25.01.2022 Were just getting out of the ground with this new home at Kingsgate Circle, Huntingfield. This new home will feature: - 130m2 living area - 30m2 deck area - 23m2 car port... - 24m2 shed - 3 bedroom - 2.5 bathrooms Weve loved working with the owners to build them a great family home in this newly established subdivision.
24.01.2022 CBC Custom Building team profile! Today were catching up with the one and only Seb Chandler: - So tell us about your background in the building industry Seb?... During my apprenticeship I was fortunate to be exposed to a variety of projects and sites, from industrial situations on mine sites, high rise construction, multiple renovations as well as building a few new homes including my own. - What made you want to be a carpenter? I chose to become a carpenter because I enjoy the practical work! You get to enjoy the weather all year round and learn to create things which leave you with a big sense of job satisfaction. - Whats a bit of advice youve received in your trade that has always stuck with you? The best bit of advice I received as an apprentice was to think about the plaster when your digging the footings! - Whats a fact about you not many people know? 24.01.2022 The start of another (short!) week. Were heading into the third week of our Blackmans Bay unit development. The footings have been dug, poured and the brick bases going in. This week will see civil plumbing, electrical work then its onto framing for the crew.
22.01.2022 Its been a big few weeks at our Home Avenue unit development in Blackmans Bay. Exterior cladding is almost complete and things are well and truly moving along inside with fit outs, tiling and joinery all underway over the next few weeks. It wont be long till all the scaffold is removed and the landscaping and driveways begin to take shape!

21.01.2022 Were back with the CBC profile series today with Director Brad Goodwin. - So Brad, tell us about your background in the construction industry? I started my apprenticeship at age 17 with North West Bay Ships as a cabinet maker. After spending 2 years there I joined a commercial shop fitting company before working for a local joinery shop.... Early on as a tradesman I moved to Western Australia for some different experience before returning back to Hobart and focusing mainly on building unit complexes, new dwellings and renovation work. - Whats the favourite project youve been involved with? My favourite project would have to be the super yacht that was built during my time at North West Bay Ships. It was great to be able to work with some of the worlds best materials and first class tradesman - It was an amazing experience. - What excited you about the future of CBC? Continuing to build our company sustainably within the industry and working along side our great team at CBC (Including sub trades) day in day out excites me for the future. Theres also no better feeling that handing over a build to a happy customer. - And lastly Brad, what keeps you busy outside of work? Plenty of paper work but mostly my Four kids! Generally spending time with my amazing family and trying to recharge for the next day or week ahead. Now my house is finished, I might even try get back and play a few games of cricket! 20.01.2022 Another morning in paradise! Slab successfully poured today for this entertaining area in Blackmans Bay, including 14 cube of special order premium concrete mix from Hazell Bros with 10mm Summers Rock & Arctic Pigment. This concrete has only used once before in Tasmania before as an exposed mix and we cant wait to see it fully polished in a few weeks for our lucky clients!

18.01.2022 What a difference a fortnight can make! On our Snug build the framing is nearly completed with the truss in place ready for the roof to go on early next week. With careful scheduling and reliable builders, getting into a brand new home has never been quicker and easier.

05.01.2022 How big's your deck? This one we're currently building features beautiful 135mm Blackbutt decking boards laid over the new release 135mm Decktec joist protection system. These boards are fixed down with 60mm stain steel Wurth Australia screws. Combined with the steel beams this is going to be one special deck! 04.01.2022 Today were catching up with our newest CBC team member, apprentice Cameron Christie! - Hows the isolation life been treating you Cam? Isolation life has been fine so far, I have been working non stop over a variety of projects with the amazing cbc crew. I have been missing seeing mates and getting out in town on weekends though. ... - What made you want to get into the construction industry? When I was 2 I hit my auntie on the head with a hammer, she lived, and has always said I would do something with hammers! But seriously, I have always loved fixing things and making things, which I had a lot of space to do growing up on a farm. I really enjoy physical work and being able to make things for myself and others. - Whats a bit of advice youve received is far? Best work advice I have received so far is to think about the second step while you are doing the first step, that way things should go smoothly! - Whats a fact about you that not many people know? A fact about me that most people dont know is that I really love drawing plans for houses, and have a big collection of architectural photos. One day I will plan and build my own house. 03.01.2022 CBC Director profile with - Chris Magnussen - Tell us about your background in the construction industry Chris? After working at hardware store I decided I was better suited using the tools rather than selling them! After my carpentry apprenticeship I went straight into business with one of CBC directors Brad. After a couple of years Cahill joined the team and we created CBC Custom Building and weve never looked back.... - Whats the favourite project youve worked on? My favourite project was my first new home built under my license. Theres nothing better than building a new home that you are proud of and know everything is built exactly how you want it with no corners cut. - What makes CBC different to other builders? CBC is different from other builders because we are a company of three directors. Because three perfectionists are better than one! The three of us all have equal ownership, we all have our building licence, and most importantly we are all on the tools. This all allows us to have outstanding quality control across multiple projects. - What can you recommend to people looking to build or renovate their home? Working with people that share your enthusiasm for your project, will be the first step in a successful building process. For most people its there biggest investment and you want the confidence that someone is taking care of your project like its their own. Thanks for the insight Chris!
02.01.2022 Today were catching up with Cahill for the last of our CBC director intro series. - Tell us about your background in the construction industry Cahill? I completed my trade certificate with Zenith Construction doing architectural house and commercial work and Sub contracted with them, once qualified, for 2 years before I moved to WA. While in WA I worked for a School maintenance company for a few months then got a job with a high end carpentry firm doing finish work for some ...of WAs most exclusive builders. I ran a carpentry business for 18 months before moving home to Tas to start CBC with Brad and Chris. - Like everyone you must have a favourite project, whats yours and why? As an apprentice I was lucky enough to work on a project at the Tahune Airwalk building 2 pedestrian suspension bridges. We spent 4 months camping onsite during the week while constructing them. Being involved in every aspect of the 90m single span bridges was something totally different. - What piece of advice have you been given during your career that has stuck with with you? Do it right the first time! Taking extra time to complete anything you do properly is much cheaper than having to do it twice! - And lastly what keeps you busy outside of work? If Im not at work Im spending time with my beautiful partner Haylee & Son Max (or sleeping!).
