22.01.2022 Our IRB team showed true grit at the recent QLD IRB Championships with Caleb and Jason making it into the quarter finals in both mass and surf events. Only just missing out on the semi finals. Both Alistair and Jason had challenging starts for their 2 quarter finals and also just missed out progressing to semi finals as well. The team showed true spirit and was able to gain more experience for Toby who had his first IRB state titles. The guys just missing out have spurred them on for bigger and better results next season. Plus keep an eye for an up coming 2021 team meeting and planning session.

19.01.2022 So this last weekend saw our Coolum IRB team compete in the final round of the Ocean Roar Series at Tugun. Our small but amazing team made it through to 4 finals in the 35+ surf and mass along with the 45+ surf and mass. Along with Caleb, Jason and Toby giving the opens a red hot go (and did well for the first time competing together in the boat) Congrats to the team of Alistair, Jason and Toby who took out 4th place in both the 35+ and 45+ surf against the states best.... Thanks as always to our Caleb for being our opens driver, mass patient and assistant team manager. To Chris for coaching the team and driving the patient boat all weekend - the boys couldnt have done it without you. Beryl and Allison for officiating for us without a second thought and to Sophie and Harvey Smithies for being the number 1 supporters. The state championships are the 4-6 September at Broadbeach where we are hoping to walk away with a medal or 2.

Riccardo C stepped up as our head trainer for the camp and should be extremely proud of the work that he put into it. Thanks to the many club members who helped out with water safety and supervision during the camp. The assessment on Saturday ...showed the benefits of the thorough training with all 15 of our members passing and able to demonstrate the skills they had learnt. A special thank you goes out to the assessors and water safety who helped on the assessment day. A huge CONGRATULATIONS to the 15 youth who obtained their Surf Rescue Certificates. We are excited to see you volunteering on our beaches representing the red and yellow soon! Nic Lowe, Youth/Cadet Officer

15.01.2022 Nipper Families it's your turn! It’s SOS (Support Our Savers) Appeal Week this week where we raise funds for our amazing Surf Life Saving Club which watches over locals, holidaymakers, nippers and their families on our beautiful beach every summer. This year we’ve gone virtual! (Kicking and screaming into the modern era but arrived none the less.) This means, thanks to the wonders of the World Wide Web, it’s easier than ever to share the appeal with your family and friends ...far and wide. Plus! We have our very own Nipper Tally so we can have boasting rights around the club when we raise the most money. The funds we raise go towards the vital equipment, facilities, and training needed to support volunteer lifesavers and keep our beaches safe. This year, we hope, the money raised will also help to fill the gap that the Covid lockdown and restrictions have made to the funding we usually rely on from the Supporters Club (upstairs) as well as many of our amazing sponsors. How can you help SOS? IT'S SO EASY! Share this post or the link to your socials, let your friends and family know that this appeal directly helps your club, your beach, and your nippers - https://sosweek.raisely.com/coolumnippers On behalf of Coolum Nippers, thank you for getting involved with this crucial fundraising appeal.

11.01.2022 Unfortunately, the ongoing COVID situation has impacted our traditional Back To Coolum day and we were not be able to hold the normal function within the COVID Safe protocols required. James Blackmore, Dave Vincent, Shane Pieters, Paul Hammond and our ever present Club Captain, Mick Sell, were also on hand to represent the younger brigade. 06.01.2022 So the first round of the Ocean Roar went off on the weekend at Met Caloundra. There was a lovely swell and shore dump in that really tested our teams. Our Open Male team got through to the Mass final and though they where unable to finish they did well considering the last minute crew member change. Our 45+ got a second in the Mass rescue and a third in the Surf and will only get better as the season progresses ... We are only a small but loyal team who at the end of the day went out, had fun, didnt get DQ or injured so overall a great day in our books. Well done to Toby Andrews who is our patient extraordinaire for his first carnival. A big thanks to Shane and Logan Pieters for coming down and showing us your support. Another big thank you to our 3 officials on the day in Greg Bott, Beryl Henshaw and Allison Smithies. Looking forward to our next carnival in 2 weeks at Alexandra Headlands. We are always looking for new members to join the team for next season so if you are interested why not come down and have a look and a chat with us, we would be more than happy to have you on the team.

06.01.2022 Coolum Beach SLSC & Surf Lifesaving QLD is seeking your support for our major annual fundraising appeal. We are asking you to "Support our Savers" and recognise the incredible work performed by our volunteers up and down the coastline. Rain, hail or shine, our volunteer lifesavers are out on the beaches every weekend during the patrol season to watch over and keep swimmers safe in the water. SOS Week is pivotal in ensuring that our volunteer surf life savers have the necessar...y equipment, training, and resources to continue safeguarding Queensland beaches. Our beaches may be free to enjoy, but theres a very real and tangible cost associated with keeping them safe. While surf lifesavers volunteer their time, the costs of setting up a single patrol add up to more than $80,000. As a charity organisation, SLSQ relies heavily on the generosity of partners and sponsors to deliver our lifesaving services, along with a range of educational and community awareness programs. Please click below to donate today https://sosweek.raisely.com/t/coolum-beach-slsc
