20.01.2022 The 6 Best Ways To Unbusy Yourself Life gets crazy busy sometimes making it is so important to remember to unbusy yourself! It's like I tell my elderly mum who says she really shouldn't have the odd chocolate as it might go to her hips - 'if not now then when?' So when is a good time to unbusy yourself - when you've collapsed in a heap unable to think straight? And why - obvious reasons a healthier & happier you, but everyone else around you also benefits, which in turn c...reates a happier home & happier life ... un-busying yourself is 100% underrated and usually 100% overdue! These days I still work hard but I also make sure I am unbusy doing something entirely for me that feeds my soul and lets me love my life. So what are the best ways to unbusy yourself? 1. Retreat to your private home nook - read a book, have a cuppa, meditate, nibble chocys, journal ... 2. Go to the beach by yourself - take a walk, take a seat, take a book, take the dog, take a nap ... 3. Complete your crafting projects - sewing, sketching, painting, knitting, building, making ... 4. Get physical - swim, walk, sit in nature, jog, yoga outside, ride your bike, Taichi in the park... 5. Catch up with girlfriends - retail therapy, cafe cuppa, lounge at home, facial & pamper ... 6. Take a luxurious bath - just add water, wine, candles, bath bomb ... Whatever you do, make sure it is not your normal daily tasks or job so you get a complete change of mindspace and downtime. 18.01.2022 6 Tips to Buying Decor & Furniture Online We live in an online world where you can purchase just about anything on the internet. Everything from decor to furniture, paintings to artwork, plants and garden items, houses and cars, musical equipment to concert tickets, weekly groceries to take away food delivery and even holidays but the list doesn’t end there Buying online has become a huge time saver making life even easier as we seem to get even busier, however it is also n...ot without risk. What you see advertised is not always what is delivered and refunds can be difficult or non existent with some companies, so how do you combat online shopping risk to receive what you ordered? Here are 6 Tips to buying decor and furniture online. TIP NO 1 Know your home measurements. First know the the size of the space you are placing items in. Allow breathing & walking / movement space around furniture for access. TIP NO 2 Check item measurements online. Make sure items easily fit in your space. Use masking tape to mark out furniture sizes on your floor to see sizes, space around the furniture and it will fill your room. TIP NO 3 Know your suppliers. Are they reputable, have you bought from them before, how good is their product quality & customer service, will the product last, how easy would it be to have something repaired under warranty. TIP NO 4 Read the warranty & return details. Get all the information first and if they are too strict, too vague or won’t answer refund questions, reconsider your purchase with this supplier. TIP NO 5 Ask for samples. Colours, pattern sizes & product finishes are often different in real life to your computer / phone screen. There may always be variations from samples to the finished product and samples are vital if you need an exact colour match. TIP NO 6 Email the store to ask for more details. Delivery dates/times, ask for a discount, for more pictures of the item, can you pick up & save money. While you can never eliminate all the risks when buying decor and furniture online, you can definitely reduce these by spending a little time doing a little research before buying. This time spent can save logistical nightmares, major headaches and frustration not to mention a pocket full of your hard earned money in the long run. Then you can simply enjoy your item when it arrives knowing you will receive what you ordered. Good luck! 17.01.2022 Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere Sunday 21 June. This is the shortest day of the year for us Aussies and time to welcome more daily sunlight, despite moving into our winter months. A simple celebration to welcome longer days and more light energy would be to burn a candle. ... Traditionally you burn a Yule log which is the root of a hardwood tree & in Aus mallee roots are ideal & Tassie Oak, a type of Eucalyptus. You burn it down to a small remaining piece which is then kept to light the following year. Whatever you do it is a simply a lovely way to be thankful and have gratitude throughout the day, plus enjoy a natural eucalyptus smell and good vibe in your home! Like the Beatles sang... Here comes the sun... do do do do... Enjoy! #theessentialdesignbasics #interior #healthylifestyle #spiritualawakening
17.01.2022 Not Enough Storage or Too Much Stuff? Lack of storage gets the blame every time, because let’s face it, who wants to admit that you have too many bits & bobs? You know those items you love and it’s not clutter so there’s no need to de-clutter therefore the answer is that you don’t have enough storage, right?! While this question seems straight forward, it never is and it should lead you to many more questions to help you arrive at the right answer for you. So put on your ...detective hat, grab your notepad (yes, a wine may help) and let’s break it down. Too Much Stuff Exactly what stuff are we talking about? - Décor: Display & decorative items balls, ornaments, candles, - Lamps: Pictures/family photos, clocks, mirrors, - Collections: Shells, cars, crystals (can never have too many) - Clothes: Shoes, handbags, hats, sunglasses, jewellery, watches? - Kitchen utensils: Pots & pans, glasses, plates & platters? - Plants: Flower displays, vases & containers full of other items? - Miscellaneous: Screws, keys, plastic bags, plastic hooks, junk? Not Enough Storage What storage do you actually need? - Is there enough basic storage built into your home? - Are there cupboards in each room & are they large enough? - Do you have additional storage in your furniture in each room? Bookcases, TV cabinets, display cabinets, shelving, desks, etc? - Do you need more shelving, drawers or file cabinets etc? - Do you have dedicated areas for collections or are they everywhere? - Do you need open or closed storage options? - Do you need wall, floor or ceiling space for to store items? - Do you have dedicated storage areas in your garage? - Can you store seasonal items in the roof/attic? Hopefully your detective questioning will narrow down the specific items you have too many of, to then understand what type of storage you require to either store or display your items properly. And don’t forget to leave a little space empty so your items can all be viewed clearly without looking cramped. Try to have a regular purge or declutter to stay on top of accruing too many items, which allows you to make the odd unexpected purchase that sometimes just happen. Then, when all is said and done, everything has a place and everything is in its place. Now, do you have too much stuff or not enough storage?

13.01.2022 When did you last take stock of your gratitude? We are already half way through September, the ninth month of the year with Christmas just around the corner... asking where did this year go? Some get caught comparing what others are doing rather than taking stock and feeling grateful of what you have. ... Finding just one thing to be grateful about each day can change your life on the positive scale enormously, even the routine and repetitive tasks. For instance: seeing your home as a shelter can make you see how grateful a homeless person is with just a simple Swag in a Bag for a home. What other things can you be grateful about with your home?
