15.01.2022 What a day yesterday at the @hobartpowerliftingclub Open. From a coaching perspective I wanted this comp to be about introducing newbies to the sport as well as giving my more seasoned lifters a fun, low priority comp with friends to round out their year. @marshalldawg 9/9 first comp, absolutely blowing his gym numbers out of the water.... @lp_powerlifting with 200/105/225, 8/9, at 75kg in his first comp. Keen to see what this young man does with more prep time. @shazlaffan, @josieeshort, @madelainemlewis, and @drbeefington who had a ~4 week prep, take the scary plunge into powerlifting and make PBs in a high pressure environment. (and of course @davepage1980 who @chiefton110 helped guide to some nice PBs!) @essie_7 with some more competition experience under her belt; no PBs unfortunately but she has been dieting hard since Nationals for perhaps a weight class drop next year. @sara_waitzer 9/9 and PBs in every lift . @jamesbritton_ 9/9. James has recently started a very physical job and training took a huge hit. But he showed up with the right attitude and made a big total PB anyway and is better for the experience. @abbeywfit a nice big total PB. We took a stab at the national squat record of 131kg but just a few KG too heavy! Bounced back nicely to hit all her benches and deadlifts, 8/9. @dg.powerlifting with 653kg as a 94kg junior, a 29kg total PB and 9/9. @jesspaddy with 371kg in the 72kg class, 9/9 for a 20kg total PB, matching clubmate @roooooby but coming 2nd due to bodyweight. An awesome battle that they both impressively rose to the occasion for. #catalystsap @hobartpowerliftingclub @gtt.performance.centre

11.01.2022 Open Nats Great day for these 3, hitting pbs in every lift in their biggest comp of the year! Sara Quin 53kg class... 9/9 Squat 104kg (3kg pb) Bench 68kg (4kg pb) Deadlift 111kg (4kg pb) Total 283kg (11kg pb) Jessica Edmundson 72kg class 7/9 Squat 134kg (8kg pb) Bench 67kg (5kg pb) Deadlift 150kg (8kg pb) Total 351kg (21kg pb) Jasmine Knowles 58kg class 9/9 Squat 138kg (7kg pb) Bench 81kg (4kg pb) Deadlift 163kg (18kg pb) Total 382kg (29kg pb) Keen to see the placings unfold when all the results are collated! Vids to come. Onto the next one #catalystsap Hobart Powerlifting Club

09.01.2022 Transformation: Esther Cawthorn Esther's journey over the past 10 years has been pretty substantial. At 40 years old she was 140kg and the most unhealthy she's been. Through judo and rugby she dropped to 120kg and then reached a lot healthier and stronger 110kg with @gtt.performance.centre team training and @terry_oneill_fitness to the point of where we started in January '19.... Now in the year she turns 50, Esther is so much leaner, healthier and happier and has huge purpose in her training. She has been powerlifting for the past two years and has competed 8 times and achieved 2nd place at Nationals in her class both years. We have achieved so much through consistency and work ethic. She has been dieting harder over the long term than anyone I've worked with and accepted the lifestyle that comes with seeking huge change. We've made it to 94kg and our mission is to continue downwards to the 84kg class for Nationals this year! #catalystsap Hobart Powerlifting Club GTT
