22.01.2022 Blended Families: When Marrying your partner, you are also making a bond with their children. I officiated a Wedding on Saturday where the Groom wanted to symbolize the importance of unifying the whole family including the children. He read this poem dedicated to his Wife's eldest Son. He had tears in his eyes... we all did... it was beautiful. An adaptation of Genie Gravelines I love you like your mine.... When I first met your Mum, little did I know, That over time, I’d love you too, as years would come and go, I never dreamt my blessings would all be multiplied, That life would just seem more complete, when you were by our sides. I know we’ve had some trials, as families always do, But we’ve shared so much laughter and special moments too. And now there is a closeness, As if by some design, And honestly right from my heart Liam, I love you like your mine. And Liam ran to the front and gave him a huge hug. #allergiesnottears #imnotcryingyouarecrying #weteyes #HappyTears #sosweet #touchinghearts #acceptance #loveyoulikeyourmine #StepDadsMatter #somuchlovetogoaround #marriedwithchildren #marryingthefamily #twofamiliesbecomeone #unity #gippslandwedding #gippslandcelebrant #catherinestylescivilcelebrant #catherinestyles #bride #groom #son #weddingday

19.01.2022 At a rehearsal recently I went through the usual checklist with my couple confirming all the last minute items and plan b details etc. however the bride asked me in my opinion what are the most important things to remember on the day... My personal tips: -Let your celebrant know if you feel overly nervous. They are trained for this! -Breathe... -Pause -Remember you are Marrying your best friend -Delegate! -Eat something and carry a bottle of water -Have emergency contact details for the celebrant, your venue and your Planner/helper -Tears are good embrace them (I always have tissues) -Rain on your wedding day is a blessing. Make the most of it and dance in the rain. -Its just one day. Take it all in. -Take a 5 minute break and go for a short walk with your new partner and be in the moment. Enjoy your Happily Ever After with your new Partner! 15.01.2022 The way the world is at the moment and small weddings not only a preference but mandatory, a lot of brides are looking for cheaper options, DIY or second hand items. Couples are wanting elegance, extravagance and romance without their decor looking cheap. Yesterday I posted a rustic upcycled paint-peeling look door with some beautiful flower displays to accentuate the Ceremony Aisle or as an Archway/Arbour. Todays feature is one I made myself last year. Its ties in the old a...nd the new and has sentimental meaning. These doileys were passed down through many generations and finally on to me. Some of the smaller, dainty, intricate and very delicate pieces were actually handmade with love by family members. I think it it would be great used as a picture backdrop or even as the meeting place at the front of the aisle. It compliments boho chic don’t you think? What do you have that could be used as a DIY? What projects would you like to see me attempt??? 11.01.2022 So how can you start planning your wedding when we are still in isolation? There is so much that you can do now. Here is 10 tips to get you started- 1) VISION -... * Start writing down what you visualise and value as a couple for your day. 2) GUEST LIST - * your numbers have a huge impact on your budget so start putting together everyone you would like to invite * Collect their details in a spreadsheet so you have this for mailing out their invites later * While your thinking invites to some research on styles you like 3) BUDGET SET UP - * Work out your estimated budget 4) VENUE RESEARCH - * Make a shortlist of potential venues * Google the venue, look on social media media at images * I recommend looking in tagged photos of the venue location as well, it gives you a good feel for the venue. * Ask the venue if they are doing virtual tours or if they could set up one for you 5) KEY SUPPLIER PHONE MEETINGS - * Thats me! Give me a buzz and have a chat! Theres lots to talk about. * Make a short list of key suppliers and set up phone or video meetings to see if they are the right fit for you both. * Lock in your key suppliers once you have a venue and a date locked in. * You can also do the same research you did for a venue for key suppliers. 6) STYLE - * Start a PINTEREST board for some style inspiration and make boards on different elements. Or go old school and make a scrap book! * Think about your colour palette - what colour would you like your bridal party to wear etc * Start getting quotes from suppliers for styling elements of things that you like. * Dress - did you know some bridal boutiques are offering virtual appointments? Highly recommend trying on before purchasing. 7) BRIDAL PARTY - * Select you bridal party and have a virtual dinner party and surprise them with the announcement FORMALITIES - * Start thinking about what formalities you would like to include and specific elements that you would like to incorporate that reflect you both as a couple * Vows, Poems, Readings, who will be involved 9) DATE NIGHT - * To break it up and make it a bit fun, order take away from a local restaurant or if your potential (or shortlist) venue is open order from them and then this gives you an opportunity to sample their food while supporting their biz. 10) CREATE A PLAYLIST OF POTENTIAL WEDDING MUSIC * Song to gather guests to their seats * Aisle song * 1-2 songs for signing of the marriage certificates * Walk back down the aisle * Mingle and congratulations music * Entrance to reception song * First dance * Father daughter dance * Another other significant music Hope that was helpful

