25.01.2022 Coping during COVID-19 2: Get some perspective. With the rapidly changing world we now live in, take a moment to appreciate the little things or the things you maybe have taken for granted before and be grateful. It could be a lot worse, but focusing on it will ensure it is.

25.01.2022 Reward is in giving When I came up with the concept of Catalyst Aus. it was and still is my vision to pass on to clients the skills and knowledge I’ve been fortunate enough to gain over the past twenty years. It has never been my intent to have a million clients or followers, but develop lasting relationships with clients that ensured that they came back to Catalyst Aus. as their primary solution provider.... This week I’ve had a client request a second workshop relating to the development of their teams new vision and mission statements. I look forward to seeing what this team have produced through shared thinking and collaboration. It’s a start and again I get to help them take their next step in reaching their full potential. Reward is in giving, you may just have someone else’s solution. You might just give them something life changing. #give #leadership #teamwork #resilience #influencer #sale #smallbusinessvictoria #smallbusinessaustralia #latrobevalley #gippsland #highperformancehabits #success #instagood

24.01.2022 Striving for Excellence Trying to achieve perfection is a fast way to madness. But excellence is something all of us can aspire to and consistently achieve. ... Being diligent in your efforts to achieve excellence, doing the basics well over and over again improves potential to produce excellent outcomes. Focus on the process and not the end state. If you make an error, take note of where the error occurred and what you need to change/improve. When you attempt the task again adjust your performance, breaking the process down into manageable parts. When the task is done well once, repeat it to confirm the process and the skill. It’s like mastering an exercise, you will become truly good at it following repetitious behaviour. It is a choice and requires discipline.., but is attainable and transferable to every facet of our lives. Practicing excellence breeds excellence. Have an excellent week. #everydayexcellence #discipline #choice #leadyourself #highperformancehabits #success #instagood #vibes #smallbusinessvictoria #smallbusinessaustralia #latrobevalley #leadership #gippsland #influencer

22.01.2022 Accepting feedback How receptive are you to feedback, constructive criticism, what ever you want to label it? Does it hit you in the ego or do you ask for more information? Do you ask the provider to quantify it, e.g. give a specific example?... If you’re giving it, try to give it; - Immediately, - Positively, - Constructively, and - Honestly. High performance environments are built on feedback. #feedback #effectivecommunication #highperformancehabits #leadership #teamwork #tribe #success #smallbusinessvictoria #smallbusinessaustralia #latrobevalley #gippsland

22.01.2022 Some of the feedback strategies employed in our training programs. 360 degree feedback - feedback is provided to individuals in small teams by each of their team mates and may be positive, negative or otherwise. Rate-ur-mate - done independently, each individual is required to rate each of their team mates out of a score depending on the size of their team and justify why they gave the score they did (written activity in silence).... +ve/-ve - one person can give another feedback, but must give a positive and a negative. This is done to see how the negative is communicated and if the feedback is quantified. Flying blind - activities will be conducted where no feedback is given about performance. A lot of people crave feedback and may actually struggle when they don’t get it, especially if they thrive off positive feedback and believe they are deserved of it. All Catalyst Aus. soft skills programs and team building activities employ feedback strategies. #effectivecommunication #leadership #mindset #highperformancehabits #success #leadyourself #discipline #teamwork #honestyisthebestpolicy #smallbusinessvictoria #smallbusinessaustralia #latrobevalley #gippsland #catalystaus

22.01.2022 Be like a Duck Watching a duck on a pond you’ll notice they are peaceful, calm on the surface. Underneath, out of sight, they are working hard to move to where they are going. So how can we remain calm:... - Maintain control over your emotions, - Pause and take time to consider incoming information, good or bad, - Be composed and considered in your response, - When stressed use breathing or mindfulness techniques, - Be in the moment, - Acknowledge and accept the -ves, focus on the positives and keep moving forward, - Put time into planning and preparation, - Use goal setting strategies, and - look for opportunities to work to your strengths. All of the above are taught as soft skills in Catalyst Aus. training programs. Contact Catalyst Aus. and let us help your team reach their full potential. #beaduck #leadyourself #teamwork #resilience #leadership #highperformancehabits #smallbusinessvic #smallbusinessaustralia #influencer #instagood #latrobevalley #gippsland #pictureoftheday

