19.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day to all our clients from us here at the practice and from your furry babies <3

17.01.2022 Hope to get some feedback about grooming - not where to groom (dont need names) but costs of grooms - what clips do you get done and the time it usually takes - do you drop off and leave. Also what you best like about the place you get your cavalier groomed at..? This will help us heaps for new cav owners.

09.01.2022 Parvo info Jan by request: From the AVA: New strain of canine parvovirus discovered in Australia A new form of the common and highly contagious canine parvovirus (CPV), known as CPV-2c, is spreading around the world, however, according to the research, over the past two years confirmed cases of CPV-2c have occurred in South Australia and Victoria, with suspected cases also occurring in Queensland and Northern Territory. While more work needs to be done to understand the new ...strain, veterinarians need to be aware that CPV-2c is now in Australia and the research found that in most cases, in-clinic diagnostic tests have shown negative results in infected animals. Also, most of the cases reported have occurred in dogs already vaccinated against parvovirus, although the clinical signs are typically milder than in unvaccinated dogs. Until more is known, its important that dog owners continue to vaccinate for CPV, and take their dogs to the vet if they are unwell. Signs of CPV infection include some or all of the following: decreased appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhoea. CPV has a high mortality rate. From the Vaccine Drug company: We would like to reassure you that based on our current understanding of the virus, overseas experience and published data, the presence of CPV-2c in Australia should have no significant impact on your patients. This assessment is based on the following: The clinical signs of CPV-2c infection are indistinguishable from disease caused by other types, and may range from subclinical infections through to severe and potentially fatal haemorrhagic gastroenteritis. Treatment is the same regardless of type. Current vaccines have been shown to be useful against CPV-2c viruses in various published studies. So depends on who you listen to but i would suggest continue to vaccinate your cavaliers and take all care regards coming in contact with other dogs.

08.01.2022 Are your pets scared to death by fireworks? It is common and natural in almost all pets to be highly distressed by such loud noises. Have you ever tried making a hide out room for your canine friends? You could use a cupboard, with thick carpeting on the floor and additional padding added up the walls, put a small litter box in there just in case, as well as some food and a water dish in there also. Try a CD player that plays calming sounds such as rain and forest sounds. The...yll be fast asleep in no time with zero stress. You could also train your dog from a young age. Keep a supply of dog treats all over the house so that when there is a thunderclap or a firework, call the dog with excitement. Your dog will come to you to get a treat. After a while, you wont have to call them. Right after the first loud noise theyll come running for their treat. www.cavaliervetpractice.com
