24.01.2022 On Tuesday, Tamara and I took an hour to volunteer and deliver meals to the elderly. We wanted to give back to our community so we thought this was a perfect opportunity! It was so great chatting and talking to the lovely people, who are so appreciative. We simply collect the meals with a roster from the hospital and deliver them to the people on the list. Wendy Colls is always on the lookout for more volunteers so get in contact with her ([email protected]) if you would like to volunteer.

23.01.2022 STOP & THINK: The Think Chair This practice is so important for all business owners, as most of us struggle to find the time to stop and think. Damien James (founder of Aged Footcare Australia) made it part of his everyday evening routine to sit in his dedicated thinking chair with pen and paper. ... He says, "I answer a series of questions about the business [that] are designed to help me see invisible things like threats, weaknesses or even opportunities, and if I spot anything Ill build it into my next 90-day plan. What you cant see kills you. So making that a priority when my brain is fully recharged is really important." We think this is SUCH a great practice to implement into our own routines, so we wanted to share it with all of you. Do you have any rituals that help you gain perspective on your business? Let us know!

14.01.2022 Time is running out for employers to take up the Governments superannuation guarantee (SG) amnesty, which expires at 11:59pm on 7 September 2020. The amnesty allows eligible employers to disclose and pay SG charge (SGC) amounts owing from 1 July 1992 to 31 March 2018, without incurring penalties (up to 200% of the SGC) or administration fees ($20 per employee, per quarter) that would otherwise apply. SGC payments made during the amnesty period (i.e., 24 May 2018 to 7 Sep...tember 2020) are tax deductible. To participate in the amnesty, applications must be received by the ATO by 11:59pm on 7 September. Even if employers are unable to pay the amount owing, the ATO has advised it will work with employers to establish a payment plan tailored to their circumstances. Employers with unpaid SGC amounts that do not come forward during the amnesty period risk significant penalties applying (including a minimum of 100% of the unpaid SGC) if later discovered by the ATO. Importantly, frequent reporting by super funds and employers has increased the ATOs ability to identify employers with underpaid SG amounts. For more details, refer to the ATO document, SG amnesty ends 7 September 2020. See more

14.01.2022 R U OKAY? This campaign spreads such important awareness about checking in with those around you - your friends, family, colleagues, neighbours. But while asking are you okay? is a great place to start, its also important to recognise that this question can be easily deflected. Perhaps if we focus more on questions like, how have you been lately - whats been happening?, or you havent seemed like yourself for a little while, Id love to listen to whats going on for y...ou our check-in will be a lot more proactive. But after we start to listen, its equally as important to follow up with the right support afterwards. We wont always know what to say! Dont fret. You can simply ask, how can I support you?, or what can I do to help you get through this?. Checking-in with loved ones and others around you is vital - we cant always know what everyone is going through behind closed doors, but we can always assure them that we are there to support them.
