21.01.2022 A thank all of those who supported my council election campaign. I had passionately hoped to represent common sense and the community’s best interests at council as well as protecting the green belt along Gardiners Creek Trail but I arrived in second place with 4,811 votes to Victor Franco at 5,478. Best wishes to my fellow candidates who ran as well. I have sent congratulations to Victor and wished him well as Gardiner Ward Councillor. ... Heartfelt congratulations to all returned and new Councillors also. Thanks again to all of you who helped with letterbox drops, corflutes and moral support. 16.01.2022 One of the many aspects that I am excited about should I be elected in Gardiner ward is the opportunity to be actively involved with collaborative work between Councils, Environmental Groups, State Govt. and the community to protect, beautify and preserve the Gardiners Creek and surrounds. In my previous post, I mentioned Katie Allen MP had granted $20,000 for a litter trap at Gardiners Creek. Well, another great step for Gardiners Creek is the $10,000 Grant application submi...tted to South East Water this week by Friends of Gardiners Creek and Stonnington Environmental Champions Group. This is being led by Trevor Phillips (Pres. 10.01.2022 I'm so excited that Katie Allen MP has worked alongside Friends of Gardiners Creek Valley to arrange $20,000 funding for Boroondara City Council to install and maintain a litter trap on the Gardiners Creek in Glen Iris ! The Gardiners Creek and our green spaces are one of my life's passions, and I will be lobbying State Government to install more of these litter traps up and down the creek to help protect this precious part of our environment from plastic bottles and rubbish.... Working with our friends in Stonnington and other councils who share the Gardiners Creek is vital for a collective approach to protecting our environment. This litter trap is one of the greatest things to happen for Gardiners Creek in Glen Iris, and I work hard with Friends of Gardiners Creek Valley community group and others to get more litter traps installed in Gardiners Creek should I be elected ! 09.01.2022 I felt blessed to grow up here as a kid - and I still feel blessed to live here. I’m so grateful my parents chose Glen Iris to move our family to back in 1978. They were both 3rd generation Stonnington which is why we feel a strong connection to both Boroondara and Stonnington. 01.01.2022 In addition to the Federal Govt. tax relief announced on Friday, the State Govt have granted $500,000 per metro Council for permit reductions and waivers, and for investment in infrastructure and equipment to support outdoor dining. City of Boroondara have created an information pack available for all hospitality businesses and have appointed case managers to assist local traders in applying for help. Boroondara have stated that; "Council permit applications are being fast t...racked and all permit fees will be waived until 31 March 2021 to help businesses plan ahead for the Victorian Government’s reopening goal of 26 October". "Suitable locations for alternative outdoor dining spaces in areas like car parking bays and vehicle laneways are also being identified as part of this initiative". Our shopping strips and restaurants are in dire need and must return to their full capacity and re-open as a matter of urgency. I will work with them to do whatever this takes !
