12.01.2022 Round 1 is almost upon us! After a good hit out in a practice match against Newstead, Castlemaine is in its final week of preparations for the first match of the season. Last chance to sign up and register to be available for the first week, with A and A Reserve playing Barker's Creek. Training is on Tuesday and Thursday, with teams and dinner after the Thursday session.

Following the success of the Castlemaine United CC versus Barkers Creek CC women's matches in the past few years, a new CDCA women's league will be created this season. With hopefully 4 teams competing in the inaugural season, Castlemaine United will be looking for a strong start in this historic competition. All who are interested in beginning or continuing their cricketing journey are encouraged to stay tuned, with more information concerning the competition to be released in September!

02.01.2022 Did you know that it was a Castlemaine team that was the first to defeat the English in Victoria? In March 1862, a team of Castlemaine locals defeated the English professional team at Wattle Creek. The catch - it was a Castlemaine XXII taking on the English XI. Regardless, this was common practice for a touring English team at the time, and they generally beat local teams comfortably. The scoreline in this game read: England 10/80 and 10/68... Castlemaine 21/54 and 18/96 This is just one of the many interesting episodes in the history of cricket in Castlemaine, and is commemorated by the plaque shown in Wattle Creek.
