24.01.2022 The excitement is building as the final touches of our new Cat Protection Society Adoption Shelter and Vet Clinic are put in place ready for our team to move in late next month. This amazing facility will allow our Society to care for up to 300 cats in need and offer expanded veterinary services to the local community. 19.01.2022 As is the case with any big move, there is still plenty of work to be done but we could not be more excited to be operating from our new Shelter and the opportunity it presents to help care for and re-home even more cats and kittens in need and introduce initiatives to work with our local community. 19.01.2022 Introducing Jerry. 6months old and adopted in 202 and now a Famous Feline for 2021. "Jerry is our gorgeous, mischievous, affectionate little kitten. From the first day we brought Jerry home from the CPSV this little tuxedo wearing boss has added so much joy to our family, particularly since we lost our beautiful dog recently. Jerry's loving nature was exposed as he gently groomed her whilst she was sick! His unique love of hopping in the water- filled bath and snuggling up with us has made him the perfect addition to our family. Please vote for our gorgeous little man, as we know he would be happier than being fed his much-loved wet food!"

19.01.2022 Ending our week with another heart-warming Where are they now adoption update from the beautiful Kiah who was adopted from our Society in April this year. Just thought I'd share an update on our little kitty that we adopted back in April. Kiah as she was known then came to us a very scared little girl. Since April she has blossomed into a funny, inquisitive, loving, zoomy girl that we renamed Kaijah aka Kaijah Puma King. She was very bitey and scared of everyone and every...thing. Now she's less bitey and loves spending time with her human mama, papa and brother. Kaijah loves to play with her cat toys and other items which aren't toys like crystals, pens, coasters and sheets. She loves to 'make' the bed everyday and enjoys doing yoga. She also loves kisses on the head and cuddles every night...although mama and papa love it more. We are so glad we adopted Kaijah. She brings us so much joy everyday An incredible thank you to Kiah’s doting human for sharing and bringing a smile to the CPSV team who looked after Kiah in Shelter.

18.01.2022 Kick starting the week with a lovely update on the handsome Leigh who has (clearly) settled in exceptionally well to his furever home since being adopted last month #leighjustlivinghisbestlife After spending the first few days hiding under the bed, Leigh (who we’ve nicknamed Qua Qua) has become an incredibly playful, active and affectionate companion. His antics include leaping around the house like a commando, rolling on his back, kneading the air whilst getting patted and teaching himself to turn on the lounge room light, which is operated via a foot switch! The fact that he is deaf has not held him back at all. He was previously one of four siblings, so now he is enjoying being the centre of attention An incredible thank you to Leigh’s human for sharing.

18.01.2022 A personal favourite of the CPSV team, we were thrilled to see Charlie Boyle win a place as a Famous Feline for 2021. Charlie was adopted this year and is 8 years old. "Charlie was adopted a week before the 1st lockdown and he has been a constant source of affection, happiness and fun since the moment we laid our eyes on him. Ever since I started sharing his photos and daily routines on social media, people have reached out to me and said, watching Charlie has been a source of calm for them in a world of chaos. I believe that Charlie brings love and calm to everyone around him which makes him an ideal candidate for the CPSV calendar because that is something we all need in these trying times"

18.01.2022 Why hi there. Could I come home with you? Introducing the lovely Lily. Lily is 12+ years old is looking for a quiet home to retire too and spend her senior years relaxing and being doted upon. Once settled, Lily is friendly and has a bit of a cheeky and playful side. She would happily live alongside another feline friendly cat or dog. ... If you can provide Lily with her perfect retirement plan, submit an adoption application at: https://www.catprotection.com.au/adoption-online-applicati/ including Lily’s details (as below) and a member of our team will be in touch. 17.01.2022 The world needs more people like the wonderful Cooper. This beautiful boy with a heart of gold saves up his pocket money to visit our Shelter on a regular basis and make a donation (accompanied with a hand drawn card) to our Society. His most recent donation will now ensure one day with a warm, safe bed, a full belly and a full veterinary assessment to a cat surrendered or abandoned at the Shelter. Cooper, from the team at The Cat Protection Society and our community of cat-lovers; thank you.

