19.01.2022 American Public Works Association (APWA) PROJECTS OF THE YEAR 2020 - SUCCESSFUL CHAPTERS NOTIFIED Great News! I just finished notifying all of the project nominations about their results so feel free to tell anyone about who won if so asked by your local chapter.... Thank you all so much for your hard work and navigating the added responsibilities doing this while under a epidemic. I hope things are getting better for you, we here in Kansas City, Missouri are having our stay at home order extended to May 15th. On the Kansas side they are extended until May 3rd. The good news is there have been no staff or families of staff that have been infected so we are all still well and working from home as I hope all of you are well also. Thanks again for your support of the Awards Program. Rhonda Awards and Chapter Relations Associate American Public Works Association Kansas City Office Your Comprehensive Public Works Resource

14.01.2022 Most people will think of Wuhan as a small country town in middle China. Wrong - Check out their fantastic infrastructure.

12.01.2022 Social isolation has had its strains and also its highlights. Now that Australians can leave home for exerciser, I was gifted with a fantastic local guide, into the fabulous history of the Railway over the Blue Mountains into the Lithgow Valley. This is definitely an Engineering Marvel - and amazing feat of human ability. I would welcome your thoughts of my adventures today !!!!

09.01.2022 PWX 2020 NEW ORLEANS CANCELLED Dear APWA Members and Friends, It is with great disappointment that we must announce that PWX 2020 will be canceled. The APWA Board of Directors, after very careful consideration, unanimously decided to cancel PWX 2020, to have been held in New Orleans. The Board of Directors took a number of weeks to consider all options and collect as much data and information as it could. Ultimately, the decision came down to taking into account your health ...and safety and that of the APWA staff. While we believe this is the best conference in the world, no conference is worth putting people at potential health risk. Our intended meeting venue, the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, is closed to the public and is being used as a field hospital for COVID-19 patients. As of today, there have been 26,773 cases of COVID-19 and 1,670 deaths within the state of Louisiana. The largest concentration of cases and COVID-19 related deaths have been in New Orleans. On April 15, the Mayor of New Orleans extended the Stay at Home order until May 16. With all of these uncertainties and health risks we believe it was in everyone’s best interest to cancel PWX this year. We want to extend our gratitude and appreciation for the hard work that the Host Committee and the Louisiana and Mississippi chapters have put into what would have been the best PWX yet. We know it is disappointing to plan for so long and have to cancel our great get together. This is an event that we all look forward to all year long. The amazing keynote speakers, over 150 educational sessions, exciting exhibit hall and the incredible networking and fun will be sorely missed this year. While nothing can replace the PWX experience our staff has already begun planning for a digital online experience for you. So hold the same dates as PWX (August 31-September 2) on your calendar. We will be providing you with more information as it becomes available. We still plan to offer a great educational experience and may be even an online happy hour. We know this is a very unusual time, but we will get through this together. We want you to know that your APWA family is here for you and will continue to provide you with valuable resources and experiences that will help you in advancing your career and to do your jobs. We very much look forward to getting together with you next year in St. Louis. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. Sincerely,

08.01.2022 Many roads to travel, once our freedom is restored. Beautiful photography and some amazing Engineering. Enjoy people

03.01.2022 Well the world is at a crisis point - but the American Public Works Association is still leading our profession through difficult times. It’s always good to acknowledge the achievements of our dedicated men and women that supply our essential needs. Within the next few hours, I will be chairing the committee to nominate the most outstanding authority for Project of the Year. At this time every Authority deserves recognition for their outstanding efforts. Stay safe !!!
