25.01.2022 A very enjoyable evening at the inaugural Pinnacle Foundation event in Tasmania. The Pinnacle Foundation supports marginalised and disadvantaged LGBT+ students who are studying year 12, or tertiary studies at TAFE and University. This event, which was part of the Night of a Thousand dinners event with similar events being held across Australia, was held in the Red Awnings Building in Murray St. It was well attended with fabulous entertainment, all in all a great night, a great organisation and a most fabulous venue.

19.01.2022 I’m so excited, finally after so many failed attempts the Bridge is going up over the Domain Highway. Can wait to ride over it.
19.01.2022 Fabulous evening at the Diwali Festival at Frankies. Diwali is the Hindu festival of lights and is celebrated every autumn. Diwali symbolises the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance." It’s an extremely popular Hindu festival and the celebration at Frankie’s is in full swing this evening with great food, dancing, music and my favourite the Turbans. The gentleman at ‘Turbans 4 Australia’ were most generous and gifted me this beautiful turban on the provision that I don’t wear it when drinking alcohol or smoke and I would imagine take any mood altering substances. As I don’t do any of these I shall be wearing it till it comes apart as I love it. thank you Turbans 4 Australia for your generosity. A great night.
18.01.2022 Probably too late to post so if you still want to have a say and haven’t voted you’ll have to hand deliver to Hobart City Council centre 16 Elizabeth St, Hobart or Hobart City Council Town Hall, Macquarie St, Hobart, during normal business hours. The poll closes at 1000 am on Tuesday 30th Oct. Authorised by Cat Schofield 28 Allambee Cres Glebe 7000. https://www.facebook.com/633408586694291/posts/1941122815922855/
18.01.2022 My Op Shop challenge present. One of the best ever and what every menopausal women needs. A fan that works off the computer and it even has a clock - it’s amazing. Thank you Mandy Beveridge.
18.01.2022 This year I decided to volunteer as a Marshall for the Tas pride parade. What a beautiful day, what a fantastic turn out. I didn’t have to do much and was so fortunate as I got to walk beside the Police Band all the way. They were really good and clearly a crowd pleaser. It was a great vibe along the route and very celebratory once down on parliament lawns. Shades of Mardi Gras this year I think. Good to catch up with Acting Mayor Helen Burnet as well. Best turn out I’ve seen in Tassie.
17.01.2022 Just about to wrap up at the TERP12 forum with Bec Thomas
13.01.2022 At last the new council has been announced. Looks like a good diverse mix of voices and some new faces. l hope this means good things for Hobart. Congratulations to everyone and in particular the new friends I have made over the past few weeks. Xx
12.01.2022 Quiet weekend now all the campaigning is over after eating some amazing waffles at the Hobart Twilight Market. Great to see this is a dog friendly event. Still time to get your vote in by tomorrow but you’ll have to walk it there which is a good way to keep healthy.
09.01.2022 Great breakfast this morning to celebrate international men’s day. It was good to see a focus on looking after yourself with the event providing an opportunity to get your Blood pressure checked. Friend and colleague Bec Thomas leading the way .
07.01.2022 The results are in and I didn’t get in. A little disappointed but not surprised. Learnt lots and looking forward to four years from now when I’ll be back. Thank you all I’ve learnt so much and really enjoyed it. Congratulations to all those that got in. It looks like we have a bit more diversity and youth in the council at this stage. Hope this means good news for Hobart.
07.01.2022 I Attended a health forum last night where the Health Minister, the Health Department Secretary and the States Chief Psychiatrist talked about the health service and were available to answer questions. I was surprised by how few people turned up given the almost constant media attention on health services. What I heard were some very positive as well as not so positive stories about some peoples experience of our health services but also some real hope for the future based on... many of the current initiatives being implemented. Its clearly not all bad news and as someone who works in the Health Dept it’s good to know what’s working well so it can be replicated. The big message for me was the genuine involvement of those with lived experience, consumers and patients being essential to doing things better and providing more person centred care into the future, across all areas of health. In order to do that we all need to get involved so hopefully in future more people will turn up to forums such as these to be both informed and included. Essential for a healthy community. authorised by Cat Schofield 28 Allambee Cres, Glebe 7000 See more
06.01.2022 Christmas Op Shop Challenge with Mandy Beveridge all wrapped up for the year. Rules of the challenge. Pair up with a like minded friend. Set a limit (ours is $10). Gifts to be sourced from an op/charity shop or tip shop. Exchange gifts - invariably a great gift, and always a surprise. Select the best op shop shopper for the year. This year I think I’m on a winner.

03.01.2022 Last day of the TERP12 (Towards Eliminating Restrictive Practice) today. The focus of the 2 days has been how we can work to eliminate seclusion and restraint in all mental health facilities throughout Australia. These practices are still used in most acute mental health facilities and while they offer a short term solution to an often complex and immediate problem they are traumatising for the person who has been secluded and/or restrained and distressing for the staff and other consumers in the facility as well as a persons family and carers. For many of our consumers who have complex trauma histories these practices are re-traumatising. We need to do better and it’s been inspiring to attend the conference to hear about the progress that has been made thus far and realise the commitment at all levels to eliminate these practices.
