18.01.2022 CALL OUT FOR ARTISTS SUBMISSIONS In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic our region urgently needs the experience of art to help aid recovery and reconnection. We are committing our 2021 edition to supporting our collective re-emergence from this life-changing crisis. We firmly believe the artists and arts of regional central Victoria will play a vital role in this mission and we are delighted to announce a new CSF COVID-19 artist relief project, WE ARE HERE.... We are commissioning a suite of bold new works by artists living in Mount Alexander Shire, Macedon Ranges, Hepburn Shire, Central Goldfields Shire and the City of Greater Bendigo or projects created within those borders. The aim is to help turn the current devastating disruption of cultural life into a creative, imaginative force. Four new performing/live works artists will receive a grant of $3,000 to bring their project to life. Three projection/lens artists will receive $1,000 each for their new works. All works will be considered for inclusion in the 2021 Castlemaine State Festival. We invite eligible artists to submit a proposal and look forward to your ideas big or small. Jodie Hutchinson will host free photography workshops via Zoom for families of the toddlers and the general public who live in Mount Alexander Shire. 09.01.2022 COVID RELIEF ARTISTS ANNOUNCED We are excited to announce the recipients of our COVID-19 artist relief commissions program, WE ARE HERE, focused on offering financial support to local regional performing and projection/visual arts projects. Central Victorian artists @Jessie Boylan, Andrée Cozens & Mark Penzak, Furze Brothers and commonplace productions, Hermione Merry & Helen Mathwin, Brodie Murray, Cameron Robbins (pictured) and Wide Open Road Art collective collective will each receive a share of the $15,000 grant pool to develop and create their performing, projection or visual arts productions. Typically, they are small labels featuring graphic images marking ownership through the inscription of a personal or institutional name. Pictured below is a book plate created by Eric Thake for Jean Daley in 1930. It earned international recognition from the Ex Libris Association International meeting in Los Angeles in 1931, with an Honorable Mention and is currently housed at CAM.
