11.01.2022 With the end of the financial year fast approaching, the ATO has also announced it will provide relief for small businesses affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. This includes: - Deferring by up to four months the payment date of amounts due through the business activity statement, PAYG instalments, income tax assessments, FBT assessments and excise. - Allowing businesses on a quarterly reporting cycle to opt into monthly GST reporting in order to access GST refunds quicker. ...- Allowing businesses to vary PAYG instalments to zero for the March 2020 quarter. Businesses that vary their PAYG instalments to zero can also claim a refund for any instalments made for the September 2019 and December 2019 quarters. - Remitting any interest and penalties, incurred on or after 23 January 2020, that have been applied to tax liabilities. - Working with affected businesses to help them pay their existing and ongoing tax liabilities by allowing them to enter into low-interest payment plans. - Importantly, employers will still be required to meet their ongoing super guarantee obligations for their employees. More info on this initiative can be found here: https://www.ato.gov.au//In-de/Specific-disasters/COVID-19/ Alternatively, get in touch with one of our friendly team today!

11.01.2022 Update from the Queensland Government on the easing of restrictions.

09.01.2022 Although things are different this year, we never forget the sacrifices made for us. Lest we forget.

08.01.2022 Do you have an apprentice or trainee? The government has recently announced $1.3 billion in support payments to keep almost 120,000 apprentices employed. If you have an apprentice or trainee on the books, you might be eligible for up to $7,000 in wage assistance for each apprentice per quarter, backdated to 1 January 2020. This scheme is available to small businesses with fewer than 20 full-time workers and aims to encourage retaining existing apprentices and the re-employm...ent of those who lose their position as a result of the Coronavirus. If this is you, you can register for the subsidy from early April 2020. More info on this initiative can be found here: https://treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/businesses

07.01.2022 Not sure what you can claim come tax time, these occupation guides from the ATO can assist. Alternatively, reach out to one of our Accountants and we can help with what deductions you can claim.

05.01.2022 The ATO have extended their Call Centre hours to assist more and more individuals and businesses. Alternatively, contact one of us here and we can correspond directly to the ATO on your behalf to save you the stress and headaches.

05.01.2022 It’s terrible to even think we would have to share something like this with everything else that is going on, but unfortunately there are scammers out there trying to take advantage. The most recent is scammers trying to contact clients pretending to be from the ATO and requesting Bank details for ‘Jobkeeper payments’. Bank details are a requirement for Jobkeeper Enrolment, so the ATO will never request these again by phone. ... If you receive any messages or calls that seem suspicious, please contact our office or your accountant directly first, and we can give you further detail about their legitimacy.

05.01.2022 In light of the COVID-19 global economic downturn, most major banks have announced the ability to defer loan repayments for up to 6 months and cut interest rates for this period in an effort to help keep businesses afloat during this period. Our advice: Approach your bank now to see what they can do to support you through this difficult time. Find out if your bank is one of them! https://www.ratecity.com.au//banks-freezing-mortgages-covi
