16.01.2022 'On Dec. 4, the New York Times exposed Pornhub, the world’s most popular pornography website, as infested with illegal child sexual abuse. Visa and Mastercard confirmed that finding in a resulting investigation and immediately ceased processing payments for the porn giant. Mindgeek, Pornhub’s parent company, responded by quickly removing 10 million videos from the site, almost 80% of its content, because it had not reliably verified the age or consent of those in the videos and could not ensure they were not children or rape victims. 08.01.2022 'This week my colleagues and I have arrested 14 sexbuyers in only two days. The buyers were all men that had chosen to exploit women from Romania, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, and Hungary. When these perpetrators have been arrested by the police their reactions vary greatly. Some of them start to cry, others appear completely indifferent, while others become angry and act out in aggression towards us. However, they also have things in common, and in one aspect they are all scari...ly alike. None of them ever show any interest in wanting to know more about the women’s situation and why it is that they have ended up in a cheap hotel room in Sweden with men lining up to buy their bodies. Instead, the conversation almost always centers around how unfortunate it is for the man. Will you be telling my family? Will the newspapers write about me? Will it appear in my criminal record? Will this end up going to court? Me, myself, and I. I think the buyers’ reaction clearly sums up what the act of buying sex is all about. Simply put, it is purely about their ego. The only thing that matters to them is satisfying their own needs and fulfilling their fantasies. The new bill will decriminalise those in prostitution, expand access to social services, expunge criminal records and bolster anti-trafficking laws while holding pimps and sex buyers accountable for the harm they cause.
