodura newtoniana) taken today. This is the time of year that these beautiful birds start thinking about a mate.... Because he needs to put on a good show he spends a lot of time working on his bower. Though occasionally he needs to build a new one, usually he renovates his old one, taking infinite care in the placement of lichen & greenish orchid flowers to make it look its best. Then he sits up on a nearby branch to call and advertise what he has to offer. See more
