24.01.2022 11 November Remembrance Day On 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. With their armies retreating and close to collapse, German leaders signed an Armistice, bringing to an end the First World War. We appreciate our veterans each and every day, along with those still serving our country. Thank you to all who have served and still serving, along with their families for their service to this nation!

24.01.2022 International Womens Day 2020 campaign theme is #EachforEqual An equal world is an enabled world. Individually, were all responsible for our own thoughts and actions - all day, every day. We can actively choose to challenge stereotypes, fight bias, broaden perceptions, improve situations and celebrate womens achievements. Collectively, each one of us can help create a gender equal world. Lets all be #EachforEqual. This year Caterpillar UGM Employees were encour...aged to attend the International Womens Day Morning Tea on Friday this was designed to "celebrate" and "empower" women. Those that attended enjoyed a delicious morning tea, followed by 3 amazing local women, inspiring and encouraging by sharing their personal journeys, businesswoman Kelly Elphinstone, author Rachael Treasure and womens charity Share the Dignity. 23.01.2022 The HRV Burnie Adventurers Group, a Burnie D&I initiative, last weekend bravely ventured out of Burnie along the road to Waratah. Checking out three waterfalls in one day - Upper Cam Falls, Philosopher Falls and the Waratah Falls. The day before it had been snowing everywhere, but they could not have asked for a better day, the sun was shining. A short 5 minute walk took us to the Upper Cam Falls at Hampshire. A small waterfall approximately 4 metres in height, popular with... photographers due to the formation of the rocks. Then making our way South West to Waratah for a 1.5hr return walk to Philosopher Falls. This is a stunning multi-tier waterfall encased in gorgeous thick rain forest. The formed track meanders its way through the forest, before reaching a purpose-built foot bridge that crosses Arthur River. Continuing along the north-western side until you reach a staircase that descends 210 steps to the lookout of the falls. A 15 minute walk to the Waratah Falls followed by a nice warm hearty lunch at the Waratah Pub. Please share you stories or pictures in the comments. See more

22.01.2022 Dont Go Breaking Your Heart! February a time for flowers, candy, cute little cards, anda heart health checkup?!?! The prevalence of heart disease amongst Australians was around one in twenty (4.8% or 1.2 million people) in 2017-18 and has remained fairly consistent over time. Heart disease has remained more common among males (5.4%) compared with females (4.2%) and over time, the gap does not appear to be narrowing. But theres good news! Heart disease can be prevente...d or improved with a few simple lifestyle changes. Work with your doctor to manage your blood pressure, your weight, and your cholesterol. A few tips for heart health: If You Smoke, Stop. Smoking damages blood vessels and is a leading contributor to heart disease. Exercise. Aim for at least 150 min per week of moderate physical activity. Manage Your Diabetes. If you have diabetes, you are at an increased risk for heart disease. The best way to lower your risk is to keep your blood sugars in check. Diet. Food has a powerful impact on heart disease. Try to fill at least half your plate with vegetables, and reduce foods that are high in sodium, sugar, and saturated fats. Manage Your Medical Conditions. If you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, work with your physician and take your medication as prescribed to manage these conditions. If left uncontrolled, they can be damaging to your heart. This February, be your own Valentine and get your heart health on track! http://bit.ly/2uHhpa0 See more

22.01.2022 Thank you to TMEC and all our sponsors for making this event possible. Day 1 and 2 has been epic, without a doubt the biggest 2 days on MTB I have ever had. Ar...ound 250km in total, not on distance but the terain and elevation. Bikes and bodies broken and bruised! Chuck in a kayak and a trekking stage, it’s been a bloody solid start. Day 3 gives us a welcome break from our bikes. We head in the the Freycinet National park for a 35k trek. It will be a welcome relief. See more

21.01.2022 Congratulating Rob Harding on 25 years of service with Elphinstone/Caterpillar here at UGM Burnie! Rob started at Elphinstone on 29 January 1995. (well maybe a day later - missed his first shift). His first role was updating sheets on drawings. Moving to parts books, using the manual drawing board, working on small projects before moving to product health, introducing Hardox into the business. Rob has been involved in many projects in Engineering through out these years. He was one of the first two in Engineering to learn Pro/e. Recently he has spent time in Rayong as Engineering Support and continues to do this from Burnie. Rob has many stories to share from his 25 year journey. Finally like to take the opportunity to congratulate Rob on his achievement of 25 years. Well Done !