17.01.2022 Whilst we often celebrate the happy stories from within our adoption shelter, our private vet clinic also play a very important role in helping to provide care to cats in need from the local community. This little kitty came to us as a private client after having her tail stuck in a crib which resulted in a bad tail pull injury with severely damaged skin. Our wonderful Veterinarian Dr Mangalika looked after the kitty and performed a low tail amputation. 2 weeks post surgery ...and the amputation has healed perfectly and the owner and kitty could not be happier with the outcome; with the kitty showing her thanks with a cuddle with Dr Mangalika. If you would like to learn more about our CPSV private vet clinic and the services available within the feline-dedicated clinic, please visit: https://www.catprotection.com.au/vet-clinic/ or contact the team on 8457.6504

16.01.2022 Penny has also been crowned a Famous Feline for 2021 after being adopted in 2018. Penny is 4 years old: "Penny, Penelope, Po, Lady P, Ponya, Penjamin, don't get me started! Pen has the longest whiskies in the universe, and we think the world must see them! Also, she really enjoys gardening and especially watering plants! But also, she is just the cutest, the softest and the fluffiest thing ever!"

16.01.2022 We continue to be overwhelmed with the level of interest from people wanting to adopt, which as an Animal Shelter that seeks to re-home cats in need into a loving and safe forever home as quickly as possible, is a good problem to have. Based on the level of interest, it may now take up to 4 weeks for a member of our Adoption Team to contact you following your application (especially if you are wanting to adopt a kitten specifically). Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

15.01.2022 Because don’t all our fellow Melburnian’s need a reason to laugh? Check out this compilation of Awkward Glamour Shots with Pets. Have an awkward photo of you and your beloved pet to throw into the mix? It seems only right that you share with our wonderful CPSV social media community and bring some joy to others.

15.01.2022 Adopted in 2015 and 11 years old, the stunning Susan is another of our Famous Felines for 2021 "Susan deserve the title because she has a sassy name and a sassy attitude to match. She is a grumpy grandma who bosses her humans around, and needs a title to match"

14.01.2022 Pommo has started off 2021 exceptionally well having settled into his forever home (after being adopted in mid December) and winning over his cat-pal and big brother Ralph. If you adopted during the crazy year that was 2020, we would love an update on how your feline-family member has settled in. Pics and updates welcome below.

14.01.2022 We have no doubt the marvellous Milo will be a star at our Famous Feline photo-shoot already nailing his poses. Milo was adopted in 2016 and is 4 years old. "Milo is the most loving and lazy cat. He is a big, stunning and beautiful boy who loves to keep himself spotless. Milo becomes entranced when he sees a fluffy blanket and will immediately start pussy footing and purring . His little dog sister Rosie loves getting cleaned by Milo as well. Milo is an amazing tree climber and loves to bask in the sunshine. All of the family love him very much and soon as you see him you will fall in love with him too. Despite his bad past on the streets, Milo has become a truly wonderful cat and that is why he deserves to be on the 2021 cat calendar"

14.01.2022 With an incredible response to our Facebook and Instagram LIVE events focussed on How to support and care for shy and timid cats our team are busy preparing for subsequent LIVE events and Q&A sessions and we would love to know what you would like us to focus on. Is there particular advise, support or information we could provide that would be of value to you and your cat? Would you like to learn a little more about our Society, Adoption Shelter or Vet Clinic? ... We would love to hear your suggestions.

14.01.2022 Introducing our Famous Felines for 2021. Hugo is 9months old and was adopted 2020 "Hugo deserves to be a 'famous feline' as he loves being the centre of attention, being famous outside of just our home would be a dream come true. If you're not paying enough attention to him he'll sit in the most in the way spot possible, if you're lying down a favourite is standing on throats so you can't breath. His favourite morning activity is cleaning all the condensation from the windows with his fur (he's helpful too!) and then waking his humans by snuggling up into our face with his cold wet fur He's lucky we love him!"

13.01.2022 Whilst 2020 has been an incredibly challenging year, we know that for many of our Facebook Community, it was also the year that you choose to provide a forever home to a cat in need by welcoming a new-four legged family member into your home. We would love to learn more about our 2020 Adoptees. How have they settled in? Have they helped to provide comfort and entertainment during an otherwise tough time? What do you love most about your newest family member? ... We look forward to receiving your photos and updates.

