24.01.2022 GALEN College Wangaratta’s VEX Robotics team has been chosen to represent Australia in the Kibo Robot Programming Challenge after beating out 14 other teams including University entrants. The competition set up a hypothetical situation where a meteor crashed into the international Space Station. Teams had to create a program to guide an astrobee robot to the airleak and seal it with a laser beam. Galen VEX was the only Australian team to get the Astrobee robot functioning pro...perly inside the virtual simulator earning them the right to represent Australia in the final stage. The team now have until August 21st to come up with a completed code for the mission. Once completed their code will be sent to JAXA (Japanese Space Agency) and NASA for the final approval of their code. If it meets the approval, Galen VEX will have their code sent up to the to the real International Space Station where their code will take control of the real Astobee robot. Well done to the Galen VEX Team & good luck for the rest of the competition! See more

11.01.2022 ON TOP OF THE WORLD! Students from Galen Catholic College, Wangaratta, have reached new heights in coding. The team of Galen VEX students coded their way into history, by being one of 3 teams that successfully completed the space mission for JAXA’s inaugural Kibo Robotic Programming Challenge: KiboRPC. 300 teams entered the competition from around the world, seven made it to the final, and only 3 successfully completed the final mission in Space: Indonesia (first), Thailand (second) and Australia (third), with Japan, UAE, Taiwan, Singapore not being able to complete the space mission successfully. Huge Congratulations goes out to the secondary students from regional Victoria Galen VEX! Go Aussies!

10.01.2022 Yesterday was a wonderful celebration of the spiritual presence and friendship that Elmore has shared with the OLSH Sisters for 91 years. Approximately 100 peo...ple came together to wish the Sisters well as they move to Melbourne. People travelled from some distance to participate in our celebration. It was wonderful to see some school children attending mass during the holidays. A highlight for them was meeting Sr Mary Batchelor, past student and inspiration behind Mission Day.