08.01.2022 Music Monday brings you the ultimate Wedding Processional Music, today featuring Harpist Christine Palethorpe. I wasnt aware, but like any other musician you can hire these talented people to play solo at your Wedding! Just doing a quick search I was so surprised at how many harp players are local and play at weddings. I’ve had a great relaxing morning listening to the whimsical notes and watching the most brilliant performances. I highly recommend starting your week by watc...hing this Medley titled 17 Harp Songs to walk down the Aisle to click here to watch via youtube https://youtu.be/g-r70v3ETk4 #harp #music #harpist #musician #classicalmusic #classical #celticharp #harpe #art #soloist #livemusic #strings #weddingmusic #weddinggoals #momentslikethese #wow #weddingentertainment #weddingband #ceremonymusician #melbourneharpist #harpist #melbourneharpmusic #weddingharp #weddingharpist #musicmondays #harpplayer #weddinginspo #musicinspo #weddingtipsonfleek #relaxingmusic

06.01.2022 Look at this little gift given to me by the sea! Even the Ocean is feeling the love today. This is Tenby Point. A tiny but local seaside town with its own little bay. Its stunning, secluded and perfect for an intimate elopement. Beautiful views, and a cute lovers seat would make for great wedding photographs. Glad I chose a different local nature outing today.

05.01.2022 Yesterday I was asked by a couple for some ideas for Bonbonnieres, also referred to as Wedding favours. For my Wedding I chose not to give my guests something plastic that they would no doubt leave behind or put in the back of a cupboard and forget about. So instead I chose to donate to my favourite charity The Cancer Council. In return they thanked me and gave me a little daffodil pin (daffodils are my favourite flowers so that was a bonus!) and a thank you card for each gu...est. I also did this because it was a destination wedding and my guests had limited baggage space so whatever I gave had to go through customs, no sharp bottle openers, no glass, no consumables, no seeds etc. Oxfam do some amazing gifts. You could donate the money set aside for guests to buy a town a Water well, or buy a family a goat. You could buy a classroom of children some colouring pencils or vaccinations. There are different themes -health, education, wellbeing etc. https://unwrapped.oxfam.org.au/all-gifts If you want to acknowledge your donation to your guests some ideas could include: Mentioning your donation and reasons in your wedding speech. DIY placement cards and write something to say you’ve given your guests a gift that keeps on giving. Or maybe use a small sign on one of your table setups. This is also a great idea for a gift to friends or family getting Married, or those having a zero waste wedding or an eco wedding; Or in general If you have a charity you support or feel passionately about. . . #bonbonniere #donate #cancercouncil #cancercouncilvictoria #oxfam #charity #nonprofit #community #donation #daffodils #zerowaste #ecofriendly #ecowedding #zerowastewedding #saynotoplastic #givetoothers #giftideas #giftthatkeepsongiving #catherinestylescivilcelebrant #catherinestyles #basscoastweddings #melbourneweddings #melbournediywedding #melbournediybride #ibroughtyouagift #goatsofinstagram #goats #goatlife #givingnotreceiving #givingback

