24.01.2022 Hi Castlefieldians! We have just had a very generous offer from Charles at No 20. He says that in the days ahead if it becomes necessary he is willing to do what it takes to deliver food to peoples' houses. He does not want to be on Facebook but his phone number is 0412 456 788.
21.01.2022 I'm sure we have all wondered about our friends and neighbours on the Square. Who are they? Where do they come from? Therefore I would like to launch 'Behind the Letterbox'. We invite people around the square to tell of their loves, hates, passions, aspirations, histories and (with a bit of luck) darkest and most juicy secrets. Mandy has agreed to be our first volunteer. Mandy Pratley, fame calls... tell us all about yourself!
21.01.2022 Hello and welcome to Castlefield Connect. If you live in Castlefield Square, please hit the 'like' button and you are a member of the club,
19.01.2022 Hi Everyone! A day after launching Castlefield Connect we have 20 likes. That means we are up and running. At the moment we are an open group which means that the whole of the internet can see us (should they want to). I want to wait until Monday to let everyone get on board who wants to get on board and then close off the page with just ourselves inside. Then we can then decide where we go from here. Greetings to all Castlefieldians!
14.01.2022 Karla found this clip on YouTube and we thought it was funny. We thought we would share it around the square. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykieEE1j9eA Apparently it is going viral!
06.01.2022 Crikey! We have ten likes already and it's only three hours since I put the flier out. Looks like we are a goer! Looking forward to contacting with everyone!
04.01.2022 Hello Castlefieldians Now that I'm an Admin for the page I don't seam to be able to just write a post to the page as Mandy. Anyhow as Jeff said, I'm going to give you a behind the letterbox look at our lives. Dave and I have lived at No.7 for almost 27 years now. Which I have just realised is more than half my life! During this time we have raised 3 wonderful children, Victoria (25) and our twins James & Jason (24). They all attended Wantirna P.S. and then moved on to Highval...e Secondary Collage. James & Jason finished their education by attending SEDA College VIC (Sports Education Development Australia) they participated in the Basketball Victoria program. Victoria continued on to Deakin Uni where she studied Nursing, she is working at Frankston Hospital and is doing a Post Grad course in Midwifery. I grew up in Lower Templestowe where, along with just about the complete generation of children in the area I played basketball in the EDJBA. I think this where James & Jason's love of Basketball comes from, they both still play. And they both met their girlfriends at the Nunawading Basketball Stadium. While at Secondary school I was introduced to the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, and completed my Bronze and Silver awards. In 1985 my friend Kerrie and I were lucky enough to be able to go on an International Youth Year project to the UK to complete our Gold Awards. We did our residential projects in Edinburgh and then completed a 4 day hike on the Pennine Way. In 1986 we were presented with our Gold Awards at Government House Melbourne by the Duke of Edinburgh himself! I love to read and these days my preference is for Crime & Thriller novels. Authors I follow include Candice Fox, Linda Fairstein, Tess Gerritsen, James Patterson, Vince Flynn, Jo Nesbo, Jane Harper the list goes on..... I have quite a large collection of books if anyone would like to borrow one to help pass the time. Another of my hobbies is Genealogy. I have quite a large family tree on Ancestry. All of my Great Grandparents were born in Australia, from either English or Irish heritage. David on the other hand was born in London, but has been here since he was about 8. Dave is a carpenter/joiner by trade and was also licensed to do gas/LPG conversions on cars. Unfortunately problems with his back forced him out of working in both of these professions. For at least 15 years now we have been running our own business selling remote control aircraft. You can check out our website at www.davestoys.com.au I think that is more than enough from me, hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Regards Mandy