09.01.2022 In 2016 Caterpillar Burnie Employees helped in the construction of a wetland treatment system at Burnies Waste Management Centre. Council had been granted approval from the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) to develop the wetlands treatment system at the BWMC to treat an average of 490kL of water per day to a quality that is suitable for discharge to the tributary of Cooee Creek, which runs through the site. Employees spent the afternoon planting suitable plants to help develop this area. Pictures included show the progress of the site.

09.01.2022 Moving well. This has been a gentle start to what will be a massive afternoon.

06.01.2022 Burnie Caterpillar continuing to find ways for our D & I Activities. 4WD to St Albans Bay. We couldnt have asked for better weather, the sun was shining the water was flat and the dunes werewell, sandy! We headed off early through Browns creek road where Adrian thought he would pick up a little bonnet ornament. I reckon the rooster is still shaking its tail feathers. With a short stop at Beaconsfield we headed on to Bellingham where the smell of testosterone hit the... air, or should I say deflated the air. What a sight, 15 vehicles lined up with 15 butt cracks all showing deflating tyres. (This was one photo I couldnt bring myself to take). With tyre pressures down and our beach briefing held, those that knew how to put vehicles in 4WD low range and select diff lock did so, those that didnt. the fun was yet to come. The beach trip was smooth and scenery spectacular. We hit the first inland sand dune and those that still had their vehicles in high range, may have had to have a second attempt, hey Dave. And those that needed a little less air may have also needed to reverse up for a bit. Darren, was that you? After giving strict instructions to take responsibility for the people in your vehicle and dont leave them behind, the photographer was left high and dry on the very first sand dune with her husband continuing to drive on. Thanks, Andrew, for coming to the rescue. By the time the rescue happened, and all of the sand tipped out of boots, we missed the action of the speedy blue triton having some issues with a little bit of sand, or was that, having issues with the diff lock? Appreciate your assistance Lucas with helping Rob out The dune was next and what a magnificent sight at the top out over St. Albans Bay. We learnt what a difference lower tyre pressures make when ascending dunes even in vehicles with a lot less power, great advice from our tour guides A1 and A2. I actually think the mighty YN106 was just having so much fun that he wanted to have a couple of extra cracks at the dune. Unfortunately, our Jeep Recovery Vehicle didnt have to be put through its paces. Given a couple of more kilometres of sand driving it might have been a different story. The amount of sand that was removed from the undercarriage of the Jeep would have added a few extra kilos. Martyn, Parks and Wildlife are asking for all their sand to be put back on their beach. Off the dunes and back onto the beach we headed into Bridport and stopped at The Bunker Club for lunch and a refreshment and then headed through to Lilydale to check out The Tunnel. Built in 1888, 704 metres long and a million bricks laid in the course of 16 weeks, it was a great to wander through and look at the quality workmanship. A fantastic day out had by all. THANK YOU to Adrian and Andrew for guiding us! - And guess what. the next trip is already planned. See more

01.01.2022 Burnie always finding a way. Promoting Mens Health Week. Step Falls, Nietta, The HRV Burnie Adventurers Group was born on Saturday 20th June 2020. The Burnie D&I initiative was set to get us off the couch and enjoying the wonderful areas of nature we have all around us once Covid19 restrictions lifted in Tasmania. The first Adventure was to the Castra Circuit at the back of Ulverstone which led us to 3 amazing waterfalls. We set out expecting rain given the forecast w...as 20-30mm. This didnt deter us and we prepared well by donning rain coats and arming ourselves with Allens snakes lollies essentials for any good trekker !! We set off on the circuit at around 9.30am with Jacko, Raj and Guardy setting a good pace and looking after the mud hungry younger members of the group After a short walk Silver falls was heard, the overnight rain made for good first up viewing . We continued on the trail towards Castra falls with Baldy bringing up the rear making sure the safety of the group was paramount as the track became a little slippery, when all of a sudden a scared wallaby (Possibly scared up front by Rambo Jackson) came flying along the track and nearly bowled Baldy over .. We had a brief stop for an Allen snake refuel to keep the spirits high before our Junior Adventures (Thomas and Nate) took us on an unplanned long cut to Steps Falls . We broke no records and totally enjoyed our first outing together, 2.5 hours and 4.3Km making us thirsty for more.... Plans are in place for the next Adventure. Please feel free to Join.. All Welcome Rain Hail or Shine . Thanks Dave and Troy. Find us on Messenger HRV Burnie Adventurers
