19.01.2022 Welcome back for another semester. We've got a lot of exciting stuff planned for Bible studies and public talks this semester. If you're keen to join a bible study can you please send us your timetable at [email protected] so we can make a time that suits you.
16.01.2022 CBM COVID-19 Update 23/3/2020 Do not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encourage one anotherand all the more as you see the Day approaching (Hebrews 10:25). While for many, COVID-19 might provide a reason to cease meeting, if anything it should remind us of our own mortality and the need to spur one another on with eyes fixed on Christ’s return. Sadly though, for the short-term CBM Penrith will have to move all our meetings online. This will... be a genuine loss as we no longer get to meet in person (relationships are never the same online!) but one we need to do to love others, protect the vulnerable and submit to the governing authorities. We really want to encourage you to keep meeting online with your CBM Bible study, keep being part of the public talk online and even join us for new things, like praying together. If we needed mutual encouragement and support before, how much more is that true now that we aren’t physically together. So even if it’s a bit more awkward, we hope you’ll stay involved out of love for one another in Christ. We’ll be posting Zoom IDs/links for all the various groups throughout the week, but for now the Tuesday 11-1 group is https://uws.zoom.us/j/795283735 (ID: 795-283-735). Besides bible studies and the talk (which we’re going to change up the format to) we are also going to introduce prayer meetings every Mon-Wed-Fri morning from 8:30-9:00. This is a way for us all to support one another and pray for our campus during this time. We would love it if you’d join us for this. If you have any questions please let us know. If you are struggling or need to chat, definitely let us know. We want to make sure everyone is cared for and kept strong in Christ during these times. Look forward to seeing you all this week.
15.01.2022 It's been a long semester away from one another. So this Thursday we're gonna hang out again for a picnic by the river. It'll be a great opportunity to catch up with friends, meet some new members and just enjoy seeing people in real life. If it rains we'll go in to the coffee club just across the road. Hope to see you all there!
14.01.2022 Need a break from studying? Or a further excuse to not start studying? Then come join us for our STUVAC social. This Thurs 1-2:30 on Zoom. https://uws.zoom.us/j/258015539
13.01.2022 Bible studies, prayer meetings and public talks all kick off this semester. In bible studies we'll be thinking about how the whole Bible fits together, while in the talks we'll be looking at the last book of the Bible - Revelation - and how it is relevant to us today. Hope to see you there!

11.01.2022 CBM Corona Virus Update 16/3/2020 As the uni works out its response to the Coronavirus, we need to talk about our response as CBM. There are many ways that the wider world is responding that we don’t want to characterise us as Christians. First, we don’t want to be motivated by fear. We believe in a sovereign God who is in control of all things, and using all things for the good of those who love him. Indeed, in Jesus we have a hope even in the face of death. And so for insta...nce, selfish bulk buying motivated by fear of missing out should have no place in our lives. Neither though should we have the she’ll be right approach of many others. Although for the vast majority of us, Coronavirus won’t be of great personal danger, this response like the first is purely motivated by self. It’s a selfish indifference that thinks if I am okay, then I need not worry. Instead, as Christians we want to be motivated by love. We want to be actively caring for those around us in this time, caring for those in need and continuing to encourage one another in Christ. One of the practical ways we can love others is to help limit and slow the spread of this virus, for both the sake of those vulnerable and to reduce pressure on our health system. We also want to submit to the university authorities in how we should respond. What does that mean in practice? For this week, Bible studies and the Public talk will continue as normal and we would still love to see you there. We won’t be sharing food at any of these activities though and encourage you to limit physical interaction, ensure you practice good personal hygiene (handwashing) and if possible, bring your own Bibles rather than sharing. Monday Night Training is cancelled for now because these meetings revolve around dinner. For those who do show symptoms though, for the love of others we encourage you not to come. From next week on, it appears that classes will be going online although the uni itself will still be open. We are waiting to hear from Clubs what this exactly means for our meetings. If we can continue to run studies/talks, we will offer them to those on campus and try to provide streaming options for those who can’t come in. If we cannot run meetings, we will explore options to run studies and the main meeting over the net. This would also be a great opportunity to start reading the Bible and praying one-to-one with another student and we really want to encourage all members to consider this. Most of all, please be praying. Pray that God has mercy on our world, pray for those particularly affected by this illness, and pray that ultimately, God uses it to bring people to Himself. We will continue to keep you updated as the situation develops.