12.01.2022 Introducing the beautiful Lily. (You may like to grab your tissues) 4 year old Lily is a stunning lady who needs a very particular home. Lily came to us after her owner passed away; it had only ever been the 2 of them and Lily was incredibly devoted to her special human. Lily doesnt understand why she is not curled up at home and is really struggling within the shelter environment. She is an affectionate lady once she is settled and has the time to get to know you. Lilys ...home needs to be very quiet, preferably with only one person and no children or other pets. Lily is a conditional adoption into a home that will ensure she is indoors only as she has a heart murmur, also being white is more susceptible to skin cancers. If you live in a quiet home and have the time, patience and love to provide Lily, our team would love to hear from you. To express your interest, please submit an Adoption Application Form and include Lilys details at: https://www.catprotection.com.au/adoption-online-applicati/ Lily M/C:900032002990203 CPSV Source No: BR100404

11.01.2022 First in and first out. Introducing Cinnamon and Honey; our first official adoptees from our new Adoption Shelter. Wishing this beautiful bonded pair a life filled with love, health and happiness in their forever home.

11.01.2022 Our first CPSV Choice Winner of our Famous Felines competition for 2021 was the stunning Logan. Logan was surrendered to The Cat Protection Society with another 7 Cats who had been neglected at a home Cat Rescue Organisation. Logan had to have multiple surgeries before he was available for adoption and was confirmed to be FIV positive. Logan spent almost 7months at the Shelter before being adopted by a Vet Nurse and her partner Scott and Logan has just flourished. We were thrilled to see this beautiful boy entered into our competition. "Logan is proud to be a CPSV cat! They took him from a not so great life and allowed him to be living his best, spoilt life. He is a friendly boy to all he meets and is the best foster brother to all CPSV cats & kittens that come share his house. Proudly a FIV+ boy, as they need love and homes too"

11.01.2022 Famous Felines of The Cat Protection Society of Victoria 2021 Introducing Remington- 3 years old and adopted 2020. "Remington was found abandoned and with Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) which makes this gentleman more susceptible to illnesses and diseases, and confined to a life indoors for the best possible chance of a healthy and happy life. Remington found his furever home in mid August and had found complete trust with his owner within the same day of arriving. Often their days are spent together at home cuddling, watching TV shows together and watching the world go by whilst in lockdown"

11.01.2022 Famous Felines of The Cat Protection Society of Victoria 2021 Introducing Minny. 6 years old. Adopted 2015 "Minny deserves to be the Famous Feline as she is a loving, carefree laid back girl that is a kitten at heart. She will never say no to affection, as she enjoys snuggling up to anyone and everyone on a cold winters night and sun baking all day!"

11.01.2022 Will you join our Furever Home family and help cats like Lloyd find their furever home? Each year we care for and rehome more than 1,200 forgotten felines, just like Lloyd, who found himself in our care at only a few hours old. Being so incredibly young, the odds were stacked against him. Our team urgently called on one of our skilled foster carers who could provide around-the-clock care for tiny Lloyd, feeding him and caring for him as his mother would have. But at just fi...ve weeks old he was found to have some issues with his heart that could require ongoing medical care. Our team knew that Lloyd was going to need an incredibly special home. And it didn’t take long to find one. Lloyd’s foster carer had fallen in love and couldn’t possibly part with him. The bond they shared was simply too great. Today, thanks to the support of people like you, Lloyd is a much-loved family member (and proud owner of a tremendous tail!). The work we do to care for and protect our feline friends is so incredibly important, but it comes at a cost. Can you help? Joining our Furever Home family and committing to a monthly donation will ensure that more kittens and cats, just like Lloyd, will find their furever home. To learn more or to join the family, visit bit.ly/FureverHome

11.01.2022 At this stage, our plan is to re-open our Adoption Shelter from this coming Thursday 7th of January with public walk-in adoptions available Monday-Friday between 10am-4pm and adoptions by appointment (only) of a weekend. If you would like to apply for a weekend adoption appointment, please complete our adoption application form at: https://www.catprotection.com.au/adoption-online-applicati/ If you would like to make an appointment with our feline dedicated veterinary clinic, please contact 8457.6504.

