18.01.2022 This week a took a little staycation down in the Southern Highlands for a social media cleanse... the Airbnb had no wifi and I put my phone away. I know I have a habit of feeling that I haven't achieved enough, that my home isn't pretty enough, and that there are so many better photographers out there... that I am too small to count. But getting away from it all... but really just myself, helped me to reset that mindset. As photographers, we are always creating something out ...of nothing... making beautiful images out of something that doesn't really exist. We are experts at smoke and mirrors... Give me a camera and some lovely soft light and I can create a beautiful image... I don't need perfection to get started, my gift is to go out and create it. Find your gift and go out and use it. 15.01.2022 I so love working with other creative businesses, especially those with a handcrafted element like this beautiful calligraphy suite by @azalea_calligraphy... there is just something so calming about styling with hand made paper, wax seals and pretty flowers. 14.01.2022 This is why I changed over to shooting medium format film from digital... soft and dreamy images with luminous skin. Film is able to show up the details in white gowns as it loves to be overexposed... it means I don't blow out all of the sparkly details in this couture gown and that is super important to the designer! 13.01.2022 Getting organised and decluttering can be the first step towards gaining clarity and finding the motivation to begin creating... As a creative, I have a habit of keeping everything close to hand so today I had to consciously reset by packing away all of the stuff hanging around my office from previous shoots so that I can have a clear mind to move forward into my next creative project. Taking the time to reset allows me to gain clarity about what my intention is for my next p...roject so that I don't keep doing the same things over and over and expecting different results. Starting with a blank canvas and from the clear direction of my intention, the choices for the details are so much easier to decide and then communicate to the creative team. .
