25.01.2022 Get those stomachs ready because you’ll soon be able to experience Al Aseel Lebanese Restaurants signature dishes including kibbe, fattoush, hommos, shawarma and knafeh at Bankstown Sports, with a new store opening at the complex this December. To mark the start of construction, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held on location at Al Aseel restaurant at Bankstown Sports Club, with Chairman of Bankstown Sports John Murray and Managing Director of Al Aseel Group, Faysal El-Abd ma...king the cut (yes, pun intended). Recently awarded ‘Outstanding Restaurant of the Year’ and ‘Business of the Year’ at the Canterbury Bankstown Local Business Awards, Al Aseel have grown from a low-key restaurant in Greenacre, to a six-site-strong business covering Alexandria, Penrith, Fairy Meadow, Castle Hill and now Bankstown. The construction of the project marks a $2 million investment in the local community, with hiring commencing for roles including chefs, kitchen hands, waiters and managers. The restaurant will also be able to cater for all in-house Bankstown Sports Club events. "We love our community and are thrilled to be creating jobs and bringing our beloved cuisine to the heart of Bankstown!" El-Abd exclaimed. To stay up to date with the opening of Al Aseel restaurant, follow Bankstown Sports.

19.01.2022 City of Canterbury Bankstown Events and Community Experience Officer, Richard Howard, has received The Rotary Club of Padstow 2020 Pride of Workmanship Award. During a recent reception, Padstow Rotary president elect Tony Luck thanked Mr Howard for his ongoing support, and for going above and beyond to assist the club. This award was created to recognise local workers who show pride in the execution of their duties and are proud of their job, and Richard is a perfect examp...le of that, he said. As a member of Council’s events team, Richard has assisted Padstow Rotary on a number of occasions, especially at our barbecues at Council’s Australia Day pool parties and at our annual Playford Park carols. Even with all of the restrictions this year, Richard never hesitated to help us find alternatives. You are well deserving of this award, so we want to say thanks for everything you have done for the community. Mr Howard said it was always a pleasure to work with the club. It has been wonderful to work, as a team, with the Rotary, he said. Thank you very much - I’ll always be more than happy to assist wherever I can. I actually enjoy the experience and I never knew I could get an award for something I enjoy doing so much. Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour also congratulated Mr Howard. It is not every day one of our hard-working staff is recognised for their service to the community, Mayor Asfour said. A special congratulations to Richard for his achievement. But Richard is not alone. There are hundreds of staff just like him, who have dedicated their lives to helping make Canterbury-Bankstown and even greater place to live. To all of Council’s staff - thank you. : (left to right) Padstow Rotary vocational director Karen Rochford, Padstow Rotary immediate past president Barry Thompson, City of Canterbury Bankstown’s Richard Howard and Padstow Rotary president elect Tony Luck.
