23.01.2022 The end of the financial year is a great time to revisit your goals and review the progress you have made in the first 6 months of the year. Most of us sit around in the first week of January and set a new years resolution (or two) to get a different result in our life in the year ahead. But research shows that less than 25% of people stick to these resolutions after 30 days and only 8% of people end up achieving them. ... If you set yourself some NY resolutions in January, how are they going? Are you on track to be part of the 8% of people who will achieve their goals in 2020? See more
22.01.2022 One of the winners of the @choiceaustralia Shonky awards was the Harvey Norman Latitude credit card with a whooping interest rate of 22.74% (available to unemployed consumers too ). When people are financially distressed it is easy for them to feel like this is a good solution for that urgent or unexpected expense such as the washing machine or fridge needing to be replaced. If you have a cash safety net, you will not have to rely on credit cards for your immediate needs whe...n you have an emergency. 22.01.2022 Not many people like talking about budgets, particularly on a Monday morning. If the idea of sitting down to tackle your budget fills you with dread and is constantly being put off for 'another time', you're not alone. If you set aside some time to sit down and do this during the week you'll feel great come Friday. It's the first step in taking control of your finances and ensuring you are directing your money to your goals. It's the first step to your financial freedom.... #financialfreedom #financialsucces #takecontrol #budget #growyourwealth #liveyourideallife
22.01.2022 There's no escaping the fact that this is heavy thinking for everyone. For a few lucky people the answers to these questions are straight forward but for the majority of us, they are anything but. And that's OK. The most important thing is that you start and finish the conversation with your loved ones and work through each aspect to reach a decision together. This may take some time to do as these are big decisions, but persist with it. Don't brush it to the side and leave ...it to fester unactioned. Having your Will in place will give you great peace of mind and a sense of relief knowing that you no longer have to worry about this important area of your personal finance. #financialsecurity #estateplanning #makingawill #catalystwealthgroup #sutherlandshire
22.01.2022 Time - the greatest resource we have.
22.01.2022 We love SMART goals! The SMART goal structure is what we use with our clients when helping them set their financial goals. This approach is focused on you setting goals that are: Specific: well defined and clear Measurable: with specific criteria that you can measure your progress against Achievable: attainable and not impossible to achieve... Realistic: within reach and relevant to you and the direction you want to go in life Timely: with a clearly defined timeline, including a starting date and target date. The purpose of this is to create urgency. An example of a SMART financial goal may be, Pay off my $5,000 credit card debt by June 2021. Or Have $100,000 in savings for our first home deposit by Mid 2022. The SMART framework is one that covers all bases and allows you to create certainty about what will be required to achieve your goals. This comes from getting specific about what you want to achieve and when you want to achieve it which then allows you to start thinking about what will be required from you to achieve your goals. We'll share some more tips on goal setting later this week including what we feel is the most important piece of information you need to know to ensure you achieve your set goals.
21.01.2022 Turning the small daily action that you need to do to reach your goals into a habit, will be the biggest contributor to your success in achieving your goals. Start now. Every step you take is a step closer to your end goal.

15.01.2022 End of financial year is upon us. Below we have outlined three strategies that will help you reduce your tax this year (or next). 1. Contribute to super: You can reduce your taxable income (the income you have to pay tax on for the year) by making a one off deductible contribution into super. ... If you do this you have to make sure that between your annual concessional contributions for the financial year less than $25,000 (including what your employer has contributed on your behalf). 2. Prepay deductible expenses: There are some expenses that you may have, that are tax deductible and can help reduce your tax each year. The two big ones we talk with clients about is 1. Income protection premiums 2. Investment property interest repayments With these expenses you can prepay them in advance. Meaning you can pay for the next 12 months of premiums/interest in advance before the end of the financial year. What this allows you to do is double the deductions you have available this financial year - the last 12 months of repayments/premiums plus the payment in advance. 3. Ger Covid - 19 tax ready If you were made to work from home following the outbreak of covid-19 earlier this year. Then there may be some expenses you can claim as deductions this year, that may not have been relevant in previous years. These expenses include - Electricty cost - Cleaning costs - Phone & internet expenses - Computer consumables: paper, printer cartridges and stationary - Home office equipmemt You will neee to speak with your Accountant to confirm which expenses will be appropriate for you to claim. We hope this post has been useful and given you a few ideas, on ways you can reduce your tax bill this financial year.
