24.01.2022 Do you have an ATO debt? Depending on the size of your debt and whether or not you have missed repayments, the ATO may move swiftly to lodge a caveat on your property. A caveat can be placed on a commercial or personal property by anyone who has an interest in the property but is not necessarily an owner. This is the ATO’s method of making sure that you cannot sell your property without repaying the tax that you owe.... Don't hesitate to contact us for more information on how we can help you if you have found yourself in this unfortunate situation.

07.01.2022 We want to let you know that we are thinking of you all during this extremely hard time. We know full well that many of you are doing it tough. There is absolu...tely no doubt that for most of us, of life has suddenly become much tougher. Jobs have been lost and businesses closed. Sadly, the statistics indicate that more jobs will be lost and more businesses forced to shut. Perhaps you have been lucky and retained (or partially retained) your employed position. Maybe you’re managing to keep your small business going- but hanging by a thread. Many of us are juggling home schooling, babies, toddlers, all whilst trying to make money, keep up with housework, stay fit, and mentally sane! There are some of us whose job and income remain secure but perhaps working hours and stress levels have quadrupled. Not to mention those who are struggling with other unexpected issues that could not have come at a worse time e.g. relationship problems, domestic violence, illness. Huge credit to anyone going through a pregnancy in these times. Especially those first time expectant Mum’s. You sure didn’t expect to be pregnant at a time like this! Not to mention new Mum’s missing out on mothers groups, coffee dates and comparing stories of sleepless nights (in person). Regardless of if you are craving alone time or if you are feeling bored, lonely and desperate for company; it is sure that there are no winners in this situation. Uncertainty about the future continues to make it so difficult for us to make calls about our daily lives, businesses, routines, kids etc the list goes on. Now is not a time for big life decisions but instead a time to be kind to yourself and take each day as it comes. Leave the big calls for later and focus on getting through each day. Looking after yourself physically is a great way to boost your mental health however if you have a few too many wines / coffees / easter eggs big deal- that was exactly what you needed. Don’t feel guilty over a bad decision. Instead, let it go, learn a lesson and be grateful for what you do have in this challenging time. As opinions are dividend and emotions heightened, now is a great time to take a step back and take a deep breath. Be kind and patient with each other and try not to take things personally. Put yourself in each other’s shoes before passing judgement or venting frustration. Don’t feel guilty about feeling depressed when you know others are doing it tougher than you. Your problems are yours and you are entitled to feel sad. Now is a time to focus on what you can control, not on what you can’t. Sure, it’s fantastic if you find a focus and dive into that as a way to pass the time and cope; however if you achieve absolutely nothing in a day -then don’t beat yourself up. Remember times are tough! Hang in there, stay safe and stay tuned to our social media for regular updates. The ATO has only just (yesterday afternoon) updated its website to reflect the new Job Keeper legislation. We will have a summary on this information out to you shortly. In the meantime, you can view the ATO information here: https://www.ato.gov.au/general/JobKeeper-Payment/ Subscribe to receive our email updates here: https://freshwatertaxation.com.au/sign-up-for-email-updates/ Book a phone chat with a member of our team here: https://calendly.com/sarahruthclayton Should you have any queries, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us- we are here to support you in this difficult time.
