24.01.2022 Dear CSPS families, Wellness Wednesday this week is brought to you by our new CSPS Spoonville Village community, which has just started to grow by the sign near the Junior playground. Get involved by creating a Wooden Spoon person (or pet! ), or decorate a stick or rock, and then plant it in the garden when you're out for your daily exercise. Please choose sustainable materials (ideally no plastic), and please remember secure them tightly to prevent littering - with than...ks from the Green Machine and our community There are lots more details on the Flexischools message that came out yesterday. Thanks again of course to Lauren, our CSPS Wellness Wednesday champ, for leading these wellbeing activities. We can't wait to see your Spoonvillians (feel free to share them in the comments below), and will share more photos of the village soon. Take care and have fun, Your CSPS PA See more

24.01.2022 Hi CSPS Families, Well, can you believe term 2 is almost over? Wow, what a year, this has been to date. ... There are many issues, keeping us feeling quite exhausted at times. This Friday, (26/6) is officially the last day of term. **NO UNIFORM WILL BE REQUIRED** Instead, we are asking all students to come to school in - **FREE DRESS.** This is completely free for all students from Prep to year 6. This will coincide with Harmony Day. What better way to celebrate our beautiful multicultural school. We hope all CSPS students & their families, enjoy their term break.

24.01.2022 Stage 4 lockdown, weekend boredom buster #4. The wind's blowing, and I hear rain is on the way, so this afternoon we'll be finding some funny poems and reading them out to one another in our craziest voices in front of the fire. We might even write a cheeky limerick or two! Spike Milligan, Ogden Nash, Roald Dahl, Lewis Carroll, A. A. Milne, Edward Lear, there are so many classic authors to choose from, and lots of modern ones too.... Here's a family favourite to start you off - what's yours? 'When Daddy fell into the pond" - by Alfred Noyes Everyone grumbled. The sky was grey. We had nothing to do and nothing to say. We were nearing the end of a dismal day, And there seemed to be nothing beyond, THEN Daddy fell into the pond! And everyone's face grew merry and bright, And Timothy danced for sheer delight. "Give me the camera, quick, oh quick! He's crawling out of the duckweed!" Click! Then the gardener suddenly slapped his knee, And doubled up, shaking silently, And the ducks all quacked as if they were daft, And it sounded as if the old drake laughed. Oh, there wasn't a thing that didn't respond WHEN Daddy Fell into the pond!

24.01.2022 Stage 4 lockdown, Weekend Boredom Buster no.2 - what's your fave kids' podcast? Here's our hot recommendation - share yours in the comments below :-) Without a doubt, our household fave is ABC's Short and Curly podcast. ABC describes it as "a fast-paced fun-filled ethics podcast for kids and their parents, with questions and ideas to really get you thinking. It asks curly questions about animals, technology, school, pop culture and the future."... There are also opportunities to pause the podcast and chat with your kids about what they think about the topic that week - it's resulted in some hilarious and some surprisingly thoughtful chats over the weeks here! Hope you're enjoying the glorious sunshine this weekend! We're going to line up your recommendations so we're ready for the next rainy day, Your CSPS PA https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/shortandcurly/

21.01.2022 #isoinspo Dear CSPS families, Stage 4 lockdown? Come on, then - let's do this! ... We'd like to welcome you to our weekend boredom buster. This Sunday, why don't you check out the incredible Cirque du Soleil's free videos on their official YouTube channel? And then maybe shake the sillies and the fidgets out by trying out some skills (yeah, p'raps not the trapeze ). The juggling one was a hit in our house - the kids have been practicing like mad for hours already this weekend! Bonus tip - don't have juggling balls? You can make quick juggling beanbags/hacky sacks by using old scraps of material and stuffing them with rice/popping corn/dried beans. There are loads of free tutorials for this online, and we recommend the ones shaped like a pyramid. Have a great Sunday! Your CSPS PA https://www.youtube.com/c/CirqueduSoleil

19.01.2022 Hi CSPS Families, It’s hard to imagine wanting to name your new born children after this current pandemic. Yet, in America, that’s just what one couple have done. Yep, welcome Carona & Covid. Let’s hope they aren’t as wild, as the next few months look set to be. That said, people are still having babies during this difficult time, made only more challenging, as tighter restrictions are enforced & the joys of sharing, holding & being present, before & after birth are taken a...way. This can be overwhelming & even more isolating for expecting mums to be. Tanya Strusberg is a current CSPS mum & director of Birthwell, Birthright. Tanya is a qualified birth doula & certified childbirth educator. Women in all stages of pregnancy can benefit from her specialty knowledge & training to assist in the preparation for birth. A fantastic support in lieu of absent classes & changing times. Tanya will provide you with up to date information, care & support including the impacts of Covid 19 in pregnancy, birth & baby, as well as evidence based childbirth education. Please share this post with anyone you know, that may be about to embark on the joyous journey to parenting & support another incredible CSPS community member.

All funds raised to date (for the colour explosion) will be accurately recorded and go towards our overall total. Thank you for your ongoing support. It is good to see our school take appropriate measures at this time. We wish you all good health, during these uncertain times. Thank you so much for your understanding. Colour Explosion organising team, Junior school council and Parents' Association.
