18.01.2022 As the Coronavirus outbreak spreads, the worlds biggest companies have begun painting a bleak picture of broken supply chains, disrupted manufacturing, empty stores and flagging demand for their wares. The stock-market plunge this week, the steepest since the financial crisis, suggests that investors are bracing for a lot more bad news. The Tourism industry and Travel sector is no different. While Airlines , hoteliers, Coach companies, Cruise lines and Travel Agencies are do...ing their best to survive this nightmare, some costs are inevitable. Changing and cancelling travel arrangements on a voluntary basis due to advise by the authorities to exercise caution still attract fees imposed by the Airlines, Hotels etc. Travel plans changed or cancelled because a country is declared a no travel zone will be dealt with on an individual basis. With new Coronavirus outbreaks spreading daily, one has to appreciate that there is only so much an operator can do. Keeping in mind that Coronavirus has been declared an epidemic, one should contact their Travel Insurance to check if they are covered for change fees or cancellation charges. For more information on entry requirements to the country you are travelling to please visit: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/destinations See more

15.01.2022 NSW Government must be held accountable for this . This is an email sent to Cruise passengers 5 days after they disembarked in Sydney Dear Ovation of the Seas passenger... Further to my correspondence to you of 20 March 2020 about a person with COVID-19 on board the Ovation of the Seas (cruise which disembarked in Sydney on 18 March 2020), NSW Health is now aware of eight people who were on board who have been diagnosed with COVID-19. As you have been identified as a passenger on the ship, you are considered a close contact. As a close contact, you must remain in self-isolation for 14 days from the day you disembarked (i.e. up to the morning of 01 April 2020). Additionally, because more COVID-19 cases have been identified, you must remain in your current location, and must not onward travel. You must not travel by air or any form of public transport. Do not go to work, school, or public areas where there are other people, and do not use public transportation, taxi services or rideshares. You should stay in a different room to other people as much as possible, and use a separate bathroom if available. You should be alert for any symptoms of COVID-19. These are fever, cough, sore throat, headache, or shortness of breath. If you do develop symptoms seek medical attention, and tell the doctor that you have been a passenger on a cruise ship with COVID-19 on board. If possible, take this letter with you to show your doctor. If you are in Australia, you can call your GP or HealthDirect (1800 022 222) for advice. 15.01.2022 Three travel wholesalers collapse over 3 days. Tempo holidays and Ben Tours - 2 well known Melbourne travel wholesalers have gone into liquidation over the weekend leaving a substantial number of Australian travelers stranded overseas. In the meantime , Thomas Cook, the world's oldest travel firm, has collapsed, stranding hundreds of thousands of holiday-makers around the globe and sparking the largest peacetime repatriation effort in British history.... The company currently has around 600,000 travellers abroad. The firm runs hotels, resorts, airlines and cruises for 19 million people a year in 16 countries. Thomas Cook ceased its Australian operations earlier this year. It currently has 600,000 people abroad, forcing governments and insurance companies to coordinate a huge rescue operation. The UK's Civil Aviation Authority said on Monday Thomas Cook had now ceased trading and it will work with the government to bring the more than 150,000 customers home over the next two weeks. Worth noting... In 2016 Webjet paid Thomas Cook 21 million to enter a supply agreement which saw Webjets European online accommodation business service the wholesale market and take responsibility for the majority of the volume of Thomas Cooks complementary hotel business. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't risk your next holiday. Stick with the travel agent you know.

14.01.2022 During these difficult times some Travel Agents are keeping their doors open only to service clients refunds or secure their money through credits on future bookings. Others simply shut shop as they cannot afford to remain open with no financial return. For those of us that kept our doors open for you, we kindly ask you to appreciate what we are doing on your behalf and please respect the fact that we have to apply for refunds or credits from third parties hence turnaround ti...me may not be as acceptable as we would like. On a second note please do appreciate that any minimal service fee charged to cover expenses is our only means of staying afloat The majority of you are doing the right thing . A very few are not as understanding and think of themselves only. Lets get through this together by helping one another. The good times will return See more

14.01.2022 Lately I watched a couple of programs on one of the trash TV Channels attacking a major travel chain for charging excessive fees and withholding funds. Before I start - I will make one thing clear . I have no particular love for the Travel Chain in question. However there are a couple of things the program did no clarify. While I strongly disagree with overcharging for cancellation fees, there are third party fees which a Travel Agent has no option but to pass on. Some airlin...es, cruise and tour companies are not offering refunds - only credit, and this is being done with the full blessing of the ACCC. If the third party in question does not pass on the money to the Travel Agent, the Travel Agent cannot give you a refund. Another point mentioned was that a Travel Agent pays the airline when a passenger boards a flight. This is totally incorrect. A travel agent pays the airline the minute an airline ticket is issued. From then on the funds are in the hands of the airline. I hope this makes the situation a little clearer and help you understand the truth. See more

13.01.2022 The risk of booking online. Holiday firms Super Break and Late Rooms have gone into administration, despite urging customers to purchase trips and book hotel rooms just three hours beforehand. The move affects 20,000 bookings made through Super Break, according to administrators KPMG, with 400 people already on holiday. Late Rooms had around 23,000 bookings.... The number of individual holidaymakers caught up in the collapse is believed to much higher the Association of British Travel Agents (Abta) believes 53,000 are affected by Super Break alone, with no estimates for Late Rooms.

12.01.2022 LACK OF LEADERSHIP IN NSW GOVT TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. The Australian Border Force (ABF) commissioner has tipped a bucket on the NSW Government over its handlin...g of the arrival of a coronavirus-stricken cruise ship, Ruby Princess in Sydney last week. As the cases of COVID-19 passed 1,000 in NSW today, Premier Gladys Berejiklian said "all of us have to take responsibility" about why the Ruby Princess was allowed to dock. Australian Border Force (ABF) commissioner Michael Outram pointed the finger squarely at the NSW Government, saying its health department had given the green light for passengers to disembark, despite several people onboard being tested for coronavirus. About 2,700 passengers got off at Circular Quay last week and more than 100 have since tested positive for COVID-19.

06.01.2022 Date: Wednesday, 25 March 2020 Ref: 029-2020 EN Air Malta revises its Lifeline Schedule Air Malta revised its Lifeline schedule announced last week due to further travel restrictions imposed by various European states.... This limited schedule was planned following the ban on scheduled commercial flights as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Air Malta will now be operating flights to London Heathrow, Frankfurt and Amsterdam. These airports are proving to be a critical lifeline for cargo, the provision of medical equipment and supplies, and the repatriation of foreign nationals to their country from Malta. These flights will continue in the coming weeks. Scheduled flights to Brussels and Vienna have been discontinued. The situation is changing every day and further changes may be announced. Yet again Air Malta and its staff members are playing a pivotal role to assist the Islands during this difficult time. Further information is available on www.airmalta.com. See more

05.01.2022 USA VISA APPLICATIONS (ESTA) Essential information regarding U.S. ESTA application process The U.S. Customs and Border Protection have issued a mandate that effective immediately, all guests are no longer able to apply and be approved for an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) within 72 hours of travel departure.... New ESTA application process Guests must now apply for their ESTA at least 72 hours in advance of travel. For all guests who have approved ESTAs there will be no change to their check-in. Guests arriving at the airport for travel to the United States without a previously approved ESTA will likely result in being denied boarding. To apply for a new ESTA, please visit the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website. What is an ESTA? Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) is an automated system used to determine the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) and it determines whether such travel poses any law enforcement or security risks. ESTA approval authorises a traveller to board a carrier for travel to the United States under the VWP. We appreciate your assistance in communicating these changes to guests travelling to the United States.
