23.01.2022 Today we've announced that from 1 December, our border restrictions with Victoria will be removed. Our borders have helped to keep SA safe and strong, however w...e have always said we would act swiftly on the expert health advice to remove them as soon as it was safe to do so. I acknowledge how difficult this period has been for many people particularly those who have been separated from their loved ones. The reopening of the border will see families reunited and it will help stimulate our economy, boost tourism and create jobs. Finally, the return of standing hospitality is imminent with SA Health working extremely hard to have a government contact tracing check-in system up and running. Certain businesses will need to use the new system. This includes pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes and other licensed venues. Once it's available and businesses have implemented it, standing hospitality inside and outside will be allowed to resume immediately. Another update regarding changes to other restrictions that remain in place is expected after the Transition Committee meets next Tuesday 17 November. I'd like to thank all South Australians for the sacrifices you have made in this unprecedented year.

21.01.2022 A very close friend of mine posted this on her page - she's a Vic Cop, who I have known most of my life, and have the utmost respect for. She has made some rea...lly good points here: "Yesterday I was called on to help out at the Border Check point in Apsley. My day started at 5am and I was home at 5pm. I was so pleased with the attitude of most of the people going through. There has been some frustration of course from people, that’s understandable but please remember folks that us coppas are just doing our job. We don’t make the rules we just have to make sure they are followed. The but I just need to go there or I just need to do this or I’ll only be a couple of hours doesn’t cut it. Our Metro brothers and sisters have been told to pack for anything from 2 days to 7 leaving their families. Show them how resilient we are out here in the country. They were super impressed by many of you who passed through the checkpoint. Believe me standing around in 35 degree heat for 8-10 hrs in full kit getting abused is not a fun day at the office. We understand your frustration so please understand ours and give us a break.

09.01.2022 SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING for DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL South West and Wimmera Forecast Districts. *** BOM is warning a low pressure trough will move over western Victoria this morning.... Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Casterton, Horsham, Stawell, Edenhope, Hamilton. *** The warning for asthmatics remains in place. 07.01.2022 New permit system will be used to restrict anyone entering Victoria from South Australia, with police and authorised officers to enforce the scheme from midnight tonight. Permits will be available on the Service Victoria website but the restrictions will not apply to those in the current 70km cross-border bubble - existing permits to be honoured.

05.01.2022 From 11:59pm tonight, a border permit will be required for anyone crossing into Victoria from South Australia. This includes all Victorians returning home and t...hose who have travelled through South Australia from other states and territories. People who live in the previously established 70km cross-border bubble between VIC and SA will also require a permit but may use existing permits from the South Australian government. Those receiving or providing emergency medical care or emergency services or residing on a property that extends across both states will be exempt from the requirement for a permit.
