24.01.2022 What a year 2020 has been so far. We know things are still a little tricky, but we’ve got everything you need to get you back on stage and in front of your aud...ience either digitally or in-person. In our view, art has never been more essential than right now, and we’re here to support you all the way to the Melbourne Fringe Festival (12-29 November) 2020. To make it as easy as possible, we’re offering artists flexible registration payments and are giving you the option to adapt your event format depending on state-level restrictions. For example, if your in-person Pants On event cannot be presented to a physical audience, we will give you the opportunity to deliver this work on our online platform, Digital Fringe. Equally, if you register your show as an online Pants Off event and the opportunity arises to perform in-person, we’ll do our best to help make that happen too! So, what are these PANTS events we speak of? A PANTS OFF EVENT IS: Art for a physically distanced world, that can be enjoyed from the comfort of home (pants not required). These events can be Zoom parties, pre-recorded performances, one-on-one interactive experiences and more AKA anything that your audience can experience without coming into physical contact with another human. Registrations for these events are HALF PRICE and you’ll you’ll even have the chance to premiere on our brand-new online video platform, Digital Fringe! A PANTS ON EVENT IS: Art that people can experience live and in-the-flesh (pants essential). Maybe your Pants On event happens in a theatre, on the street, in a shopfront window, a by-appointment-only gallery space, or even in a physically-distanced venue wherever it happens, your audience can attend live and in person. *** We’ve got a super friendly team who are here to guide you and provide you with all the artist support one desires. You can email us at [email protected], or contact us through the NRS on our office number - 03 9660 9600. We can’t wait to see what ideas you’ve dreamed up!

23.01.2022 Massive love to all the COVID at home teachers - Fringe is here to help!!! When you are just about to lose your marbles we invite you to download a drawing of the Castlemaine Market building, and get your kids to colour it in. https://castlemainefringe.org.au//2/02/CMB-CC-Template.pdf There's two options:... 1. Download and colour the .pdf in on their IPADS then save it & send it back to us at [email protected]. We will then PROJECT YOUR IMAGE onto the Market building at CFF2021 REACTIVATE on March 27th as part of the amazing line up we are putting together (all being well in covid-land of course). Mums, dads, sparenets, child-free & dogs are also welcome to participate - but we can only accept the first 30 entries... so get cracking!!! 2. Download, print out and colour in any way they like. Drop these off at the front door of Caspa (laneway next to Stonemans on Hargraves St) and they'll be displayed in a special Fringe exhibition during the Festival! All entries will be part of the Castlemaine Fringe Festival's REACTIVATE Colouring Competition Exhibition at a secret location (to be announced) Image of Market Building from previous Festival Colouring Competition/Projection by VideoArchitecture.

19.01.2022 A big shout out to the Tap Room for Hosting the Castlemaine Fringe Festival Art Auction last night and to all who attended. It was buzzing! What a fun night and confirmation of our town's commitment to supporting community arts. There was music, there was dancing!! (Remember what that’s like?) So many happy people walking out the door at the end of the night with prized pieces under their arms. A huge thanks to Jacqueline Brodie Hanns and Doug Falconer at The Taproom - Sheds...haker Brewing for tireless behind the scenes work and hosting, the fabulous staff who did an especially amazing job in the face of the newly lifted COVID restrictions, all of the amazing artists that contributed works, for calling it like no other our auctioneer Jason Mills, Jan Palethorpe and Melissa Scott for fabulous commentary (and fabulous outfits!) To Jacinta Welsh for her auctioneering assistance, to Suzanne Donisthorpe and Steve Charman for broadcasting live on MAINfm To M79 and Djaka Mara Jones for providing the tunes. @print together for all our fabulous design! And to photographer Diana Domonkos Photography for capturing the evening. 04.01.2022 I went to hospital on New Years Eve, last year. I was there on-and -off for about 6 weeks. So l missed all the smoke, which is good, but while l was there l died, which is bad. But it was only for a few minutes, which is good. Of course everyone asks me about my experience while l was 'dead.' But being an atheist and all that l didn't experience much at all. 02.01.2022 I just listened to this illuminating podcast by two very learned people with a string of letters after their names, and even a couple of letters BEFORE their names. They discuss, at length, the dreaded virus and its effect on the human race and other species and biomes. Warning: It is and hour and a half long, so l have condensed the jist of it down to five minutes, then l have thrown in my two bob's worth for good measure.
