22.01.2022 Due to the ongoing Covid 19 Pandemic issues, the 2020 Castlemaine Auto Model Show is POSTPONED until Sunday 27th September It was not socially responsible to invite people from Melbourne to travel to our region with the higher risk of transferring infection

22.01.2022 Next Sunday 15th November is our first Castlemaine Coffee Cruise to be held under our Covid SAFE Plan. Things are not quite the same Our Coffee Cruise needs to comply with some strict rules in these Covid19 times We collect your details Drivers, Passengers & Volunteers... When you arrive, you will be required to sign a Covid Plan Declaration which will include your name, signature, date, contact number and Vehicle details These details will be shared with the proprietor of the café at the end of the Cruise We need to practice Social Distancing This means we need to stay at least 1.5 metres away from others that don’t live in your home Don’t share a ride with a mate We don’t touch each other We don’t shake hands or slap each other on the back We practice safe hygiene There is hand sanitiser available on the sign in table Please use it BEFORE you sign in Have the right change ($5 per driver) If you need to cough or sneeze do it into your elbow If you are unwell STAY HOME If there is any chance you might have Covid 19 you have a dry cough, a runny nose, headaches, nausea STAY HOME If you have been overseas or near someone diagnosed with Covid19 in the past 28 days STAY HOME If your health is already compromised such that catching corona virus would have a serious impact on you STAY HOME How you can continue to help the Castlemaine Hot Rod Centre Limited (who run the Coffee Cruise) and our Autoplex Castlemaine major project Keep coming to the Coffee Cruise and tell your mates and other Club members about it Become a Member of Castlemaine Hot Rod Centre Limited Tag your Bendigo Bank Account with Community Enterprise No 4998 (or open a Bendigo Bank account) Volunteer to help out at Autoplex working bees and events

22.01.2022 Our Master Plan for the initial transformation of the abandoned former Tech School into Autoplex Castlemaine has at last been received from the Consultants. Our next (urgent) step is to gain Council Planning Approval for our part of the site. 20.01.2022 Our February Castlemaine Coffee Cruise is on Sunday 21st February - we meet up in front of the Visitor Information Centre in Mostyn st at 9.30am, cruise at 10.3am and arrive in Newstead at 11.30am. There will be five coffee and brunch locations open for us - and Eddie Ford has promised to roll out a couple of his hidden classics!

18.01.2022 Our Master Plan for Autoplex Castlemaine is almost completed. One of the concepts discussed is the installation of a Electric Vehicle Charging Station. 17.01.2022 The AGM of Castlemaine Hot Rod Centre Limited that was to be held this coming Friday 26th June has been CANCELLED due to changes in the roll out of Covid 19 restrictions. The meeting will now be held in late July, August or September - as soon as restrictions on community gatherings are lifted. Notice will be given once the date is locked in

We invite all candidates in Mount Alexander Shire elections to make contact with us and find out more about what we are doing and what our exciting plans are to transform an abandoned former school in to Autoplex Castlemaine.

13.01.2022 We are really excited to be working with the Get Lost program. Mount Alexander Shire is packed with specialty automotive enthusiasts who restore and repurpose and recycle automobiles - These Creative Car Makers have established Castlemaine as the Street Rod Centre of Australia - our small grant application is to teach a range of local youth the Lost Trade of Pinstriping - the application of fine decorative lines on machinery once practised by artisans in our community at The Foundry and other coachmakers in our region. Exciting times ahead!!!

07.01.2022 We feel really privileged to be part of the first round of Get Lost Quick Grants. By the end of the year there will be ten young local people with skills to pinstripe all manner of objects - a "lost" artform from our community being revived by Autoplex Castlemaine. Our "tutor" will be Peter Carpenter who is a "Master" of the art.

06.01.2022 Great News the Castlemaine Coffee Cruise is back in action! Our first Post-Covid Castlemaine Coffee Cruise is Sunday 15th November. This one will finish at Cream Town in Castlemaine the very popular café operated by a family of car enthusiasts! All our Castlemaine Coffee Cruises start at the heritage Market building (Visitor Information Centre) in central Castlemaine. We meet at 9.30am and then cruise at 10.30am. Our destination is somewhere local where we can get coffee ...and a bite to eat for brunch. Strict Covid Safe protocols apply All Specialty Auto Enthusiasts are welcome Hot Rods (of course), Street Machines, Muscle Cars, Classic Cars, Vintage Vehicles, Motorcycles and even Trucks Our December Castlemaine Coffee Cruise is Sunday 20th December. This one will finish at Autoplex Castlemaine with Coffee and a BBQ Brunch available

05.01.2022 Four weeks to go til the 2020 Castlemaine Auto Model Show to be held at Autoplex Castlemaine - the home of Castlemaine Hot Rod Centre! Sunday 12th July 11am til 4pm There will be Covid19 restrictions which will include queue at entrance stay 1.5m apart in line, sanitise hands at hand station, sign in with name and mobile number,... pay your entry fee of $5 per adult (kids free) please have correct change or paywave, stay 1.5m away from others while inside the building, entry to display rooms will be restricted to 30/20/20 = 80 people upstairs at a time, downstairs at coffee van restricted to 50 people at a time, toilets restricted to 3 persons per block at a time (sanitise hands before and after entry), if you need to cough or sneeze do it into your elbow if you are unwell, been overseas or health compromised please stay home. Together we can make this happen!!!!!!

05.01.2022 The past six months have seen our Autoplex Castlemaine facility being utilised to build two giant projects - a full size Dinosaur (17m long) and a full size Great White Shark (5m long) A team of 4-6 creators have worked full time on this project and the two models left yesterday in a low loader for their new home in the Museum in Perth.

03.01.2022 This is the sort of applied automotive mathematics that we are incorporating in our Basic Car Care and Maintenance workshops being developed for VCAL students (and others later) Our first module includes tyres and wheels and how to safely and correctly change a flat tyre. Our qualified instructor, Graeme Inwood, has been using his own tools and equipment so far but we are on the hunt for a set of basic home car care and maintenance tools including cross type wheel brace two ...axle stands (pin type not ratchet) 600mm breaker bar 1/2 inch ratchet set 1/2 inch wheel sockets (in various sizes) 150 and 300 mm 1/2 inch extensions 1/2 inch drive torque wrench set rubber wheel chocks 1850-2150 small trolley jack Our initial aim is to set up a good home style workshop to use as the basis for teaching this much needed course. 02.01.2022 If you weren't at the Castlemaine Coffee Cruise this morning you missed out! What a glorious day for our final Castlemaine Coffee Cruise for 2020. With over 70 specialty autos and well over 200 people, we packed Mostyn Street at the start, headed single file through Maldon and Newstead and back into Autoplex Castlemaine. There we had Pizza de Wheels, Icecream Social and KT's Coffee serving the crowd Motoring enthusiasts traveled from Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong and Melbourne (even one from Hervey Bay in Qld) Our next Castlemaine Coffee Cruise is on Sunday 17th January - lock it in!
