20.01.2022 First day back massaging in the clinic and I had such a fun day. I was wondering if I would remember how to massage after months of maternity leave (aka steep learning coupled with sleep depreciation, but I don't have to explain it to you guys!). Turns out it's like riding a bike - Phew! This morning as I left home emotions were running high and I admit I was a little anxious about leaving her for a few hours. I reminded myself to keep breathing and just put one foot in front... of the other. Although I knew she was in good hands with hubby at home, would she be ok without the reassurance of mama nearby. I'd been mentally preparing for a few weeks. Ensuring I would have enough milk expressed, updating hubby on her sleeping habits etc. We had a little practise run over the Christmas break and I even managed do a quick trip to the shops all by myself - woohoo #mumwin All the prep paid off and perhaps the stars and planets aligned today. Isla & hubby had a great morning. I raced home eager for bubba cuddles and expecting that she might be looking for a boob feed, only to find her fast asleep. I had to wait for to wake. The waiting was pain staking. It felt like she was going to sleep forever. In the end I may have woken her. She was stirring, I swear. And she'd had a decent nap anyways. So here we are; mama with her bub (just woken!) ready to reconnect and snuggle for the afternoon. PS - Shout out to Senior Therapist Meaghan for prepping my treatment room at the clinic and making my first day back easy. It's almost as if I haven't been away.

02.01.2022 -- Virtual Baby Morning Tea -- Thank you to all the beautiful mamas (& husband) and their little ones who joined Meaghan and I for my virtual baby morning tea today!! There was coffee (tea for me!), cake and plenty of connection. And best of all we had loads of laughs AND I gained really helpful insights and strategies for coping with the ups and downs of early motherhood from those that have already been there, done it and got the t-shirt (some more than once!).... A huge thank you to our Games Master Dimity for her entertaining games hosting! And thank you to the zoom participants for being so willing to show up, participate and have some fun. A special thank you to my husband Ryan for enduring my baby-brain this morning without saying a word. He had to do at least 2 trips back to the house for things I forgot (ooopsies!!). We also needed his tech support at the clinic too. Im very lucky that he is a man of many talents! I am just so incredibly lucky to be able to do what I do and to have served and been witness to these amazing women over the past 10 years as they transition and navigate the highs and lows of becoming a mum. Its a very special, unique and hugely challenging period of a womens life and I loved that today everyone shared their experiences in an open, honest and insightful manner. THIS is what women supporting women looks like.
