20.01.2022 This week is Adopt a Less Adoptable Pet Week. Every day, families walk into shelters and, perhaps unconsciously, bypass some adoptable pets simply because of the way they look, their age, or because they have a condition such as FIV+, blindness or deafness. Pictured here are some of the cats who have been in our care for the longest, longing to find their furrever home, quirks and all. To enquire about meeting any of these lovely cats please email [email protected] Sammy - Black Female - Days in Care: 740 Two Patch - Grey and White Male - Days in Care: 193 Digga & Gizmo - Bonded Pair - Days in Care: 318

19.01.2022 Please Help! We’ve had over 150 cats and kittens surrendered into our care just this week with more coming every single day! We’re in desperate need of supplies to help us care for these homeless kitties, from the tiniest of newborns to our gentle seniors and everything in between. We currently need: - Hot chickens from Woolworths, Coles, Red Rooster or similar (we strip the meat and feed this to our sick cats to get them eating) - Paper cat litter (best litter for kitt...ens) - Soft blankets and towels (kittens can’t regulate body temperature and our cats need soft bedding) - Carriers (we’re sending 100+ cats/kittens to foster each week and not having carriers halts this process) - Wombaroo Cat Milk Replacer (used to feed orphans and transition kittens to solid food) - Kitten bottles & teats Donations can be dropped at Cat Haven 7 days a week, you can also make a monetary donation via our website: https://www.cathaven.com.au/donate-options/ Thank you from all the cats and staff at Cat Haven

19.01.2022 Hi, my name is Curby but my foster mum calls me Kenzi. I'm just snuggling with my foster mum while she works on finding me a new home. Could that be you? When I first arrived at my foster home; I was super scared and grumpy towards my mum. I would hiss, spit and try and swipe her when she came near me. But she was determined to show me that I was worthy of being loved and shown affection and oh boy is that my favourite thing now. Next to food of course! My mum and dad have ma...de me ready to find my forever home which is a little bit daunting but incredibly exciting all at the same time. They do want to mention though that I am not so great with other cats as I do get quite jealous when they try and steal some attention, so I would prefer if I was the one and only queen of the house. I love to play and scatter my toys all through the house and I will eat anything that you put in front of me and I mean everything. Even steal from the kitchen when there’s the chance. If you are after an adorable, loving, cheeky menace of a kitty than look no further. I am the one for you, email [email protected] to arrange a meet and greet with me
18.01.2022 Thank you to all our wonderful supporters for your generosity in donating some amazing pre-loved goods, books, etc for our upcoming Wet Nose Day (WND) happening this Sunday 10am to 3pm. We have got some incredible items which has kept our WND volunteers very busy sorting and pricing it all. We now have enough stock for WND and we cannot take any more due to lack of storage and ability to get it sorted and priced in time. However, we do still require plants and baked goods (with all ingredients listed to satisfy health and safety requirements). Once again, we are thankful we have so many supporters who are willing to get behind us

15.01.2022 Do you know what to do if you find a stray cat or kitten? Luckily there are a few options... 1. First we recommend speaking with your neighbours (within a 10-house radius) to ensure it doesn’t belong to a nearby household. 2. Phone vet clinics in the area to see if they have received a lost report for the cat.... 3. If you have no luck finding the cat's owner after both of these and if you are in a position to keep the cat, even if temporarily, we suggest that you place a post on Perth Pets Lost and Found on Facebook. 4. If you choose to house the cat temporarily, please complete the 'found cat report' on the cat info section of our website. 5. If you are not in a position to keep the cat, you may make an appointment to bring the cat into Cat Haven. We are open for surrenders on weekdays day (see open hours on our website) by appointment ONLY. Did you know about these handy tips? For more information head to the 'found a cat' section of our website! See more

09.01.2022 September is happy, healthy cat month and is a timely reminder that unsterilised cats will now start to roam and breed as the weather warms up. During the summer months we receive hundreds of unwanted kittens, pregnant and nursing females and stray tom cats. Sterilising your cat not only helps stop the cycle of unwanted litters but is also a requirement by law once cats reach 6 months of age. Sterilising your cat is the most important thing for your cats health and for animal welfare. Sterilising your cat also helps to reduce the risk of some cancers and can help reduce territorial marking, fighting and behavioral issues. For more information about sterilisation or to book your cat in please contact your local vet clinic today and help stop the cycle this summer!

