21.01.2022 Total Fire Ban for North Western Weather District (Warrumbungle Shire) on Monday 30 November under VERY HIGH Fire Danger Rating. Total Fire Ban rules No fires during a Total Fire Ban.... A total fire ban means no fires out in the open. A total fire ban helps limit the potential of fires developing. During a Total Fire Ban you cannot light, maintain or use a fire in the open, or to carry out any activity in the open that causes, or is likely to cause, a fire. General purpose hot works (such as welding, grinding or gas cutting or any activity that produces a spark or flame) are not to be done in the open. The NSW RFS strongly recommends you reconsider activities such as such using a tractor or slashing, to help reduce the chance of a fire starting on your property. Under certain conditions, the NSW RFS may issue a Harvest Safety Alert. For more information about fire danger ratings visit https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/fire-information/fdr-and-tobans

17.01.2022 Thursday 1st October is the official start of the Bush Fire Danger Period (BFDP) for Castlereagh Zone and the NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) is urging residents to prepare for the fire season now. During the Bush Fire Danger Period any person wishing to light a fire will require a permit in the following local government areas: Warrumbungle Gilgandra ... From Thursday 1st October 2020 until the end of the Bush Fire Danger Period on 31st March 2021, people wishing to light a fire in the open will require a permit, which are free and can be obtained from your local fire station or Fire Control Centre. Residents should prepare their property by removing flammable materials from their yards, clearing gutters of leaves, checking hoses and, where appropriate, conducting hazard reduction activities. While it is important to continue hazard reduction we have all seen the devastation that bush fires can bring to a community, so we strongly urge people to exercise caution when carrying out these activities. When conditions are particularly bad, such as on days of Severe, Extreme or Catastrophic Fire Danger, the NSW RFS may declare a Total Fire Ban, prohibiting the lighting of any fire in the open, even if you have a fire permit. Never leave a fire unattended and if a fire does escape, it is essential to call Triple Zero (000) immediately so that emergency services can respond accordingly and minimise the damage.
