25.01.2022 It is not always that simple, but a lot of times it is.

25.01.2022 A good example of not taking current science as the last word.
22.01.2022 Vitamin B12 is one of the greatest nutritional concerns if you are consuming a plant-based diet as B12 is generally found only in animal foods, therefore fortif...ied foods and supplementation is necessary. B12 ensures healthy DNA, blood and growth, child development, and helps keep the eyes, brain and nervous system functioning normally. B12 is synthesised in nature by micro-organisms which are consumed by animals. Some animals produce B12 internally due to the intestinal bacteria (not present in humans). We need 2.8 mcg a day. Some studies show that yoghurt (1.5 mcg), turkey (1.5 mcg) and fish (3 mcg) are the highest natural sources. Most other products offer 1 mcg per serve. Fortified cereal or soymilk can provide 3-6 mcgs. What else causes deficiency of B12? - Heavy and frequent alcohol intake - Ageing - Gastrointestinal disorders or past gastrointestinal surgery - Medications for heart disease, reflux and diabetes Deficiency is characterised by megaloblastic anaemia, fatigue, weakness, constipation, loss of appetite, numbness and tingling, and weight loss. It can also raise homocysteine levels, increasing our risk for cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
22.01.2022 Love sourdough bread.

21.01.2022 Just unpacked my new toy, now can get down to some serious distillation of lemon scented tea tree etc while in lockdown.
21.01.2022 I have always had a dream of distilling my own essential oils and hydrosol but have always been busy with my other business of massage, bowen therapy and aromatherapy so now finally after growing lemon scented tea tree for 15 years on our farm and not working at the moment my dream has become real. I have a new facebook page for my second business if interested its called Phyto Organics, watch this space for new products and distilling.

19.01.2022 Certain foods can have a big impact on the structure and health of our brains. Eating a brain-boosting diet can support both short- and long-term brain function..., particularly memory and concentration. The brain requires certain nutrients to stay healthy. Omega-3 fatty acids, for example, help build and repair brain cells, and antioxidants reduce cellular stress and inflammation, which are linked to brain ageing and neuro-degenerative disorders, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. The foods below have been shown to be brain-boosting. On the flip side, sugars, additives and too many saturated fats, may damage brain cell structures and lead to early brain degeneration.
19.01.2022 Vitamin D - the Sunshine Vitamin When sunlight penetrates human skin it triggers a chemical reaction that generates Vitamin D, which is famous for its role in t...he bodys absorption of calcium. Other benefits include: * Boosting the immune system and fighting infections and inflammation * Protecting against some chronic diseases * Protecting against depression and anxiety and other neurotransmitter dysfunction * Potentially assisting in weight loss * Improving gut function Over 5 million Australians have Vitamin D deficiency, the biggest cause being lack of direct sunlight. Other risks for deficiency are ageing (declining skin function) and stress (cortisol competes for the Vitamin D receptor). The main source of Vitamin D is sensible sun exposure, however small amounts can be obtained through some foods. * Please seek professional advice before consuming nutritional supplements.

18.01.2022 I now have a digital thermometer to check temperatures, I can not supply masks to clients as I would roughly go through approx 30 masks per week at a cost of $50 per box of 50 and this would bump up the cost of having a treatment. I am happy for clients to supply there own masks if they feel the need.

16.01.2022 Good Australian company.

15.01.2022 WHAT DO YOUR FEET TELL YOU? The feet tell you a lot about what’s happening above them, at rest and during movement. The posture (position) your feet are ...in is the result of what’s happening upstream. Your foot position is intimately related to how well you control the position of your pelvis and how well your hips are able to function as a result of this. The stability, strength, and control of your hips and pelvic musculature determines whether you can maintain control of every joint beneath them, and therefore maintain the desired position of your joints at rest and during movement. It comes down to having control over your joints, and attaining/maintaining the desired joint positions as you move. The feet can grant your body a huge amount of stability IF they are in a good position. If you can use your hips and pelvic control to get your feet where you want them, then they have a huge amount of intrinsic muscles that can work to your advantage. But the feet need to be in a desirable position (posture) in order to work optimally. All of this can be worked on and changed. The body changes and adapts to what you expose it to. Learning to control your body requires attention and focus at the start, but is essential for overall musculoskeletal/joint health.

