25.01.2022 BREAKING: LOWER HUNTER WATER RESTRICTIONS TO EASE The NSW Water Minister has confirmed Lower Hunter water restrictions will be rolled back to level 1 on M...onday next week. Melinda Pavey will be at Grahamstown Dam in Port Stephens this afternoon to officially make the announcement. It turns out the Lower Hunter has used 20% less water than expected. Sydney will also have its restrictions eased to level 1 in a fortnight. Minister Pavey says the Lower Hunters total water storage is just above the 60% threshold and the advice is that it should stay there. "Our experts in the Hunter are confident well get a few more per cent in coming weeks. "We also have positive rain indications. "But were confident that even if we dont have rain for another 4 to 5 months that well stay above that 60% threshold." Well bring you more information on this story later this afternoon.

21.01.2022 28 February 2020 Yoshi has reached Australia! Record-breaking turtle's long distance swim continues (37 000 kilometres in 26 months ) ! Yoshi is currently steaming ahead with her incredible record-breaking journey and is a mere 66 kilometres off of the Western Australia coast. This officially puts Yoshi in the Exclusive Economic Zone of Australia - which is a great place to be, as she is now protected under Australian law which places a strong emphasis on sea turtle conservat...ion. This is also the first time Yoshi has officially visited a country outside of Africa - her passport now gets an Australian stamp right next to South Africa, Namibia, and Angola. She has travelled 37 000 kilometres in the 26 months since her release in December 2017. Throughout her journey, Yoshi has averaged and maintained a swimming distance of 48 kilometres per day. https://www.aquarium.co.za//yoshi-has-reached-australia-re

17.01.2022 Lake Mac playgrounds, skate parks, public outdoor fitness equipment and public baths including Belmont Baths are scheduled to reopen from Friday morning (May 15...). It is still very important when using these facilities, to practice social distancing, to limit public gatherings to groups of 10 people, and to wipe down outdoor equipment before and after use, where possible. Those who feel unwell or are presenting flu-like symptoms are urged to stay home so we can continue to stop the spread of COVID-19. As we gradually re-open our facilities in line with advice from NSW Government the safety of our community and staff is paramount. We hope you understand the importance of having measures in place to protect our users. With that in mind at this stage Charlestown Swim Centre will re-open to lap swimmers by appointment only. Anyone wishing to use, or gain access to the facility will need to do so by arranging a booking ahead of their visit. Bookings will be limited to up to 10 people at a time for a one hour period and can be made 9am - 12pm 7 days a week as of tomorrow morning by calling 4921 0782. If you are making a booking, your patience will be greatly appreciated as our team work hard to arrange these bookings for you while handling the expected influx of calls.