05.01.2022 Wedding Kiss Etiquette Keep It PG, don’t get handsy but Do Get Hands-On. In other words, embrace each other. This may sound strange since it's the natural thing to do, however, you'd be surprised at how many couples keep their arms dangling at their sides. I always try to have a chat with your photographer before hand to let them know in advance that I’ll move out of the way during your first kiss so they can capture that magic moment. I also have a quick chat to see if there... are any other magical moments they/you want to capture without me being the third wheel! Wether you go for a sweet quick kiss or a passionate lengthy kiss remember practice makes perfect. Try for a little longer the usual type of kiss that will allow your photographer to get into position! Do not worry if the kiss goes pear shaped, there will be plenty of kissing photo opportunities throughout the day to redo! If you are really adventurous you might want to start practicing the Dip. Take it slow. Make sure there is lots of support. Practice! A slight dip is better then falling over because you went too low! Heres an instructional video https://youtu.be/olAJNIBebCU . . . 03.01.2022 Mehndi is probably my ultimate favourite Wedding tradition, otherwise known as henna. Henna is a paste applied to hands and feet to dye the skin. This ritual is associated with positive spirits and good luck. Indian Wedding tradition calls for a Mehndi ceremony to be held the night before the wedding as a way of wishing the bride good health and prosperity as she makes her journey on to marriage. Some are so intricate and detailed I find them breathtakingly stunning. Ther...e are many different brands, types, colours, darknesses and methods of application. I’ve had henna applied quite a few times for all sorts of celebrations. On one occasion henna was applied all over my big baby belly with my first child. My close friend Vicki who is also a Celebrant is a very talented writer and has recently written a blog post explaining how to embed culture into your wedding ceremony. I highly suggest checking it out! 02.01.2022 Sometimes I get asked to put on the Groom and his entourage’s boutonnieres just prior to the start of the Ceremony as it is often a forgotten extra. Sometimes they can be fiddley especially if I’ve had my usual Manicure! My tip ask for a brooch style clip at the back as well as a sewing pin. What is a boutonniere? Sometimes called a buttonhole or a posy. Less commonly called a Festoon of flowers. They are the little flowers worn on the left lapel of the suit jacket. They a...re traditionally worn by the men in the bridal party: the groom, bestman, groomsmen, father-of-the-bride, father-of-the-groom, and sometimes the page boy/ringbearer. While the colour of the flowers chosen is usually the same as the bridal party bouquets, some consideration may also be given to how it will either complement or contrast the Suits themselves. The stem of the boutonniere is threaded through the buttonhole on the left lapel of the suit jacket and secured with a pin. If the button hole is purely decorative, the stem will need to be pinned to the front of the fabric. Pink Peony Buttonholes are said to be a statement of romance. Rustic Berry Buttonholes are ideal for a country style wedding. White Rose for a Black-Tie Wedding is classic. Suit Pocket Handkerchiefs compliment a stylish buttonhole and can also be given to Male attendants. Alternative Buttonholes can be great for destination weddings where foliage cannot be brought through customs or if members of the bridal party have hayfever or allergies. The use of satin ribbon or pearl beading, faux flowers, buttons, feathers, charms, fabric can be used in place of traditional flowers. If traditional styles are not your thing or maybe you have a themed wedding you could incorporate your own personal style, whether that’s Boho, Gothic or Superhero Lego Enthusiast. I’ve found these pictures below which I’m in love with! Check out Pinterest for more ideas. Pictures by Sarah’s Flowers, Hitched.co.uk and Alternative Weddings.

01.01.2022 Origins of Carrying the Bride Over the Threshold. The tradition of carrying the bride over the threshold is not a new tradition; it dates back centuries and has a few different origins. One of those origins states that the new wife must enter her home for the first time by the main door and to avoid bad luck, she must not trip or fall. To avoid this, the groom would carry her into the house.... Remember Bridal gowns can be heavy so lift correctly.