12.01.2022 Interesting, highlights the unsafe use of essential oils from multi level marketing companies and some other strange treatments.
12.01.2022 I have seen a few clients recently with plantar fasciitis due to wearing thongs a lot and some with flat feet, this is a good home treatment that may help.
12.01.2022 Having a break for Christmas will be back working from the 7/1/21, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

11.01.2022 Sally Fallon Morell explains that all industrially processed oils cause cancer, especially soybean oil. On the contrary, studies show that saturated fats, as in... coconut oil, butter, lard and tallowthe kind of healthy fats that soybean oil replacedprotect us from cancer. Soybean oil is also the major culprit in the current epidemic of obesity and diabetes. The latest research, published last month, reveals that not only does soybean oil cause metabolic diseases, it also contributes to conditions like anxiety and Alzheimers, and has a pronounced effect on the hypothalamus. 11.01.2022 I have had a few people enquiring about how to make a hand sanitizer this week and I noticed supermarket has none on the shelf so this is a good recipe to try. Olive leaf extract or grain alcohol can be used instead of witch hazel. 60% grain alcohol at 95% proof can be added for a more potent mix.
11.01.2022 Vitamin E - Can it keep you young? Vitamin E benefits every organ and system of the body, but its main job is to protect against cell damage which in turn prote...cts us against killers such as heart disease and cancer. By fighting free-radical damage this wonderful antioxidant helps prevent rapid ageing and chronic disease. As for looking young, consuming vitamin E-rich foods helps against collagen cross linking and lipid peroxidation, which are both linked to ageing of the skin. We need between 10-20mg per day which, for most people, is easily achieved through the diet, particularly fats and oils. Top 10 foods rich in vitamin E - per 100g: Tahini - 213mg Sunflower seeds - 39mg Almonds - 26mg Virgin olive oil - 21mg Hazelnuts - 16mg Eggs - 14mg Wheat germ - 12mg Spinach - 3.2mg Avocado - 2.2mg Mango - 1.3mg
10.01.2022 WHY ARE THE PSOAS MUSCLES CONSTANTLY CONTRACTED DURING PROLONGED PERIODS OF STRESS? Whether you run, bike, dance, practice yoga, or just hang out on your couc...h, your psoas muscles are involved. Thats because your psoas muscles are the primary connectors between your torso and your legs. They affect your posture and help to stabilise your spine. The psoas muscles are made of both slow and fast twitching muscles. Because they are major flexors, weak psoas muscles can cause many of the surrounding muscles to compensate and become overused. That is why a tight or overstretched psoas muscle could be the cause of many or your aches and pains, including low back and pelvic pain. ANATOMY Structurally, your psoas muscles are the deepest muscles in your core. They attach from your 12th thoracic vertebrae to your 5 lumbar vertebrae, through your pelvis and then finally attach to your femurs. In fact, they are the only muscles that connect your spine to your legs. Your psoas muscles allow you to bend your hips and legs towards your chest, for example when you are going up stairs. They also help to move your leg forward when you walk or run. Your psoas muscles are the muscles that flex your trunk forward when bend over to pick up something from the floor. They also stabilize your trunk and spine during movement and sitting. THE PSOAS AND FIGHT OR FLIGHT RESPONSE The psoas muscles support your internal organs and work like hydraulic pumps allowing blood and lymph to be pushed in and out of your cells. Your psoas muscles are vital not only to your structural well-being, but also to your psychological well-being because of their connection to your breath. Heres why: there are two tendons for the diaphragm (called the crura) that extend down and connect to the spine alongside where the psoas muscles attach. One of the ligaments (the medial arcuate) wraps around the top of each psoas. Also, the diaphragm and the psoas muscles are connected through fascia that also connects the other hip muscles. These connections between the psoas muscle and the diaphragm literally connect your ability to walk and breathe, and also how you respond to fear and excitement. Thats because, when you are startled or under stress, your psoas contracts. In other words, your psoas has a direct influence on your fight or flight response! During prolonged periods of stress, your psoas is constantly contracted. The same contraction occurs when you: sit for long periods of time engage in excessive running or walking sleep in the fetal position do a lot of sit-ups Here are some tips for getting your psoas back in balance: Avoid sitting for extended periods Add support to your car seat Try Resistance Flexibility exercises Get a professional massage Release stress and past traumas Stretch HOW TO STRETCH Roller Psoas Stretch Use a foam roller for this passive, relaxing stretch that lengthens your psoas, one of your deep hip flexors. 1. Place the roller perpendicular to your spine and lie with your sacrum (the back of your pelvis) not your spine on the roller. 2. Pull your left knee toward your chest, keeping your right heel on the ground. You should feel a stretch on the front of your right hip. 3. To increase the stretch, reach your right arm over your head and open your left knee slightly out to the left. Hold for 30 seconds, then switch legs. Repeat as needed.

