22.01.2022 Concrete Repair and Corrosion Protection Specialists Impressed Current CP Impressed current cathodic protection (ICCP) has been used successfully on the atmospheric zone of structures in Australia for over 30 years. The first system was installed under the direction of Frank Papworth, SRCPs Chairman, on Bridget Beach Apartments in 1984. Since then ICCP has been used on hundreds of structures in Australia. They remain the most common CP system for atmospherically exposed con...crete. www.srcp.com.au www.pcts.com.au www.pixelpilot.com.au See more

07.01.2022 Corrosion of Steel in Concrete The corrosion process that takes place in concrete is electrochemical in nature, very similar to a battery. Corrosion will result in the flow of electrons between anodic and cathodic sites on the rebar. For corrosion to occur four basic elements are required: Anode site where corrosion occurs and current flows from. Cathode site where no corrosion occurs and current flows to. Electrolyte a medium capable of conducting electric curren...t by ionic current flow (i.e. soil, water or concrete). Metallic Path connection between the anode and cathode, which allows current return and completes the circuit. Reinforcing steel in concrete normally does not corrode because of the formation of a passive oxide film on the surface of the steel due to the initial corrosion reaction. The process of hydration of cement in freshly placed concrete develops a high alkalinity, which in the presence of oxygen stabilizes the film on the surface of embedded steel, ensuring continued protection while the alkalinity is retained. Normally, concrete exhibits a pH above 12 because of the presence of calcium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, and sodium hydroxide - the term pH is a measure of the alkalinity or acidity, ranging from highly alkaline at 14 to highly acidic at zero, with neutrality at 7. Although the precise nature of this passive film is unknown, it isolates the steel from the environment and slows further corrosion as long as the film is intact. However, there are two major situations in which corrosion of reinforcing steel can occur. See more

06.01.2022 Camur II is a distributed data logger system designed for measurements in concrete. It is a scalable system. You will find cost-effective solutions for systems with few sensors installed in a small area or systems with hundreds of sensors spread over several hundred meters. Starting in the measuring point the Camur II node connects your sensor to the Camur II Bus. ... Different kinds of sensors need different kinds of signal conditioning, consequently there are several types of Camur II nodes. For example the Camur II P-node is designed to measure the potential between a reference electrode and the rebar. Camur II LPR-node is designed to perform LPR measurement connected to rebar, reference- and counter electrode. The Camur II Bus connects all your Camur II nodes with a Camur II Controller. The Camur II Bus consists of a power and a CAN-bus cable. Observe that you only need one set of cables to connect all your nodes to the Camur II Controller. The Camur II Bus need only pass the measurement points in the shortest way. The Camur II Controller is the supervisor of the Camur II installation. It is responsible for the configuration of the system. It collects and stores the data from your sensors, sets alarms and logs all important events in the system. Finally you need the user interface. The Camur II Monitor software runs directly on the Camur II Controller or on a remote PC. www.srcp.com.au www.pcts.com.au
