25.01.2022 Most horses pass from one human to another - some horsemen and women are patient and forgiving, others are rigorous and demanding, others are cruel, others are ...ignorant. Horses have to learn how to, at the minimum, walk, trot, canter, gallop, go on trails and maybe jump, to be treated by the vet, all with sense and good manners. Talented Thoroughbreds must learn how to win races, and if they can't do that, they must learn how to negotiate courses and jump over strange obstacles without touching them, or do complicated dance like movements or control cattle or accommodate severely handicapped children and adults in therapy work. Many horses learn all of these things in the course of a single lifetime. Besides this, they learn to understand and fit into the successive social systems of other horses they meet along the way. A horse's life is rather like twenty years in foster care, or in and out of prison, while at the same time changing schools over and over and discovering that not only do the other students already have their own social groups, but that what you learned at the old school hasn't much application at the new one. We do not require as much of any other species, including humans. That horses frequently excel, that they exceed the expectations of their owners and trainers in such circumstances, is as much a testament to their intelligence and adaptability as to their relationship skills or their natural generosity or their inborn nature. That they sometimes manifest the same symptoms as abandoned orphans - distress, strange behaviors, anger, fear - is less surprising than that they usually don't. No one expects a child, or even a dog to develop its intellectual capacities living in a box 23 hours a day and then doing controlled exercises the remaining one. Mammal minds develop through social interaction and stimulation. A horse that seems "stupid", "slow", "stubborn", etc. might just have not gotten the chance to learn! Take care of your horses and treasure them. Written by Jane Smiley Happy Adventurous trails Lisa

23.01.2022 A good reason to have dental check ups on your horses regularly.... Ill give you one guess where that lower tooth goes when the horse shuts its mouth .....str...aight in to the pallet of the upper jaw! Ouch! Remember...out of sight is out of mind. Please dont ignore your horses mouth until there is a problem or he cant eat. Photo: Stacy Pipkin See more

19.01.2022 Do not pamper them because you think they need it....It is always for us, the owners, the rugging etc. Mine tell me clearly when they do and do not want a rug....Rusty and Monty, as the elders are the most eloquent

10.01.2022 Drink water from the spring where horses drink. The horse will never drink bad water. Lay your bed where the cat sleeps. Eat the fruit that has been touched b...y a worm. Boldly pick the mushroom on which the insects sit. Plant the tree where the mole digs. Build your house where the snake sits to warm itself. Dig your fountain where the birds hide from heat. Go to sleep and wake up at the same time with the birds you will reap all of the days golden grains. Eat more green you will have strong legs and a resistant heart, like the beings of the forest. Swim often and you will feel on earth like the fish in the water. Look at the sky as often as possible and your thoughts will become light and clear. Be quiet a lot, speak little and silence will come in your heart, and your spirit will be calm and full of peace. Saint Seraphim of Sarov Nature is talking to you, are you listening?

06.01.2022 Thank you for constantly reminding me FB that I have not shared anything to my page in a while....I have been occupied with driving the horses around, training them, caring for them and performing the admin, land care, house care that is the reason I need a FB page at all. Not to mention, spending time face to face with friends and loved ones(they are one and the same). Sorry if you feel undervalued FB , but you are lower on my priority list than the above. I hope this post rectified your issue
