24.01.2022 We are so excited to see the development of Pumpkin's gorgeous Cavoodle puppies. We will be sending an email out to their loving forever families in the next day or so and we know they are all going to be SOOOOOO excited to receive the email. Here's a sneak peak :)

20.01.2022 Today we began our training of an 8 week old Moodle puppy. Step 1 - introducing the puppy to 'treat' (small piece of cooked chicken) and my 'high 5' style "YESSS". Combining the sound of 'YESSS' with giving a treat is the first step in teaching the puppy it will be rewarded when it does a desired behaviour. Today's desired behaviour is learning the pairing of the word "YESSS" and getting a treat. Step 1 is all about teaching the concept of 'reward'. It's about teaching the ...puppy that 'YESSS' is a positive response from it's handler. For now YESSS is paired with a great treat reward but it will gradually become the reward it's self, along with a cuddle and other words of praise. Treat rewards will then be reserved for training 'new' tasks and intermittently for reinforcing existing learning. Today's training is about rewarding the puppy for coming back to the handler, hearing the word 'come' and knowing that 'YESSS' is rewarding. 20.01.2022 I think I was more excited about Marlie's Christmas present than Marlie was but I'm sure the more time she spends with it, she will work out it squeaks. I hope her new owner doesn't mind the noise as Marlie will be joining her new family in early January and her Christmas present will be travelling to Melbourne with her. Merry Christmas Marlie

14.01.2022 Louie did well with his training in a new environment. Our usual training area was in full sun so we moved to another area to enjoy some shade. Sometimes when we change a puppy's training environment they 'forget' everything they've learnt. Louie did well and we know his new family are going to enjoy lots of love, laughs and cuddles when he arrives in Perth in a few days. We will miss you Louie

09.01.2022 This gorgeous girl is learning to 'sit'. We train the behaviour without a cue/prompt word. After the puppy can do the task/behaviour we've trained them to do - we then introduce the word/prompt for the behaviour. In this training session we're rewarding the puppy for a 'sit' on her bottom. We later say the word 'sit' when we know she's about to 'sit' and it doesn't take her long to link the word to the behaviour she's already learnt. She's such a clever puppy :)
