22.01.2022 In between workshops and my freebie live online webinar series I decided to duck over to the Tiwi Islands to see my partner again. It has been a while and in reality far too long! Last night we headed to an outdoor festival with music and dancing. These gorgeous two little ones came over for a hello and a cuddle....and a go at wearing my glasses :-) Feeling very lucky to be living in this neck of the woods of Australia. Tiwi is only a 15 minute flight from Darwin and it is v...ery special to be immersed in a First Nations remote community. If you never ever go you never ever know and it is hands down an experience that would be eye opening, heart warming and valuable for all Aussie's. There are an array of cultural experiences to be had here in the NT - put it on your bucket list! Love Catie K xo
20.01.2022 October is mental health month. We all know that we need more resources than ever before to help with research, services and support. Covid has exponentially increased the number of people struggling. I am committed to doing what I can to help and have signed up for the Black Dog Institute fundraiser - One Foot Forward.... Myself and a group of other like minded and like hearted women are walking each week to help raise funds. My goal is to raise $1000 and our combined goal is to raise $3000. The initiative started today and I would appreciate your support to help me help others through the work that the Black Dog Institute do. Every little bit helps.... 5, 10, 20 dollars adds up. Let's make a difference. I am sure you know someone who has and or is struggling with mental health issues and maybe you too have. 19.01.2022 Let's play a fun game? Almost everybody has negative self talk. Go through the list and see how many relate to you ... 1 The mind reader E.g. Our spouse comes home and doesn't say hello and we assume: He must be upset with me 2 The over-generaliser E.g. When you're late to a meeting, you say "I'm always late" 3 The magnifier E.g. After saying the wrong thing to someone, we say to ourselves: "Great, now they're not going to want to talk to me ever again". 4 The minimiser E.g. After hosting an incredible dinner for the family, we comment to ourselves: "It wasn't that good. My potato bake didn't have all of the ingredients I normally put in it" 5 The emotional reasoner E.g. It started raining and you go: "I don't feel like going for a walk anymore" 6 The black and white thinker E.g. Thinking back on a work meeting with you boss, you think "Uh... I'm so under qualified for what I do" 7 The personaliser For e.g. After your kid makes a mistake in their basketball game, you go "If only I had practiced with my kid yesterday when she asked me to, she wouldn't have made that mistake" 8 The fortune teller For e.g. After a call with a new prospect, you go "There's no way she's going to call me back" 9 The labeller For e.g. After jumping on the scales and losing weight you say to yourself, "I'm a loser" The could, shoulda, woulda For e.g. When looking back on the weekend you go, "I should have eaten healthier" So now many did you get? 1? 5? 10? 16.01.2022 During last Tuesday's webinar, I shared the three S’s of fitness to avoid feeling like we’re in body jail. At the end of the webinar, I got participants to say their three commitments to themselves moving forward. (Because there’s no point just being inspired, it’s about taking action).... The takeaways? So many people learned about the importance of stretching and increasing their strength. A lot of people learned to eat their food more mindfully, to avoid gas and bloating. Even more, people said they were going to be more mindful when eating and making their meal more of an event (rather than just shoveling down their food). All in all? I feel very humbled that I am able to give people support, tools, and connection during this time. And I am looking forward to this Tuesday's session, all about increasing your self care and balancing rest in your life. Who is excited for this one? Our Events + Thoughts = Emotions If you want to feel differently, you have to learn how to think differently. Let that sink in. Our Events + Thoughts = Emotions We live in a world which is highly influenced by the news, social media, friends and family... and it's so easy to let our environment dictate how we feel. But...Are you going to let it? Hence why I've been thinking a lot about how I can provide the most amount of value during this time to help as many women (and men) as I can. 05.01.2022 Do you know the story of Oprah’s childhood? For the first six years of Oprah's life, she was raised by her strict grandmother in poverty. Her childhood was filled with ab*se.... From ages 9-13, she was s*xually abused by her cousin, uncle and a family friend. At 14, Winfrey became pregnant, but sadly the baby was born prematurely and died in a hospital weeks later. So how did she turn her life around? She moved away with her father in Tennesse, where she attended Tennesse State university and got her start in communication. During high school, Winfrey got a part-time job at a local black radio station. At 19, she began co-anchoring the local evening news. Flash forward.. her big break came when she started hosting a show in Chicago, ... and then she expanded to The Oprah Winfrey Show becoming a multi-millionaire. The one thing I've learned from Oprah's story? It doesn't matter where you've come from, you can change your life around.