06.01.2022 Interesting read, Pete Evans is now a DoTerra rep, he must be desperate for money or publicity.

05.01.2022 Keep stretching those muscles.
03.01.2022 PSA: Please remember that strong antimicrobial "protection" type essential oil blends arent very friendly on the respiratory system, have to be kept at super l...ow dilutions to be skin safe, and are likely to interact with health conditions and medications. All three of these blends pictured were found on Amazon and contain Cinnamomum verum or Cinnamomum cassia which can interfere with blood clotting, and are known skin sensitizers. They all also contain Clove bud (Syzgtium aromaticum also known as Eugenia caryophyllata), which can also interfere with blood clotting, and is known as a skin sensitizer. What does this mean for the general public? Avoid in cases of pregnancy, babies and toddlers, clotting disorders, the very ill and frail, and before and after major surgery or childbirth. Use with caution for other populations and keep a close eye on signs of distress in healthy adults. For use on the skin these blends are best kept under 0.5% which is about 1 drop in two teaspoons (10 mls) of a lipid base carrier oil like coconut oil or shea butter, or in two teaspoons (10 mls) of a homemade alcohol hand cleaner. Planning on diffusing these in a room for cross-infection control? Remove humans and pets from the room, setup your diffuser on the highest fan setting, put on a timer for 20 minutes. Shut off the unit, open the window to evacuate the air in the room, wipe down all surfaces where droplets may have landed, reintroduce humans and pets to the room. Repeat once a day or as needed. For more tips on safe, effective usage of essential oils and other home remedies join me for a webinar tomorrow at 12pm Central: https://www.facebook.com/events/2259604851001695/. Webinar will be recorded for later viewing.

02.01.2022 Schuessler tissue salts back in stock.
02.01.2022 Bowen Therapy is immensely effective in the prevention, repair, and recovery of sports injuries. The Australian genius behind it was obsessed with two things, s...port, and the physical body. "Tom Bowen & Footy - Born in Brunswick and living in Geelong for much of his working life was he a tiger or a cat fan? In reality who knows, however, I think in the end he just loved footy and especially helping the players that got injured. Probably learning a lot from treating fit young men as he developed his craft. After serving in World War II, Mr. Bowen became interested in new ways of alleviating human suffering. Taking up his father's trade of carpentry and working as a general hand at the Geelong cement works in time he would treat the ailments of his fellow workers. As more people came to learn of his skills he would go on to see clients in the evenings after doing a day at the Cement Works. Before expanding to work full time as a therapist. He had a passion for treating kids and the underprivileged and disabled treating. Opening up his clinic on a Saturday morning at no charge, traveling from near and far, many would go on to have improved health and quality of life. Tom also worked with many of the sports clubs in and around Geelong, often driving all over Geelong and the surrounding district on a Saturday afternoon, attending to injured footballers and other sportspeople. He would then treat them and others on Saturday evenings back at his clinic when further treatment was necessary this was also offered as a free clinic. Older guys who I know from my own playing days who played at the time were sent to him to have injuries seen to, including a carload arriving down from Ballarat on Saturday night on occasion. Go and see Tommy Bowen they would be told, not really knowing what to expect and often bemused at what had happened in the treatment but nevertheless feeling better a few days later. I love hearing their stories. I look forward to being able to do similar in the years to come with our local footballers and netballers. It’s interesting the game has changed a lot in many ways, but the Bowen I use is very much based on what Mr. Bowen was doing back in the 50s and 60s and still very effective." Matt Hart (Matt Hart Bowen Therapy) It's not surprising more high-end athletes are turning to Bowen Therapy as it doesn't just heal the body, it puts it in an optimal state which can actually prevent injury. 02.01.2022 Thoracolumbar fascia - your classic back pain area. A highly stress loaded area as tissue structures from all over your body will make their way here as an anch...oring point. Any of those structures have the ability to place too much stress on this area, with the result of the brain firing off pain signals as a protective mechanism. Your back pain is very seldom a back problem. The whole body needs looking at.
01.01.2022 Masks and aromatherapy There is still so much that is unknown regading covid 19. Things we do know includes: -mask wearing contributes to a reduction in virus ...spread and we know that wearing masks can be uncomfortable when they are worn for long periods of time - most masks will lose effectiveness when damp. Please do not spray your mask with anything. If they are washable masks wash and completely dry before use as per directions - essential oils can damage fabrics which may lead to the failure of masks - over exposure to EOs can lead to sensitisation and skin damage. It would be very difficult to apply EOs to a mask at a low enough dose to mitigate this risk. Suggestions for keeping masks fresh Use mints or herbal lozenges or carry a few washable masks and change throughout the day. You will need to have an airtight container to store used masks until they can be washed. If your mask has an opening between layers you could use fresh or dried herbs like lavender, lemongrass or chamomile in a tissue or sachet for the aroma and emotional support. Keep your lip balms handy, as lips can get dry more quickly whilst wearing masks. Using your essential oils for emotional support for yourself, your family and your clients will be crucial during this time. To read more about essential oil support for COVID-19, check the articles written by the Tisserand Institute and Salvatore Battaglia.
