20.01.2022 6 Benefits of Having a Routine by Dr CC We all have a certain amount of routine in our lives. Some people are more suited to a routine way of life than others. Here are 6 benefits of having a routine. 1. Feel safe. ... Routines take away uncertainty. This allows you to know what is to be expected which, in turn, allows you to relax and feel safe because having a routine is familiar. 2. It’s predictable. The very nature of a routine allows us to know what we are going to do. This routine is therefore predictable and is less stressful than when there is constant chaos. The person is more able to respond in the most suited manner for the situation due to routine. 3. Feel comfortable. Having little to no routine can cause stress. Chronic stress has been linked to disease and becoming unwell. Routine gives comfort to people as they know what to expect and enjoy the calm feeling associated with it. 4. A simple life. Life can be simple or life can be complex. It is our choice because of the way we handle situations. Having a clear plan for the day, week and year simplifies the busyness of life. 5. Increases creativity. Life is loaded with challenges. When there is some routine in your life, it allows your brain time to think clear on matters due to the predictability and calmness. It also prevents a possible fight/flight response. A calm mind increases creativity as well as innovation. 6. Saves time. Routine has time allocation. This allows you to know what time needs to be allocated to the tasks. Essentially, a scheduled routine should free up time so that you can become more productive and efficient because you have given a timeframe for each task.
