25.01.2022 Castlemaine parkrun #258 Yet again huge numbers of 122 participants turned out for our second parkrun since re-opening and it was great to see everyone out beating the heat in the beautiful bot gardens. Congratulations to our 100run milestoner Christine Christie - well done, looking resplendent in your tutu!! Unfortunately, there was a major glitch with one of our scanners which meant 34 finishers who scanned in were dropped somehow from the system. I have attached a photo of... these tokens/postitions. You will appear as "unknown" against your position or token number and time on the results page, and will not receive an email. Please, if you know your position or time or both please message here as comment with your barcode number name and parkrun home location. We can then reprocess results if you are keen to have your run registered, especially if you scored a PB time or goal position today. I do not want to shame the scanner in question, but it may help to identify yourselves to know the glitch was on Gary's phone - the scanner on the right at the finish, the guy looking amazing in all black running gear, bare feet, wavy grey/silver locks and a look on his face as if to say - "my world has just imploded" while staring at a blank screen on his phone. It certainly was a "cobweb cleaning" event today after an extended time without parkrunning as our finish line was a bit hectic. It seems my brief today seemed more heavy on the "covid no spitting rule" than the basics of how to finish a parkrun. Maybe time for a gentle reminder to punters of a few things: It is 3 laps of the gardens, not 2 nor 4, but 3; DO NOT cross between the flags unless you have finished said 3 laps or participating in the parkrun, as everybody that passes through the finishline is alloted a time. Only cross the finish line ONCE, do not return to help a family member or friend over the line - it sounds like a lovely thing to do but upsets the results a little. But remember regarding the results....'perfection is the enemy of fun' and we are all about fun at Castlemaine parkrun :D Welldone everyone and I hope in time those that are keen can find themselves registered on the results page. Remember to keep hydrated and out of the heat on these hot days. See more

23.01.2022 Finishers 3, packing up and final bell ringing

19.01.2022 For this Saturday’s parkrun we are a couple of volunteers short - barcode scanner and timekeeper (and optional photographer). Please get in touch if you can help! Lots of opportunities in future weeks too! https://www.parkrun.com.au/castlemaine/futureroster/

19.01.2022 Looking like a warm one for parkrun tomorrow. Stay hydrated and enjoy some activity before it gets too hot. Don't forget to check in and scan this QR code before, during or after parkrun. We will have printed copies of the QR code at parkrun too if you would like to scan when you arrive. You can also find more information in the news section of the Castlemaine parkrun website.

17.01.2022 Who's up for (not) parkrun?

15.01.2022 You're invited to a virtual 5km jog around the botanic gardens in all its autumnal glory. Hear the stories and see the pictures about how much this weekly community event means to us on the occasion of our 5th birthday. Be part of the premiere launch, and add to the conversation in real time as it unfolds. Share with your friends! We can't celebrate in person this year, but look forward join us for an online party instead.

14.01.2022 Yippee!! Dust off your barcode. We're back on the 16th of January.

13.01.2022 What a fantastic first parkrun back after the long break. It was terrific to see so many enthusiastic and happy people turn up. Thanks everyone for embracing the new Covid -19 way we are operating. We welcomed 11 people participating in their first ever parkrun and another 11 visitors participating for the first time in Castlemaine. Hope you enjoyed yourselves, and look forward to welcoming you back again soon. There were 10 speedsters who achieved personal best times - I l...oved ringing the bell for you, congratulations all. It was a 50 run milestone sort of a day. Congratulations to Tony and Alison Radford,, Michelle Scott and Neil Critchley who all ran their 50th. Congratulations also to Tara McBean who achieved her junior 10 milestone. Thanks so much to our volunteers for today, Christine, Nicki, Ronder, Jane, Judy, Dianne, Lisa and Chris. Thanks for posting the fantastic photos too Lisa. We really can;t operate without you all. Plenty of spots on next weeks roster, if anyone is interested let us know.
