23.01.2022 TOY OF THE MONTH! PICNIC SET!!! It is the first day of spring! Picnic season ... So many benifits of pretend/dramatic play! Not to mention the hand eye coordination, patience, gross motor skill development and hand strengthening required to practice cutting these wooden foods and shaping the triangle cake slices into a circle. Ticks all the boxes Get the kids out into the yard for a picnic when the sun shines and watch the flowers bloom

19.01.2022 Look at the differences between a typical preschool child’s hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isn’t a...ble to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. . All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready. via @Raisingherbarefoot
19.01.2022 This World Children’s Day, Product Safety Australia is urging parents and loved ones buying toys online to check that they’re safe and to report any product safety issues, as part of an international campaign on the safety of toys sold online. https://www.productsafety.gov.au//buying-toys-online-keep-
17.01.2022 "Johnnie does have more toys than you, I tell him. But, did you know those are the only toys he gets to play with? He doesn’t get to go to the toy library and... choose new toys like you do. He doesn’t get to go to the toy library?, my son replies in concerned disbelief. No, I explain, You’re lucky you get to go to the toy library. What would you rather have: all of Johnnie’s toys or go to the toy library? Toy library, definitely is the firm reply. https://www.moretimethanmoney.co.nz/why-to-join-a-toy-libr/
17.01.2022 Would highly recommend these courses! Locally run and excellent
17.01.2022 Did you know we have a KINDERFEETS KINDERBOARD? Heres a little spiel about its amazingness... Watch your child’s imagination take over as the Kinderboard becomes a seesaw, balancing toy, slide, stepping stool, boat, resting nook and so much more! Originally introduced in Waldorf Early Childhood classrooms, the multi-use Kinderboard supports children’s mental and physical development while also serving as a versatile and sustainable option for explorative free play.... With the ability to support up to 220 kilograms, the Kinderboard offers open-ended play for toddlers, young children, teens and even adults! Boost the development of balance skills, coordination, body awareness and physical strength while also stimulating the imagination. The options are endless. My son likes to use it as a slide off the couch and my daughter loves it as a car ramp and upside down climbing step!

09.01.2022 Super cute under water finger puppets with a soft show facade for all the magical, imaginative play goodness I used to love performing for my parents, doing all sorts of dramatic shows and puppetry. Probably because i liked the attention but it was also great to get creative and flex the imagination muscle We have this and a few similar puppet shows like this in our library!

06.01.2022 Toy libraries are the ultimate parenting secret for saving money and clutter! Toy library members swap toys instead of buying them which saves so much money. T...hey also save lots of space, borrowing larger activity toys and returning them in a few weeks when children feel like playing with something different! Children love choosing whatever they want to borrow and parents can say YES we can take that home! See more
