11.01.2022 The time is right - Or is it? If there is one thing that frustrates all of us - it is the time it takes to recover from injury. Studies in cellular healing te...ll us that in a perfect situation the time for cells to move from injury to healed is 10 days. The perfect situation requires good nutrient supply for surrounding tissue and blood vessels, a transport source away from the site for the damaged tissue that is removed by the body if it cannot be repaired, and no further insults to the injured structure. So why are we not then better after 10 days for most of our injuries? Cellular healing is not system healing. A calf strain needs the cells of the muscle to repair, then these cells will need to be subjected to stretches and mechanical stresses from muscular contractions through the full range of the muscle’s movement, before it can function properly once again. If enough tissue is damaged then the scar tissue we use to repair ourselves will cause a deficit in muscle / joint / bone / nerve function. This is the reason that physiotherapists exist. To assist you to heal and then get your injured structures to play the game they were meant to in the first place.
