24.01.2022 TODAY IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY.

23.01.2022 This week-end folks. And don't forget their "SALE" , Sat. 15/6/19 - 8am to 4pm and Sun 16/6/19 - 8am to 1pm. Good savings to be had. Grab a catalogue or ask to see our copy :-)

23.01.2022 RUGGING / UNRUGGING 101 Putting rugs on - Throw the rug over the horses back, and straighten. Do up the leg straps (snap hooks facing into horses thigh/buttocks). Do up front strap/s. Do up neck rug straps ( if combo ), then do up belly straps ( if the rug has ). If hood - put hood on, do up neck straps then attach to rug.... Taking rugs off - undo neck rug straps (if combo), undo belly straps (if rug has), undo front straps (if not attached to the rug or does not have a "keeper", do the strap up) then undo leg straps. ALWAYS reconnect leg straps to the rug. If rug has a hood - remove hood first. It is rugging 101 - something many do not know or do, or why it should be done this way. See more

23.01.2022 We will never, ever have a "1 FEED SUITS ALL HORSES" approach here. All horses are individuals and diets must be compiled to suit every individual horse. NOT 1 FEED suits every horse, their needs and requirements. It is very important to understand that. We compile feeds to suit every individual horse, in consultation with their owner. It is EXTREMELY important to introduce/change feeds/increase/decrease, slowly, gradually, over a 14 day period.

23.01.2022 THE GOONIE BIRD FAMILY CAWDOR PARK'S LATTEST RESIDENTS/NEW PETS.

22.01.2022 I will never be able to describe the power of time spent cleaning stalls. During this time I have made some of the biggest decisions in my life. I have silentl...y thought my way, step by step, through some of the biggest disasters of my life. I have ugly cried my way through heartbreak all while cleaning stalls. Ive thrown bags of sawdust in range as I thought about all of the shitty things going on in my life. Each stall has oddly given me a place of comfort as I stood, fork in hand, feeling empty during the times Ive felt so alone. It has taught me to appreciate the serenity of the quiet. Realizing the ones in my life I can count on and the numerous fake people who are only present when convenient for themselves. Ive enjoyed a free gym membership, as Ive sculpted my back and shoulders into he man, just sifting away. Ive stumbled my way, dry heaving, with sunglasses ....cleaning stalls through last nights hangover, because god forbid my best friend be forced to stand in a dirty stall. Today I spend my morning, cleaning stalls and processing my life. Im mentally making life changing decisions, as I write this post, knowing that whatever I decide, it will be the right one, as it was made in a stall. I understand that there are those who think us horse people should get real jobs. And that all we do is spend our days playing around. Im genuinely sorry that you have never been exposed to a lifestyle that teaches you discipline, how to love unconditionally, put something other then yourself first, bust your ass for the things you want and need, kept humble by a 1200 lb animal, the real meaning of hard work, early mornings and late nights spent caring for something other than YOU. Those are things a real job will never give you. Some of you havent cleaned stalls .....and it shows.

22.01.2022 New feed chart ready to go. Note the "spare" feeds places. Our philosophy - not one feed suits all horses. Horses are fed, always have been here, on an individual basis

13.01.2022 Confirmed Hendra virus outbreak in Upper Hunter Valley The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) have advised the EVA that there is a confirmed Hendra viru...s case in a 25 year old unvaccinated mare at a property, near Scone in the Upper Hunter Valley of NSW. The mare was euthanised on Friday after developing neurologic signs and later becoming non-responsive. No other horses on the property are showing any signs of ill health. The people who have been exposed to the now euthanased horse are having their welfare managed by NSW Health. Vaccination of horses is the most effective way to help manage Hendra virus disease.

Please note, you should contact your agistment facility who may have enacted specific rules related to their facility. If you own or operate an agistment centre, you may continue to operate your facility and treat and care for the animals on your agistment and maintain the facility. Vets and other professional services (e.g. farriers) are permitted to attend where required, whilst adhering to social distancing and hygiene requirements. Coaching The NSW Government has stated that people may travel for their work, but that the floating of horses to coaching facilities is considered non-essential travel. Failure to do so may result in TOTAL LOCKDOWN. We are doing our best, yes it is extra work and hard work, to accommodate and be fair to all clients. If everyone works together, we can get through this. Stay safe everyone, look out for each other, be kind to each other <3 See more

06.01.2022 Don't know what we would do without our trusty stablehand. Meet Matty Broome

05.01.2022 ***Attention ALL road users*** Imagine this.... You're driving to work and you're running a bit late so you take a short cut down a side street or country road.... You are going quite fast and you notice a horse and rider up ahead. The road is fairly straight and you can see there are no oncoming vehicles so you only slow down slightly in preperation to pass. As you approach the horse suddenly side steps/jumps into the middle of the road, you're going to fast, you slam on your breaks but it's not enough, you close your eyes and hope for the best, you hear terrible crashing sounds and breaking glass then..... silence. Are you still alive? Did the horse and rider survive? You have a lot more protection than them and you can feel that you're injured. Now you're going to be really late for work, if you even get there. You could lose your driving licence, maybe face jail time for death by dangerous driving. A horse is an animal with it's own instincts and reactions. A horse is a flight animal that WILL run from anything it perceives as a danger/predator. Horses were our mode of transport long before cars were even imaginable. The horse in the above scenario could have spooked for a number of reasons; a pheasant bursting out of the hedge line, suddenly noticing an animal or farm machinery in a field, a farmer or hunter shooting a rifle, a low flying aircraft, even the sound and vibrations from the car approaching too fast. It's not practical to expect all horse riders to stay off the roads and quite frankly that's a very selfish and childish attitude to have, after all they were on the roads long before your car/van/motorcycle/truck was. If you encounter a horse and rider while out driving please be cautious and courteous and pass wide and slow when it's safe to do so. Please also pay attention to the rider and any hand signals they make as they can usually see more than you can. Take a moment while you relax at home to look up a horse riders hand signals and what they are telling/asking other road users to do. Also imagine that it's your child or a family member on the back of that large, strong animal. It could save a life and that life could be yours. ***ADDITION FROM SINNIE KYLIE CURRIE*** You don't want a horse stuck in your windscreen repeatedly kicking you in the face either. Also By QLD GOV law at least - vehicle drivers must stop at the side of the road and turn off their motor if a horse rider signals that their horse is jumpy or agitated. The horse rider can signal to the driver by raising a hand and pointing to the horse. The driver must not move the vehicle until the noise of the motor, or the movement of the vehicle, won’t aggravate the horse....so I'm guessing its still illegal to hit a horse with a car...again in QLD anyway. That is for those who don't care about the animal as they will care about the possible charges, fines and insurance issues.
