18.01.2022 "Separation is never ending and attachment is a basic human right." Statement from leading attachment scientists from around the world. "Even if asylum seeking ...is a crime, separating children from their parents is a form of kin punishment, the type of treatment found in authoritarian regimes that is antithetical to the United States and also illegal." Central theme: 1. This is 75 years of evidence-based science, 2. Forced separations (without access to a stable and available caregiver) are particularly dangerous and, for the sake of the children, must always be avoided. See more

17.01.2022 Good morning! I’ve been a bit quiet in Facebook land lately - this is because only a couple of months ago I took a full time position with the amazing music therapy organisation: Nordoff-Robbins, Australia. It’s been the craziest time, but so fulfilling. The staff are so lovely and incredibly skilled at what they do, and I’ve had the privilege to work with some of the most beautiful people from so many walks of life! What an adventure.

06.01.2022 THE MANY WAYS ANXIETY SHOWS ITSELF IN KIDS "Anxiety in children presents in many different ways. One thing I’ve noticed is that it’s usually been present for a ...long time before ‘problematic’ behavior is visible. As a parent, trust your intuition when you notice the small things and changes, and use attuned responses to help your child understand that their brain sometimes tricks them into believing safe things are dangerous (however also be willing to explore the possibility that there might be more going on and don’t ever stop advocating for your child’s right to feeling safe and supported)."
