12.01.2022 #spixsAreComingHome - good morning Caatinga! During sunrise of the Brazilian caatinga, our first inhabitants of the Spix's Macaw Release Center are waiting for ...their morning feeding. Our biologist and manager of the center, Cromwell, is preparing seeds, fruits, and vegetables for it. All birds are doing very well, they are healthy and have got used to the new climatic conditions. We apologize for the lower quality of the footage. In order to prepare the parrots as well as possible for the upcoming reintroduction into the wild, it has been very important to reduce the contact with humans to a required minimum over the past few months. Now the Spix's Macaws are extremely shy and therefore very tricky to film. Nevertheless, we are happy watching this wonderful footage and are proud of the excellent work of our team every day in Brazil does! ______________ #spixsAreComingHome good morning Caatinga! Unser Biologe und Manager des Centers, Cromwell, bereitet dafür Samen, Früchte und Gemüse vor. Allen Vögeln geht es gut, sie sind gesund und haben sich an die neuen klimatischen Bedingungen gewöhnt. Wir bitten euch die geringe Qualität der Filmaufnahmen zu entschuldigen. Es war in den letzten Monaten enorm wichtig, den Kontakt mit Menschen auf das notwendige Minimum zu reduzieren, um sie auf die bevorstehende Wiederauswilderung so gut wie möglich vorzubereiten. Daher sind die Spix-Aras mittlerweile extrem scheu geworden und somit auch schwierig zu filmen. 07.01.2022 #spixsAreComingHome the moment of reintroduction is nearing. The Brazilian Caatinga is preparing for it. The parrots' large nesting trees are starting to bloo...m. This marks the period where parrots in this region start pairing off, looking for new nest sites or returning to their old nests to clean out and prepare for the upcoming breeding season. Spring is here and nature is waiting for the first rains of this season. Here in Germany too, we are preparing. The annual routine check was performed by our technicians, biologists, and vet Francios Le Grange this week. During this check-up, microchips were placed in the anesthetized young birds' chest of our current breeding season. It is the next generation of Spix's Macaws, which will be brought into the Brazilian Caatinga to be able to live in their natural habitat. The initial results indicate an overall positive trend. All parrots are healthy. A great success in the conservation of this wonderful species. _________________________ #spixsAreComingHome der Moment der Wiederauswilderung rückt immer näher und auch die Natur in der Caatinga bereitet sich darauf vor. Die großen Nistbäume der Papageien beginnen zu blühen. Es ist die Zeit, in der sich Vögel in dieser Region paaren, nach neuen Nistplätzen suchen oder in ihre alte Nester zurückkehren, um diese für die bevorstehende Brutzeit zu säubern und vorzubereiten. Der Frühling ist da und die Natur wartet auf die ersten Regenfälle dieser Saison. Auch hier in Deutschland bereiten wir uns vor. In der letzten Woche wurde die jährliche Routineprüfung von unseren Technikern, Biologen und unserem Tierarzt Francios Le Grange durchgeführt. Während dieser Untersuchung wurden den narkotisierten Jungvögeln unserer aktuellen Brutsaison Mikrochips in die Brust gesetzt. Es ist die nächste Generation der Spix-Aras, welche in die Caatinga verbracht werden, um dort in ihrem natürlichen Lebensraum leben zu können. Die ersten Ergebnisse der Untersuchung zeigen einen insgesamt positiven Trend. Alle Vögel sind gesund.