06.01.2022 If your cats are anything like mine, grooming is fun for about 1 minute before they get sick of it and it ends in a game of chasey... Grooming gloves are ideal for situations like this because it allows you to groom your furry friends while they think they are just getting pats and scratches. The added bonus of these gloves is that it can improve the bonding experience which is super helpful for a scared kitty that may have just been adopted and is still... settling into their new home. You can shop our grooming gloves on the shop page of our website See more

06.01.2022 Best buddies, we are. Im Penguin the dashing tuxedo and this is Sylvester the tiger. We are best friends but have completely different personalities and so we complete each other. We both are afraid of big noises and will thrive in mature quiet home, no kids. We are very different but we love as much attention, only we show it in a different way. Me, Penguin, Im a very much extrovert and chatty boy. I adapted to my environment very quickly as Im very curious. I love pats... and back rubs and also cheek rubs. I may follow you everywhere when I get to know you well and definitely prefer to stay on my feet. Im not a lap cat but I will sleep next you if you are my favourite human. Im energetic and love talking as much as eating. Probably best to get me used to with a schedule or I might ask you to feed me all day. And me, Sylvester, Im the very shy and scared boy, Im an introvert and need to trust my humans before showing some affection. I hope my new pawrents will be very patient with me by working on trust and giving me attention without forcing. My foster mom spent a lot of time with me as she didnt want to let Penguin be the only star of the house. Im lovely and want to be loved too. Im a gentle kitty who does not get along with dogs. We are both nearly 4 years old, and would love a new home for our birthday! If you would like to meet us, please email [email protected]

I was found fending for myself on the streets and so I am feeling thankful to be at Cat Haven receiving regular meals, a warm bed and veterinary care. 05.01.2022 Cat Haven's cats of the week Bozo: Bozo was very shy when he first went his foster house but he worked out quickly he loved pats as long as no one moved too fast. Then he found his meow, and purr! And worked out that if he sings out, his foster parents will come and pat him. Best discovery ever! He now chats to them every time he sees them, and loves running up for pats and to smooch against their legs! Bozo is a sweetie that would thrive in a home with lots of ...pats and chats!! Dennis: Dennis is a very shy cat but the biggest secret smooch. He hides away from people until he’s had the chance to sniff them and make sure they’re safe, after that he won’t stop asking for pats and head and bum scratches. He literally asks to be scratched while eating food. He guides his foster parents to his bowl and then stares at them until they pet him and then starts eating. Dennis would do well in home with adults, mature kids and maybe even another pet to become more sociable! Sasha: You may remember Sasha from a post we made a few weeks ago... Sasha is still yet to be adopted. She is a sweet but shy girl who takes a while to warm up but once she is comfortable with you, she will happily accept pats all day as you walk past her favourite spot! If you are interested in adopting any of the beautiful souls here, send us an email at [email protected] See more
05.01.2022 Just one decade ago, cats like Boof, who has 3 legs, 1 eye, and missing teeth would have been euthanised. But since joining the getting to zero program our euthanasia rate has dropped dramatically from around 75% a decade ago to just 9% in 2017 and is still dropping! This means that cats like Boof are being saved and given a second chance! The national ‘Getting to Zero’ is a program that aims to minimise the euthanasia of healthy, treatable and re-homable... animals just like Boof. Had you ever heard of the Getting to Zero program? @almasarhanphotography See more

03.01.2022 Cat Havens annual Wet Nose Day is being held on Sunday, 8 November 2020 and we will have variety of stalls selling preloved goods (along with our other stalls). As always we are seeking donations from our wonderful supporters which will help us raise much needed funds.Types of donations we are after include good quality bric a brac, books, clothes and toys (we are unable to accept electrical items). We have a team of volunteers ready to sort and price everything ready f...or the big event. Whilst we are always very grateful for the generosity of donations of preloved goods, we ask that you please consider the condition of the items as we are unable to sell broken, stained, damaged goods as unfortunately it costs Cat Haven money to dispose of the items taking away precious funds for our cats. We are also seeking prizes for the event so if you have any unwanted Christmas/ birthday presents, bottles of wine or anything to be raffled off, wed be happy to take that off your hands to support our feline friends. Donations can be dropped off to Cat Haven during opening hours. Again, we thank you for your generosity. Dont forget to lock the event date in your diary!