19.01.2022 Enjoy the journey It will be paved with good times and bad. Embrace them both and look for an opportunity to learn and grow from every experience. To increase your chances of success, be sure to;... - Focus on the bigger picture (your goal), - Take purposeful action, plan but don’t overthink..just do, - Move forward, fast or slow, just keep moving forward. A famous quote from VFL/AFL legend E.J. Whitten, ‘You need to inspire me, don’t think, do!’. Success is in the doing. #enjoythejourney #leadyourself #resilience #highperformancehabits #influencer #consultant #coach #takeaction #fun #photooftheday

19.01.2022 Maintain Focus. There are so many unknowns at the moment, which can affect our ability to remain focused. So how can we re-focus? Remove unneeded/wanted distractions, this maybe media, peoples chatter, etc.... The write down explicitly what it is you want to do and create a plan (keep it simple), breaking it down into manageable parts. Identify failure points and come up with solutions, unknown failure points will come up but will be easier to deal with because everything else is planned. Then prioritise what you need to do and begin working on each manageable part. Trust in your capabilities and understand and accept that things WILL not alway go to plan! Slow yourself down..deliberately (take a breathe if need be) if you get overwhelmed.. problem solve and keep taking purposeful action. If you get distracted go back to your plan. Revisit the plan frequently (set a time daily/weekly)to remain focused. #focus #plan #win #highperformancehabits #smallbusinessowner #entrepreneur #success #covid19 #ownership

18.01.2022 Leaders set the example. Build a culture of excellence that becomes the minimum standard.

17.01.2022 Is your team singing off the same sheet of music? Have you ever seen a choir singing in harmony? The chorister leads, they pick the song. They make the decision about what the choir will sing. The choir knows the song.... Members of the choir have many different roles in order to produce a beautiful collective voice. After the chorister chooses the song for the team, each choir member is required to perform their role, to reach the right note at the right time so the collective sound is one of brilliance. There is no complaining about the song choice, everyone in the choir plays their role in order to create a single thing of beauty. They do the basics well to achieve excellence through cohesion. Is your team in tune? Are your leaders leading? Is everyone in your team playing their role? Keep it simple and ensure everyone is singing from the same sheet of music. #teamwork #highperformancehabits #dothebasicswell #leadership #influencer #smallbusinessvictoria #instagood #smallbusinessaustralia

12.01.2022 Sunday Nights Are for sitting on the couch, in my tracksuit pants, planning the week in my diary. This means writing out things I want to achieve through the week. Not just making a random list but prioritising what needs to be done, considering the working week is long and no doubt will see these priorities change. Many of these things will get done, but the key is to remain flexible, a few things may get moved to the right a day or so.... The most important thing is there is a plan, some changes can be anticipated, e.g. a meeting going 15-30mins over time. Then I might gain time if a meeting or event is cancelled. All of these things present an opportunity. Your time might not be valuable to others, but it is to you. Use it to your advantage, plan it in detail and it will better enable you to deal with the unexpected as well as get the things you NEED to get done. As you tick things off you’ll get momentum for the next thing and the next. Enjoy your week. #leadyourself #planforsuccess #highperformancehabits #smallbusinessvictoria #smallbusinessaustralia #businessaustralia #smallbusinesscoach #success #win #influencer

08.01.2022 Be apart of the solution If there is a problem effecting your teams performance don’t wait for someone else to step up and do or say something. Identify the problem and bring it to the attention of the team. Consider options for an effective solution and put it in place.... Don’t wait for someone else to say or do something. Assuming that someone else will see, raise and deal the issue isn’t likely to happen and may mean it goes unchanged. Don’t be the person who says that’s a problem and I wish someone would fix it..you’re a someone, you can fix it! Leadership doesn’t require position or title. #stepup #leadership #teamwork #highperformancehabits #speakup #smallbusinessvic #smallbusinessaustralia #victoria #latrobevalley #gippsland

06.01.2022 Are your expectations aligned? As the #covid19 pandemic continues and brings with it continual change, there has been much discussion about employees being trusted to deliver while working from home. The most important principle of team performance is trust.... If you’re a leader, does the uncertainty of the pandemic have you doubting your team because of the unusual working arrangements many are forced to endure. If there is uncertainty it may be time to check that expectations have been communicated clearly and understood at all levels. Remember your team don’t have the same availability of peers, leaders and potentially other resources. Problem solving may now be more difficult not being able to get to the workplace. #communication is critical and it may be time to check and realign #expectations with your #team. #leadership #smallbusinessowner #success #highperformancehabits
