25.01.2022 Salute peeps. What a week, what a month, what a year. Just hopped off the phone to Melbourne friends and we laughed and cried and agreed to sail down and pick them up from the headland and hide them as castaways. Not long to go peeps, the averages are falling and everyone’s been so stoic. It hasn’t gone unnoticed, everyday I google the average, that magical number desperately praying for it to be friendly. 24.01.2022 Wonder if Gladys and Dan and Ana and Mark and Steve and Pete and Andy and Mike get today off. Closing the borders has been well and truly unspreading the love, state politics what about you stealing the spotlight this year. What I like about watching our premiers is that it’s not about their parties as much as their policies, we look to them for action not just the blah blah party talk, but I’m looking forward to our country being open and wide and generous and all back together again. 23.01.2022 Here’s what’s bonkers. In my first job there was no email, there were no mobile phones, there was no social media. We had to write letters - I’m so embarrassed, what a dinosaur but this is fully the truth - and send faxes. Faxes. Remember the noise they made as they were clicking through. It was like this weird digital crunchy thing. When I worked at The Conran Shop I accidentally faxed all the new wages of the buyers to the staff room at the Fulham Rd retail shop. OMG I was ...so dead @makerandson have you actually forgiven me yet? And tannoys too. We used to play jokes on our friends at Country Road ringing up switchboard and getting tannoys blasted through the building, cry that was funny. I’m getting a tannoy for work. I’m gonna make a morning announcement, good morning girls can someone please make me a cuppa and water the plants, and Cleo can you please come and sleep the night at home I miss you, we can have nachos and watch Love Actually, thankyou carry on. Imagine not having to do social media, we just went to the pub instead, we went to the clubs and danced and mucked around and if we liked someone we looked their phone number up in the white pages and called them on those big orange public phones, it only took a few 20c pieces. 13.01.2022 Our first ever home was a little flat in Belsize Park in London. It was on the corner of Belsize Village, the front yard had a big mulberry tree, we were the first floor. On a sunny day we’d pack 20 friends on the teeny 3m x 1m balcony, we’d all take our clothes off and sunbake and have an all day barbie excited cause it was a whole 22 degrees. Those were the days, not a worry in the world. Today I’ll be happy sticking my head out the car window for a little sunshine on my face. 12.01.2022 G is totally for GOOD GIRLS cause we unloaded 135 boxes today and packed them away and restocked all the shelves and tomorrow will pop online our new top up of bath towels and bathmats. A good thing happened today and in this day and age a win is something we don’t take lightly so sound the trumpets we counted our new little towel shipment - we QC every single one before it leaves the studio - and all the quants are online. Now we can have a big rest for 16 minutes before the sweaters arrive in the morning. Am I complaining absolutely not. You can really abuse excess baggage cause it’s only for a few nights and you can bring all the mazzas and books and clothes and hats and sunscreens and face masks and nail products, actually anything your eyes travel over in the packing phase can come. You don’t feel guilty not leaving the hotel cause you’ve already been everywhere already cause you live here, so you can get settled and straight to making good use of everything in the suitcase. She moved out to go to uni, home during covid, and she’s gone again to a shared house last weekend so currently her room looks like it’s been robbed, well it kinda has, by her.