10.01.2022 Thank you for your support 2020 has been a year like no other; a year when the Covid health pandemic hit and had a major impact in Victoria in particular. At the beginning of Covid, our Society made the decision to temporarily close our Adoption Shelter and Veterinary Clinic and the cats seeking refuge at our Shelter were placed into the care of our amazing Foster Care Network. However, with so many Victorians spending more time at home than ever and seeking the companionsh...ip of a pet, we were inundated with enquiries from people wanting to adopt a cat or kitten in need. With the aim that we could continue to care for and re-home cats in need whilst keeping our team and the local community safe, we introduced adoptions by online application and appointment and the response was nothing short of amazing. Since being introduced in April, we have received over 2800 applications and for the first time in our 70+ year history, we have faced a supply and demand challenge with not enough cats available to cater for the demand from the public which has continued even whilst restrictions around COVID have eased. This increase in demand has meant that cats and kittens are spending less time at our Shelter before being adopted and older cats / cats with behavioural concerns who may have previously being overlooked are also being adopted relatively quickly which is a fantastic outcome. Despite the craziness bought on by Covid, our Society has still been able to proudly re-home 850+ cats and kittens in need this year and has looked after over 450+ cats in our private, feline dedicated vet clinic. Our Foster Care program continues to play an essential role in the number of cats we can care for and rehome, with an incredible 300+ cats and kittens having spent time in Foster Care this year. And as 2020 drew to a close, we were thrilled to (finally) open the doors to Victoria’s largest dedicated shelter for cats which will have an incredible impact on the number of cats we can provide refuge too and re-home moving forward. During a year that has presented us all with so many challenges, we could not be more grateful for your continued support. We are so incredibly grateful for your generosity and support because quite simply, we couldn’t have achieved what we have in 2020 without you. From all of the team at The Cat Protection Society: thank you. We think you are just wonderful! We wish you and your furry feline family members all the very best for a 2021 filled with good health and happiness.

09.01.2022 A reminder to join us on Instagram at 7.30pm where we will chat with our Animal Behaviour Consultant; Natayla Dundovich of @AAMR. Feel free to post your questions below and join us at 7.30pm tonight.

09.01.2022 Famous Felines of The Cat Protection Society of Victoria 2021 Introducing the adorable Max. 8months old. Adopted 2020. Max (first known as Ryobi when we picked him up) is an 8 month old kitten who has quickly become the boss of our house. His favourite game is playing fetch with his little ball (he even brings the ball back to you). He has a sweet, loving & caring nature. But is also very cheeky & playful. If he isnt sleeping or playing he is hanging out with his humans helping them cook or joining in their conversation, whatever they are doing at the time He is there. He is one sociable cat and we wouldnt have him any other way!

07.01.2022 Are you looking for a friendly, loving boy who can be your one and only? Who is independent but will relish in attention and affection if offered on his terms? Jupiter could well be the cat for you. ... Jupiter is 3 years old and is at his happiest surrounded by people but does not like other cats. He is a big strong boy and would not be suitable in a home with young children or seniors as he could easily, but unintentionally bowl you over. Because Jupiter does not like other cats, he would be best in a home with access to a cat run or kept indoors only. If you would like to find out more about Jupiter or express your interest in adopting Jupiter, please complete an Adoption Application form at: https://www.catprotection.com.au/adoption-online-applicati/ and a member of our team will be in touch. 07.01.2022 Our Famous Felines of The Cat Protection Society is due to drop early next week and we can’t wait to share the amazing images we were able to capture of all of our amazing cats. Our calendars will be available to to purchase online or via our retail store with all proceeds from the calendar sales directly helping our Society care for and re-home cats in need. Pictured is the handsome Remington (Mr May, 2021) embracing the opportunity for cuddles pre-shoot.

06.01.2022 Introducing our wonderful Shelter Manager, Lisa Agius. Lisa has been the Shelter Manager at our Society for over 3 years and joined with her an incredible 15 years experience as a Vet Nurse. Lisa grew up always wanting to work with animals, with her mum helping to in-grain her rescue genes by frequently bringing home tiny kittens for the family to look after. Lisa loves having the opportunity to work closely with cats on a daily basis; to learn their personalities, their likes and dislikes and for many, helping them learn to trust again which Lisa and her team can then use to help find them the perfect forever home. Lisa has a particular soft-spot for Senior Cats and a job-highlight is helping these older cats find a quiet home to retire too.

