19.01.2022 Bishop James anointed the new altar and ambo with the Oil of Chrism. The Table of the Lord is a table originally brought to Thursday Island by the (French) Fathers of the Sacred Heart. It is beautifully carved from European Oak and is over 200 years old. The Table of the Word has been refashioned from a piece of heirloom furniture from Bishop’s grandmother and shares a similar style to the altar.