06.01.2022 We are thrilled to share that our Adoption Shelter will re-open to the public for walk in adoptions from Thursday 7th of January, 2021 with adoptions by appointment to remain in place of a Saturday only. If you have already submitted an adoption application and we have a suitable cat or kitten available, you will be invited in for an appointment prior to our public opening. We can’t wait to welcome our wonderful community to our amazing new facility and help to re-home ev...en more cats and kittens in need in the year ahead. (Please note, we anticipate being very busy during January and opportunities for cat cuddling visits will be limited as we prioritise visitors who are wanting to adopt. We will provide further information on cat-cuddling in the coming weeks)

06.01.2022 Another little surprise (and incredibly adorable) delivery for our wonderful, hard-working Cat Protection Society Vet Team. These beautiful gestures really do bring such joy to our team who are continuing to offer veterinary services and are caring for cats in need during this challenging time. If you would like to make a booking with our Clinic, you can do so by contacting 8457.6504. Travel restrictions do not apply if you are seeking veterinary care for your cat.

05.01.2022 A lovely Where are they now adoption update from Ella and Princess; rescue babies adopted from our Society in 2008. Ella and Princess are sisters who were adopted from The Cat Protection in June 2008. They are best friends. They copy each other's cheeky behaviours and even though they do not love cuddles from their humans or sit on their humans laps, we spoil them so much. They also have other best friend's. Lillie the Labrador and Hazel the bunny An incredible thank you to Ella, Princess, Lillie and Hazels doting parents for sharing and bringing a smile to the CPSV Team this morning.

05.01.2022 Introducing the cheeky 3 year old Edwin; a friendly, playful and very curious boy who sometimes has trouble controlling his urges. Edwin gets very involved in the moment when he is focused on something or what he is doing and often forgets his manners resulting in rough play. He is a busy boy full of enthusiasm and a real sticky beak which can get him in a bit of strife. He would not be suitable in a home with young children or seniors dues to his rough playing. He wants t...o be friends with other cats but he maybe too much for most. An experienced home preferably with a secure cat run would be idea for Edwin. If you think you could provide Edwin with his purrfect furever home, we would love to hear from you. Pop in an Adoption Application form at: https://www.catprotection.com.au/cats/edwin/ And a member of our team will be in touch. Edwin M/C: 956000010570425 CPSV Source No: BR100404

05.01.2022 Misket was also crowned a Famous Feline for 2021. This beautiful girl is 3 years old and was adopted in 2017. "It`s been three years since we adopted our lovely Misket in Australia far away from home, she became a full member our family. Misket is a mystical animal, my soul friend. We understand each other`s mood at a glance. She fills our home with sweet purr at our side, childish playfulness and warmth of presence. We love her very much"

05.01.2022 A very big thank you to everyone who joined our Instagram LIVE event on How to best support shy and timid cats co-hosted by the wonderful Natalya Dundovich from AAMBR Australian Animal Medical and Behavioural Rehabilitation. Natalya and her team have worked alongside our Society for over 4 years, providing advise and support with cats who arrive at our Shelter with increased behavioural needs. This support helps to ensure that we can understand and best-care for these cats... and ultimately, help prepare them for adoption into their forever home. If you have considered engaging an Animal Behavioural Professional to help with a behavioural challenge you may have with your pet (whether they be cat or dog), we could not recommend Natalya and the AAMBR team highly enough. We look forward to hosting more events with Natalya and the CPSV Team in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.

05.01.2022 A glimpse into the life of our Foster Babies We introduced you to Cagney and Lacey last fortnight who were in Foster Care under the watchful eye of Honey the Golden Retriever. Cagney and Lacey are growing beautifully; they are now eating kitten dry food and still having their milk which they are finding really hard to give up. The love cuddling up to their favourite toy (as pictured) which was kindly donated to our Shelter for Foster Care. They are playing like crazy and hav...e now learnt to get up and down off the couch all by themselves. They like to have their afternoon naps in their crate (which is their safe-space) and curl up for bed at 9.30pm with Honey overnight. Whilst Cagney and Lacey already have a family waiting to adopt them, we do expect to have many more kittens coming into our care in the month ahead. If you would like to express your interest in adopting a kitten, please complete an adoption application on our website and our team will be in touch as we have kittens available. https://www.catprotection.com.au/adoption-online-applicati/

04.01.2022 After over 70 years helping cats in need, we are thrilled to share that come tomorrow (Saturday 14th November), The Cat Protection Society of Victoria will open the doors to Victoria’s largest dedicated shelter for cats. Our Greensborough based facility (located right next door to our temporary facility) includes an adoption centre that can home up to 300 cats, a private feline dedicated vet clinic, an expansive retail store, an education centre and a cafe (opening in 2021). ... This new Facility will allow our Society to help even more cats in need whilst providing the opportunity to engage with the local community and help introduce more initiatives to encourage responsible pet ownership. 03.01.2022 The look of complete and absolute love; We recently received the most beautiful Where are they now update on Jackson who was adopted from our Society 3+ years ago. Jackson has been an awesome addition in our family. At first, our dog, Ricky, was WAY too much for him and had a lot of energy and excited while Jackson would hide away. Over time, as you can see, they really have grown to be best buds! It took a good six months, but now I think they would be at a loss without... each other. Jackson is probably about 8 years old now and it's been so lovely to see him grow and become more comfortable with us. He sleeps on somebody's chest every night and at 6am every single day very gently pokes us in the face to wake us up for attention. I have never met a cat who loves attention quite as much as Jackson. He will preference love and cuddles over food and it is so very lovely. My favourite photo of us together is the one I sent of him looking at me with the adoration I feel for him! I'm so happy we brought him home. When I described the cat that we'd like, he was the first one that we were shown and I was totally smitten. It was always my intention to bring him with me wherever I go but I have since moved out of home and we realised we really couldn't separate him from Ricky and so I visit him periodically (unfortunately right now I miss him dearly because obviously I can't visit). My family were smitten by him also, he is the best decision I have ever made

Rummy is 4 years old and was adopted in 2018: "Since being voted the Most Famous Feline for the 2020 CPSV Calendar, Rummy has had a more than adventurous time. He wa...s maliciously removed from our showroom on March 10 and found after a monumental search of precisely 100 days. On his return, he was assessed by his vet Carole Webb, as being in magnificent condition. He immediately took up his previous role as The Peoples Cat, enchanting all ages with his extraordinarily friendly persona. Rummy is a cat with unique panache and temperament. Apart from people, his favourite pastimes are his Bits and playing soccer with his ball. This very popular feline even has his own Rummy Visitor Book!" See more

02.01.2022 Introducing Gingie, Munchkin, Jeffrey and Gadget. Whilst this feline-family may appear tough, the reality couldnt be further from the truth. Gingie (2 year old male), Munchkin (2 year old male), Jeffrey (2year old male) and Gadget (1 year old female) are the first 4 of 11 cats who were recently surrendered to our Society from the one-home, all of whom are incredibly shy and timid. Each of these cats are now looking for a family to take them under their wing and show them ...what love, security and trust is. This home needs to be quiet and calm with an owner who has plenty of patience and attention and affection to offer. With time, we have no doubt Gingie, Munchkin, Jeffrey and Gadget will all flourish and become wonderful companions. Gingie, Munchkin, Jeffrey and Gadget are all available for individual adoption. If you would like to find out more, please complete an Adoption Application and a member of our Adoptions Team will be in touch. https://www.catprotection.com.au/adoption-online-applicati/ Gingie: 2 years old. 02.01.2022 Our 2nd CPSV Choice Winners were the adorable Rosie and DonDon. Foster care success stories and testament to the benefits of adopting bonded cats. Rosie and DonDon were adopted in 2019 and are 1 year old. ... "Rosie & DonDon are siblings and were initially fostered at 10 weeks, we adopted them soon after. Rosie is such an inquisitive and clever cat and so affectionate. She can jump to the highest of heights in the house and is obsessed with opening cupboard doors! DonDon's main goal each day is to coax me outside to rub his belly, that's his happy place. He also loves to help me with jigsaw puzzles by sitting right in the middle of them! I reckon our lives would be pretty boring without Rosie & DonDon in it, we love them so much"
